I’ve been using 40sw for about 30 years now.9mm is still a good caliber for the people that don’t train or train very little with it.I like 9mm and 45 acp but the 40sw does out perform both
This is so false. I carry .40 at work, but 9mm is superior to both .40 and .45.

@@kevinb9739 9mm might be superior on paper. But if you look at real world scenarios, in which someone got shot with a .40 and someone got shot with a 9mm, you would see that the .40 did more damage. The only upper hand the 9mm has over the .40 is, less recoil=faster follow up shots, cheaper ammo=more practice range time. But ballistically, the .40 would do more damage, it’s a heavier hitting projectile than the 9mm.
9mm ain’t better on paper either using a plus p plus you’ll get maybe 500 foot pounds, and a hot underwood 40 will generate 600, and that’s only if your using +p+ and most of you are not… avg foot pounds for 9mm is 350 to 400. Bigger bullet going faster being larger diameter simply does more.
40 does outperform the 9mm and 45acp in every situation. It's issue is that rookies can't tolerate the recoil. Which is actually mild for anyone who knows better.
I love when agency change calibers. Then the public get some awesomely price used pistols. Ive done it three times so far. Worked out great every time.
I carried 40 S&W the last 13 years of my career in a S&W Model 411...excellent handgun. I didn't own a Glock of any model until ten years after retirement, and it was the Glock 22 then a Glock 30.
We've all heard the debates of 9MM vs. 40 S&W vs .45 ACP. I would rather have a bullet enjoying higher energy transfer in the 400+ foot pound range of the 40 Cal and the .45 ACP. What I find interesting is when shooters defend their 9mm +P to standard pressure 40 cal standard.
Here's the way I feel. I can shoot my Glock 22 as accurately as others can their Glock 17s even with quick follow-up shots.

I will add, Black Bear, I do own three 9MM handguns and would not hesitate to use any of them to defend life and property. The only thing with my hands as I get older is shooting lots of rounds, however, in a shooting, odds are that won't happen.

The issue I find is 9mm guns are tuned to run cheap steelcase. Not +p. People dont train with +p either. So they are not as proficient as they think. The recoil to get to .40sw levels of performance require a sharper recoil than most .40sw guns have. The new gen5 .40 glocks shoot smoother in my opinion than a 9mm +p. Much more of a push than a sharp snap. The benefits of training with range loads that match the HP rounds means a more realistic training, and greater familiarity with the recoil impulse
The difference between .40 caliber and 9mm becomes apparent when barriers such as vehicles are involved. If you have a chance to do some testing on vehicle doors, body panels, etc, I think there is a difference. I would expect State Police/Highway Patrol agencies to consider that in caliber selection. Although, Arizona DPS recently did switch to 9mm.
I love my g4 22 ,I used to have a gen3 Sheriff's department trade I absolutely loved! My glock 40 cal pistols have never had a malfunction even with occasionally dropping in a 357sig barrel, now I've got my eye on a Gen 5 22 ,good video
I have both the 22 and 23 Gen 5 and they are a joy to shoot. The thicker 3oz heavier slide does soften the recoil.

I love my Glock 22 Gen 3. I’ve modified the gun a bit and I like the .40 cal cartridge. It’s a bit snappy but it still does the job well.
Mine was my second duty weapon. Last 10 years of my 20 years. I'm upgrading mine with Glock Store accessories. It's badass!
I have both Glock 23 gen 4 and Glock 19 Gen 4 along with few S&W M&P pistols; but if I have to pick only one gun, it would be Glock 23 Gen 4 hands down.

Makes sense, might as well go with the 23 knowing you can convert it to either 9mm or .357 sig without much effort at all other than a quick field strip.

I carry a 19 daily, but I do miss my old 23 sometimes (which I sold trying to fund other projects). I kind of want to grab one again with a conversion barrel for 9mm and a 357sig barrel just to have around... too many guns not enough $$$
The Glock 22,23, and 27’s are now out and I am very impressed. They have all the generation 5 upgrades with the slides being a little thicker and wider and heavier to absorb recoil. Also with the front slide serrations the new Glock 22 in 40sw is sure to stand strong with agencies who have them will continue, and those who left in lieu of 9mm will no doubt return to its use or authorization of individual use as most do already.
If you get a Gen3 or Gen4 to compare side by side with a Gen 5, and you actually break out a vernier caliper and take measurements, you will notice that the barrel on the Gen 5 .40 glocks are actually thicker too. The entire gun was strengthened to address the phenomena of American Bubbas running reloads that are way too hot for the gun and then blaming Glock when it blows up. It's also been said that the original specs for .40 S&W allocated for a lower pressure rating than what is actually being used in most commercial "performance" ammo today.
I don't think the forward slide serrations are actually important, I think that's a gimmick to score points on the ATF's import points system (something which has generally inhibited Glock from the beginning because they refuse to do manufacturing outside of Austria)
This is also the reason why their fanbase had to wait 3 generations before being given a magazine release button of proportions not considered laughable.
I think the most important features on the Gen 5 are the ambidextrous slide release, modular backstrap system (because Glock ergonomics are infamously bad), the slightly beveled magazine well, and the biggest improvement of all: the trigger that actually feels like a trigger for the first time in Glock's history. Amazing. It only took them 37 years to figure that out.
Honorable mention: the melted nose.
I like the .40 caliber. I carried the Beretta 96 and HK P2000 on the job. I have bought several used .40 caliber Glocks for personal use.
I have multiple 9mm pistols and carbines also. However I prefer the 40.

