- čas přidán 28. 03. 2019
- The IG-227 Hailfire-class droid was the most deadly of the droid vehicles, at least to Republic vehicles like the AT-TE. See how it started under the Muun IBC before the Clone Wars when they were offered up to the CIS. See how the CIS Droid Army used the Hailfire alongside the OG-9 Homing Spider droid, the DSD1 Dwarf Spider, and the NR-N99 Snail Tank.

Yes the title is intentional clickbait spoof (sad I have to explain that on these here interwebs). But am I the only one who really wanted to play this in the new BF2, and wondered why we never see it in the Clone Wars tv show? I'll check out the poll results in a little bit.
But it's funny, don't apologize for jokes!
It’s not Clickbait. There good at taking out AT-TE’s
Could you Cover the Trade Federation Single Trooper Aerial Platform (STAP)?
You should talk about the first time the Republic used 1st generation Imperial tech on the CIS like the Imperial Star Destroyer and the AT-AT.
You can play one in the orginal Battle Fronts for the original X Box, those games are the best Battle Fronts.
*when you forgot your loan was due last week and you hear a rolling sound in the distance*
"Oh neptune"
That would be sooooooo scary 😆😆
Random Person: "But I'm only missing ten credits!"
Debt Collector: "Too bad. Fire!"
*Hailfire droid fires its missiles*
Random Person: "OH MY GOD!!!"
Lol
Did you mean I am missing 1 credit
It's about the message. Or else everybody sneaks away with due loans just below the cost of a missile.
"Beep beep republic dogs, it is time to collect your money"
It was fun playing as a clone, hijacking these in Battlefront I, and then turning it on it's brethren.
B1s: Brother! Whyyyy- *kaboom*
Hailfire: I'm sorry, I can't help it.
Evrant ikr
Also Battlefront 2, taking out a homing spider with the thing.
Man, the debt collectors must wheel-y want those credits.
CLONES HATE THIS SIMPLE DROID

Scientist find WEIRD new tool to increase the size of you planetary holdings
Lmao I was gonna say something like that
Nothing spams more annoying and terrifying than missile spamming. That or droid spamming.
John Buczkowski *Nahhh, a Jar Jar army will be MORE TERRIFYING*
I feel like the speeds of these and the homing spider droid may have been unintentionally swapped by the stats book writers...
zakiducky *Or swapped to the Snail Tank?*
ᎷᎡ.KᎪ- ᏴᎾᎾᎷ Maybe.
Yeah speed doesn't seem to be a consistent consideration in the development of the vehicles of Star Wars. Take the AT-AT for instance; come on, you're gonna tell me that thing can move at 60 kph. I could see 6, MAYBE 12, but no way in hell is the AT-AT capable of moving at 60 kph, and even if it could, the horse like gallop it would have to have would most assuredly kill anybody inside from being bounced around violently. Then again we are talking a series that uses Parsecs as a measure of speed rather distance, so I find it easier to just ignore the numbers they arbitrarily give ships and vehicles, and instead just assume they can move as slow or as fast as the plot needs them to, lol.
@@QuantumAscension1 LOL _Plot physics rules all!_
While Lucas wasn't a perfect writer, you gotta admit he really cared about the details of the universe. The vehicles had a lot of variety. And this tank had a lot of thought put into it, and drew from numerous sources of inspiration. I don't see the same care in the hands of Disney. Just more Tie Fighters and X-wings with a new coat of paint.
There’s little logic put into many of Lucas’s designs. He followed the rule of cool.
@@punctuationman334 That's not the point. The point is that Lucas cared a lot about detail, whereas Disney is lazy, reusing old designs and then giving it a different paint job/ slightly different design. Lucas cared about the fictional universe he created, whereas Disney only cares about making money with the least effort put into it possible( ie. nostalgia pandering and sticking to what worked and not taking risks or coming up with anything new.)
@@punctuationman334 Disney & E.A. mix mashed shit in the latest Battlefront game. They don't care to read about it.
The Russian katyusha rocket truck is pronounced “kat-yoo-sha” btw 👌
If you have trouble remembering this, there's a handy Song that will remind you
or you could say it's a truck with a hawatcha on the flatbed
weldonwin, Abney Park even did an English version!
Also, I kinda hate the Katyusha comparison, I get it, it's the one soviet MLRS system everyone knows about, but the thing is literally called 'Hailfire' and guess what else is named after hail? The BM-21 ''Grad'' MLRS system, the much more successful and widespread successor to the Katyusha. Grad literally just means hailstorm in Russian, so the Hailfire name at least is almost certainly a nod to the Grad. Notably it's laucher system bears more of a resemblance to the Grad as well, as if features multiple tubes stacked on top of one another rather than a system of rails like the Katyusha.
I'm surprised we saw very little, if any of this weapon in the Clone Wars show. Definitely seems like a good hit & run and "blitzkrieg" style weapon for the CIS, especially for the price of a crappy TIE fighter. Maybe they took it out cuz it would have been too OP i guess...
