Recently I had a new client come to me and ask my level of experience. I told them I've watched more than 100 Gaffer and Gear videos. I got hired on the spot.
Thanks for the informative review, I've ordered the 80bn with a 100w usb charger, that will take the weight down too so I dont have to carry the brick, that usb power function is under rated
I'm very excited about these as a smaller, lighter, brighter, more accurate replacement for the litepanels astra 6x. Use case being an eng or travel interview set up, running on a single 99wh v-mount.
This is my new favorite lighting channel! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with us, Andrew! PLEASE consider reviewing the Aputure Amaran 200x S, which is an very affordable light with incredible SSI scores (90+ @ 3200K and 90 @ 5600K). I'm very curious to know the DuV values on this light. Thanks again!
Sorry I'm kind of late to the party but Aputure's spec sheet readings are accurate and slightly conservative. The light is fantastically close ssi and tm30 wise. I'll have to run my sekonic meter over it again to get the exact duv numbers
My guess is space and heat issues. Not just in terms of fitting the LEDs but the drivers. If they combine this all in a larger panel it would be amazing. So I'll be keeping my eye on this brand
Your channel is so helpful. Sorry if this question is not relevant to these lights, but would appreciate if you could give some insight into this for a beginner like me: Say if I were to point several smaller COB lights on the same spot on a scrim/diffusion so it becomes a single source, can you simply add the lux values of all the lights and compare it to the brightness from using a single more powerful light? I recently got a great deal on three Nanlite Forza 200 and one Nanlite Forza 300. If I were to add the brightness measurements from your channel (3600x3+5040) it would be 16000 lux (with reflector dishes at 3 meters). The Nanlux Evoke 1200 with a 45" dish a 3m is at 14300 lux. Does this mean that I can fill a diffusion with more brightness with these lights than a single Nanlux Evoke 1200, but for half the cost (or nearly a third in my case)? Granted, much slower setup and more cumbersome, but still easily doable with a double/triple header. Just curious if this is realistic and could be used in the same way for lighting subjects outdoors when one would otherwise need a 1200 w light
That would make for an interesting episode, I have found I get more out of a 1200 evoke if I back it off from a diffusion and fill it with the spot dish.
@@gaffergear Great idea with an episode on combining smaller lights and comparing output. I tried to search for information or other videos, but it is strangely lacking for a topic that seems very relevant/practical (especially for budget concious beginners). I've only come across one video that raises the topic briefly (2x600d vs 1x1200d) here czcams.com/video/Af2z6avlat4/video.htmlsi=mxAJ9fhpbbHGZabG but not in any detail. Would be great to see you make a test sometime!
Wow super underrated light

😂😂😂😂
I would happily buy that 80BN and either buy or make a gel holder that fits in the barn door slot. Gels still look better IMHO.
Glad to see you are still doing lighting.

Holy smoke!!! Thank you for the review, seems like they are fantastic for the price...!!!!

Why is it that they don't use the extra blue emitter(like in the 80BN) in the Color panels? Seems the 80c could match the 80bn color if they did.

I wonder if the Nanlite Mixpanel 60’s softbox will fit with its straps. Whatcha think, Andrew?
Don't know!
@@gaffergear I recently found their softbox (iFootage Panel Light Softbox PL-SBOX-22) for this product. It seems to be avaiale in the UK.
Feel like I must have read this wrong, but is the 80bn as powerful as the Zolar Vega 30C?