My agency currently issues the Glock 22 Gen 4 with 180 grain Winchester Ranger SXT ammunition. We’re transitioning to the Glock 17 Gen 5 by next year. In my opinion the Glock 22 is a better duty weapon as opposed to the 17, but both are great service weapons. I’ve seen the outcome of shootings with both calibers with good and bad results.
What did you like about the Glock 22? As far as the outcome of shootings, did the .40 cal cause more damage than the 9mm, or stopping power, which one is best?

I laugh at all the people who RAN to the gun store, traded their .40 S&W at a terrible price for a 9mm because of the 9mm fad. Mean while, I can find .40 S&W, .357 Sig and 10 mm on the shelves and 9mm is all sold out. Plus, with supply and demand, right now 9mm is more expensive than .40 S&W. Thank you people. .40 S&W, 9mm, .357 Sig and 10 mm are great rounds.

I’m not a cop but I love my G22 .. I keep it as my bedroom gun.. 180 grain Ranger T”s ..
i always carried the glock27, it was snappy but once i learned the trigger reset my accuracy greatly increase. I also own glock 19s which i find are one of the easiest pistols to shoot ive ever owned. Until i just got a gen4 glock 22 with a trigger upgrade. Holy crap, my first test run i hit 9/10 on all my targets at 15-20 yards (water bottles, beer cans, etc) , she shoots like a dream and has way more confidence in that big .40 slug. the bullet holes from the 19 are like half the size. (i shoot empty spray cans, and bottles filled with liquid) and you can really see a huge diffference in entry and exit size with the 40. the glock22 is my new favorite!
What amazes me is that ammo manufacturers have evolved 9mm ammo and not the 40 S&W cartridge . At least that’s the way every conversation about replacing the 40 with the 9 takes the topic. All the reasons for developing the 40 S&W over the 9mm are still viable.
In my view, the 9mm needed evolving, since it was introduced in about 1901, and the .40 was recently developed to its maximum potential.

Very good video. I subscribed. I have carried .38, 9mm, .40 and .45 as a cop and a soldier. I like them all and own multiple guns in each caliber. I have a slight preference for .40. My most carried handgun during my careers was my .40 Glock .27 which was my only .40 up until a couple of months ago. I now have 6 from various manufacturers to include a police trade in Glock 22 and an HK VP40 that I like a lot.

In my opinion the 40 caliber 180 g GEN 4 fires identical to a hot 9m 124 +p , with there dual spring , and you can always get a conversion barrel from 40 to 9. It’s like having two weapons, stay safe

I have a Glock 17 and 22 Gen 5 and I love both of them equally!
I have the compact G23 .40s&w. I find the 180gr rounds to have less recoil than the hotter 165gr and 155gr rounds.

Well use to be a 40 guy. Jumped on the 9 mm bandwagon 3 or 4 years ago. Now 9mm is so scarce. Started carrying my old G22 again. It was a handful. 9mm is a kinda weak round. It will spoil you. Easy to shoot well. After 2 magazines. Got my groove back. Third magazine. Tore the center out of the target. It’s a really good gun. Punches nice big holes. Just need a firm grip. Cheers

I got myself a unfired Glock 22 Gen 2,it is just great;-)) love the 40 cal. It does it all. And with upp graded steel sights.
Just purchased mine couple months ago excellent condition first Glock I ever bought.
Glock 22 here with Hyve trigger in place of factory Glock trigger..woww is all I have to say ! Love the accuracy and efficiency and I also agree recoil can be mitigated through proper training and repetition .. im actually better with my 22 than my 17..Its all what Your most comfortable with gents. I bought a g22 when this video came out. It was a police trade in gun. It is a dependable gun. I also got a 9mm barrel for it. I like shooting 9mm more because I get better groups.
I carry it everyday. It is my first gun. Mine says Austria instead of USA

Carry a glock 27. It’s a little powerhouse. Can’t beat 10 rounds of 40 and a Glock 22 back up mag. I personally prefer the 40 over the 9.