"Hey ummm, got any spare credits? I didn't prep for the debt collectors"
*Hailfire noises in the distance*
The CIS had a variant of this that could act as artillery? And I thought the Hailfire droid was already the best CIS ground vehicle before hearing about that.
seeing this brings back nightmares of my time in galaxy at war. one hailfire could take out entire armies of clone troopers within seconds. couldn't take out a single AT-TE though (not their fault though, shields on the AT-TE made the vehicle literally invincible)
Same goes for the 2002 Clone Wars game. Their missiles can barely take out a single TX-130, let alone an AT-TE.
Lol the remember at the end was awesome
Why didnt we see more of the Hailfire in ep 3 and the clone wars? Kinda sucks how outside of ep2 it does seem very common
The old canon reason was that they required a squad of B2s to protect their flanks and were especially vulnerable when retreating to reload , so they were phased out
@MetaNerdz Lore
You should talk about the first time the Republic used 1st generation Imperial tech on the CIS like the Imperial Star Destroyer and the AT-AT
Extra little bit of trivia for those interested.
The Hailfire Droid also appears in the game Star Wars Galactic battlegrounds. It takes of the roll of an anti air vehicle and is incapable of targeting ground units. It also only has 2 large rockets instead of the massive payload we see in other Star Wars media (but this doesn't really matter because the droid never runs out of ammo in game).
Dear MetaNerdz Lore, it´s time to design your own Star Wars Vehicle* (* includes Starfighter, Freighter, Captial Ships). You don´t want to fall back against EC Henry ;)
Heck yeah, probably my favorite CIS 'vehicle'. Takes the concept of artillery, and turns it on it's head by making it fast and mobile. Was also a blast running over infantry in the first battlefront game.
I think it's hilarious that those things only went 28 KM/H. You'd think that there'd be some kind of standardization of speed for the people who came up those figures at LucasArts.
These guys should be playable In the new Battlefront 2 on geonosis for galactic assault. Their counterpart on the republic’s side could be the at ap.
Yea..
It’s funny that the wheel design is supposed to make it good for rough terrain when the same design on the Tsar Tank got it stuck in a shallow ditch
I was just planning on building this and the homing spider droid in lego at 1:48 scale and Metanerdz comes out with both videos I need for all the info on them. Cheers guys!
Outstanding video!!!!!
thanks! I'll keep em coming
You're an awesome star wars channel these video are really informative.
I love your videos they are a great source for lore
2 in 1 day Awesome!! I like the way the gear system works in the wheel on the Hasbro toy vehicle!👍☯️👍
I love these droids! ❤️
Katyusha+star wars= perfect
I could’ve been first but I had to finish a dreadnaught battle video
Also these weren’t in the clone wars either curious
yeah idk why they weren't in it
Well, the Dreadnaught class was created from expanded universe material. George Lucas was probably more interested in making and showing new ships and vehicles then “Canonizing” old stuff.
Plus in legends the Dreadnaught was used by literally every faction, so I think he wanted to keep things visually separate. Why he didn’t put the Hail Fire Tank and the Spider Droid in, idk 😐
Charles Donald huh?
@@jacktheflash8478 yeah it was awesome. Eckartsladder and Ec Henry are very talented content creators.
Theses are like the clone wars era TIE Mauler Tank used by the Imperials. The only thing setting them apart is that the Hail fire can't self destruct by exploding near enemies. If the Hail fire could, ...
This was such a cool vehicle
The magnetic propulsion style seems quite feasible - like a maglev train riding portable rails.
My second favorite droid behind the HMP droid gunship
Ah hailfire droids, the bane of my 2005 battlefront game
It's a good thing that LAAT missile trails didn't accidentally start giving off a dark smoke trail before palpatine gave the order 66. Al's we all know that the CIS is good faction
3:04 Target one to the right from the droids perspective (the ship we see from) and the galaxy would have gone down a different path, long term.
I think we could legit make one of these tanks with our technology today lol
I always thought they had smoggy black rocket smoke trails because they used cheaper tech to mass produce, while Republic units tended to be more expensive and of higher quality. It seemed to run with the line of thinking of quantity over quality for the CIS.
Yeah your point is right, the in universe explanation, I just gave the out of universe
The ultimate fireballs in Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game and my favorite of all the CIS vehicles. Better get those loans paid on time!
thanks for the video.
glad to provide
:D
@Metanerdz
Still waiting for the Aggressor Class Star Destroyer video. :3
Zann's Empire is so cool like the CIS Army.
I am a BIG fan of Zann! 👍
I think they switched the speeds of the og-9 and the hailfire which would correlate more with on screen speeds
I love your video keep it up
When Abe instituted a mass breakout of the RuptureFarms labor force and proceeded to shut down the entire meat-processing plant single-handed, saved at the last moment, and teleported out, the lightning storm which electrocuted his former boss continued to ravage the factory, causing several uncontrolled fires throughout the slaughterhouse. When representatives from the Magog Cartel arrived at RuptureFarms a short while later, they found the meat-processing plant utterly destroyed, Molluck's body couldn't be located and he is presumed to have died in the fire. Lady Margaret, Supreme Leader of the Magog Cartel, seemingly desperate for him to be found, issued a nation-wide search for the missing Glukkon, so that he may stand trial for his inability to quench a Mudokon uprising. He was also blamed for the subsequent insurrection, and, if found, sent to answer, and explain himself to the Magog Cartel's investors who will certainly hold Molluck fully accountable.
