  • My third session on the HA 880, the first time trying it on my shorter board. Conditions weren't great and my filming method is terrible(sorry!) but I can see my progress on this foil already. I definitely would have caught more waves on my longer board, but I really enjoyed this one once up on foil. I still need to work on my foot placement and pop up, I need a better gopro angle to help me work on that stuff. I'll keep working on all of it!
    Rider stats: 5'5"/140lbs 169cm/63kg
    Gear used:

Very nice! It’s been 4 months, how has your progress been since you filmed this?

Awww man, I posted my last video over 2 months ago now and haven't been in the water since, unfortunately. Life has been getting in the way lately, but hopefully I'll be able to get back to it soon. Thanks for the kind words!

Another great video! Looks like you're exiting with speed and then gliding and trying to find that pump. If I can offer any advice, you can have a fairly neutral stance on the wave. But when you exit, you gotta try and throw your body ahead of the board. Lead with your head and your chest. Pump while kinda leaping forward and letting the board follow you if that makes sense. Once you can lead the board, you can REEEEALLY drive that foil and generate some speed and go snag swell out the back that SUPs only dream of riding. Keep that wig high and it'll absolutely go!
    Great progress!
Props for the helmet! Anyone watching this wanting to learn, GET A HELMET. My buddy sliced his head open and needed stitches. Just a good precaution.

Dude this is awesome input, thank you so much!! I am totally committed to learning the pump and can't wait to unlock 2 for1s and all the rest! Thanks for the stoke!!

Just my $0.02 for filming, a 360 camera on your helmet would be pretty cool. I'm assuming you're mounting the camera to the helmet? It's a great POV. Only downside is you can't quite see your feet/body. Eventually you'll be so comfy foiling you can vlog while riding like oskar Johansson.
    Sick board m8!

Looking good. Bigger board seems like what you want for now since you want time on foil to surf it and pump it. Go go go! :) It's hard to tell with gear, but did you wing Alameda's Crown Beach this fall?

Hey thanks so much for your comment and thoughts. I agree, I'll be on the big board whenever I don't need to duck dive. It's a handful once the waves get a bit bigger, but I should have ridden it this day. Wasn't me at Alameda, but I do hope to come do some winging in the Bay Area next summer! Thanks again, hope you are getting some out there!

@@FluidFoil Oh yeah, duck diving. Doh! I technically "can" surf, but only just barely and I know nothing. This makes sense and I have been rolled with my 100 liter DW style board by a beach break in Santa Barbara... so I should have thought of this. I am just a wing foiler now and don't know how to stay on swell or waves, but I will get there. Enjoy!