Great video. I dont have a 40S&W Glock but I do have a M&P 40 and M&P 9. I like both. However the 40 is a little more snappy to shoot. I would trust my life with both. My preferred EDC is am M&P Shield 9.

I got blessed a few months ago when my LGS informed me about a used Glock 22C that was basically brand spanking new with Glocks Factory Nightsights, (4) 15round Mags, and a few other minor accessories for $448 +Tax. I jumped all over that deal and introduced into my carry rotation. I mainly carry 180gr Gold Dots and HSTs and the 165gr Critical Defense but i'm really looking to get a bunch of Underwood Xtreme Defenders. I also like the old Ranger T-Series which I can still find around my area that are decently priced. Not gonna lie though when I 1st got into pistols, I let the opinions of others influence my thoughts on the .40S&W until I actually went out and shoot a pistoo chambered in .40 and realized what an absolute jackass I had been. Defintely viable and valuable but it's not for everybody especially if you don't intend on actually shooting the damn thing.

My Glock 22 and 23 are excellent guns. I also had a Sig P229 also in .40 but I traded it because it was a heavy brick and hurt my back when I carried it even though it shot the best. If you can’t carry it, what’s the point? After shooting and owning many caliber and size guns (as well as carrying consistently for 10 years) you need several different sizes and calibers to make EDC practical, or you won’t do it because it’s uncomfortable. The .40 is a great performing handgun round in all weights and configurations. Everything is a compromise once one realizes that, there’s no real arguments to be had. Forty is great if you’ve got a bigger gun to make it tolerable, but it also feels more fun to me to feel that satisfying POW from .40 that you don’t necessarily get from 9mm and .45. However, my Ruger EC9s is more comfortable to carry, has a great trigger and in that size, even 9mm hurts your hand a bit from what could be a pocket gun. Trade ‘n shoot till you find what you like in different roles because honestly, options are best, and there is no “one best” anything. It’s all a compromise.
The problem with 40sw is that LE that don’t practice can’t shoot it very well. The problem with 9mm is that LE who don’t practice can’t shoot it very well.

I do find that 165gr is much more suitable for me. I don't really care for 180gr. It has more recoil and I feel it for sure. At that point I'm more comfortable with a 1911 in 45acp. For me the 165gr really feels like a sweet spot on the heavier end of the .40 loads. The .40 Super is definitely on another level!
I love my G22 and have carried it for tears at work. Ive also dropped 3 white tail deer with it.

I'm just not ready to give up my g22 gen4. I'm old. It's done the job. However, I do like my 320 x compact...if I want to conceal comfortably.

40 cal is fine, I carry a 9mm or 10mm generally but I would carry a 40 if I had one In inventory

Glock 7 should be a 10mm the size of Glock 23 it should have no gen number on it but it should be a gen 4 frame with the Roman numeral 7 on the slide and it should come in all black or 2 tone

Can I ask why you are wearing rubber gloves?
The lights I use on the table tends to highlight fingerprints on the finishes of firearms when you handle them. The gloves help for that. Thanks for supporting our channel!

I am on the fence about getting a Glock 22. There are some very good prices on nice police trade-in pistols. But if I go with a Glock 17 it cost a bit more, ammo is a little less expensive.
Also the Ruger PC carbine is in 9mm. The Kel-tek is available in both calibers.
It kind of is a toss up. Almost enough to consult the magic 8 ball! lol

Good video/info. Thanks. Nothing wrong with the .40, by the way. We're just in the middle of a new trend. In time it too will pass, and we'll be talking about the new magic bullet again. Or if biden has his way, we'll be debating Nerf guns VS. water guns. And soon they will be coming for them as well under the premise that it causes people to catch a cold and we must grab them in order to lower cases of pneumonia.

Nice shooting Tex, Thanks for all the good information. I carried a Glock 22 for 22 years(WIRED) in the field, never felt out gunned. Departments(I feel) are changing to 9mm for cost. During training hundreds of rounds are used to make new officers comfortable with their weapons. Departments will save hundreds of thousands of dollars going from a .40 cal to 9mm. Hell they may go to 8 mm if Black lives matter has their way XD.

Bro, this video is just a plagiarized version of the 200+ other “let’s look at a Glock handgun and talk about the FBI shoot out....again” videos. Taking a “closer look” at a Glock again???? Old news. And yes the .40 is still a viable option, but it’s no better nor worse than a 9mm these days. End of story.