I'd imagine that those investors would bring in a ton of scary vehicles and ships, like the *NR-N99 Persuader-class Snail Tank* , *the IG-227 Hailfire-class droid* , and the *OG-9 Homing Spider Droid*
Personally I think these are OP
The CIS were completely justified in most of their actions.
What a Hail of backdstory.
This video is all about the missile spamming monsters...
*me playing halo with a rocket launcher:” Hey! I’m famous!!!”
The IG-227 hailfire droid tank.
*me still having crippling depression
I was so confused when I saw this video and thought "Huh, new video. Sweet!"
Just watched the original titled video a few hrs ago...
The name kinda sounds like HELL fire
And what it does
Kinda proofs my point
Its pronounced ka-tyu(tu)sh-a(ia) katyusha. Grate video other than that pronunciation.
Hailfire Droids and GATs make a good combo
Hey Metanerdz, do a video about the death star.
*Yoshi not paying his taxes intensifies*
Although very far from the real thing but the first time I saw the Hailfire Droid roll on the battlefield it gave me the impression of something similar to the Persian Scythed chariot
These things are pretty effective that its no wonder they weren't seen on the battlefields often. Can't make it too easy for the CIS to win since they are just a means to an end.
The big wheels are its major flaw. They shouldn't be taller than the main chassis. If they were smaller, they can make it so the missile pods can independently move to its side to fire on flanking enemies without having to spin around the whole tank.
I fudging love droid week, and droids.
Nice not first but 3rd is good
This is what we need to balance on Star Wars battlefront 2 remake! For planet genios yeah I misspelled it but yeah.
"Eat rockets bucketheads!" IG-227 hailfire Droid. (Rebellion)
Imagine evading taxes and having this thing showing up at your door I bet you’d regret evading those taxes
But my taxes paid for those! Said the outer rim man before disintegrated
The IGBC “well yes but actually no”
I wish Star Wars used ATGM vehicles more often
Mind shedding some light on how those missiles work???
Star wars style The Great PanjanDrum
The Hutts and the Munns had inversed empires. Munns and Hutts are regarded by many as monsters, but Munns are the respectable monsters.
What's the music being ppl played through the video? It sounds really good!
But in all seriousness that electromagnetic hoop drive could work irl. We have hubless motor cycle a la Tron Legacy, this would be kinda neat. Not sure of a useful application, but as a proof of concept, it should be workable.
I would very much like to see this vehicle in the galactic assault of geonosis in Battlefront II
Annoying little bugger.....remember those rocket buggy in command and conquer?
I remember this droid. When my brother and I would play Clone Wars as kids on our Gamecube I would destroy him with it's boost ability. He got so pissed. XD
Hmm I'm in debt...
Russian song " katyusha " is being heard getting louder and deadly rolling can be heard"...oh no
Will you do swoop bikes in the future?
Can you do a video on Bantha Squad?
What made bantha squad so special
I wonder if they made an artillery variant of it.
Thinks of Katyusha and IG-227...
227...
Order number 227: Not one step back!
i feel a star wars clone wars theme of videos. . .
That and the somehow near 60mph of the quad spider walkers...
I think it may be possible to make something like this.
The hailfire droid tank is unique to the ig-series.
Hoops? I thought they had wheels! I had this one simple stick to trip up a hailfire...
I believe it would’ve been OP... given that not all the missiles took a straight path to there targets...in the scene you see them take unpredictable flight paths to hit targets🤷🏾♂️
HAILFIRE DROID 1000 AP ONESHOT !!! COUNT DOKU FIRED ME AFTER THIS !!!!!
Where'd you get that image of the Bantha Squad Anti-Hailfire clones?
Hello there
Knock knock!
Who's there?
The tax collector
IRL they would have a Wells Fargo emblem on the side.
What does "IG" stand for in Star wars?
Jedi hate him!
Click here to.find.out how he can easily destroy *ANY* At-TE now!
5:25 that's real name is 신기전(singijeon)
Needs more missiles.
nothing says debt collection like an autonomous Segway with missiles
So basically if this was in battlefront would used by the people who smash their keyboard
Clone: Ah, finally. No more annyoing droids or Seperatists only the Empire. Hmm, what to do now?
Rebels: Down with the Empire!
Clone: Oh come on! I cant shot citizens, I was made for those damn droids.
Rebels: *scavenging* Hey, look what we found. *Looks at a hidden droid storage warehouse with AATs, HMPs, Hailfire Droids and more.*
Clone:....Oh no.....
Sounds like a lotta HOOPla
Why exactly do their missiles make a purple explosion?
Those are Katyusha rocker launchers...
Does anyone remember this appearing in Clone Wars?
Don’t think it appeared in the 2008 Clone Wars show. But it was definitely in the 2003 Clone Wars show.
