- Here is my review and 'how to' video for the Nescafe Dolce Gusto 'Mini Me' coffee machine.
In the video I show how to first set up your machine, including the first wash cycle. I also show how to make a Cappuccino using the Nescafe Cappuccino pods.
This product and pods were purchased on the Dolce gusto website as a bundle costing £49.99 which included 8 boxes of pods which you can choose, from a variety of ones they sell on there website. There was also free delivery! Wahoo!

This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. czcams.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

i've had this machine for a few years now and im pretty happy with it, if you run it without a pod in it you just get a cup of hot water which is great for tea, i would recommend removing the pod directly after making the coffee, it will keep the machine fresh

We have a Tassimo one but I do love the fact that you can do a variety of cold drinks on this one and that you can get non-branded other pods to use too. Great review. X

I've recently moved over to DG from Tassimo. I find the system a bit messy when removing the used pod due to some of them heavily dripping for a while after brewing so it was interesting to see the coffee pod in this video continued with heavy drips at the end. It's annoying when using two different pods in the one drink. There's also an intermittent leak from around the bottom of the water tank area that seems to be quite a common issue. Still, the advantages of DG over Tassimo far outweigh the negatives and I'm happy to have changed.
Just brought one yesterday we just love it.
The machine would not work properly, or even turn on, until my wife moved the cup size slider, up and down a few times. This is when it was fresh out of the box. We found your video to be helpful, thank you. I posted this in case anyone else has issues with their first operation of the machine. 👍

Hi Elaine, yes I agree with you! Some are a little bit stingy on the amount you get. The Nesquik hot chocolate was a tiny amount, but OK for the kids!
We actually put the milk levels up one more than what it says on the boxes, and find its much better without watering down the drink too much. X

@@Bindersandcash19 hmm yes possibly. We put the level up on Cuppachino and Lattes and they are ok, but not sure about the cafe au lait x
Can you use the pods more than once or do you just bin them when youve used them?
Once you've finished brewing, do you then need to clean it out or does it do that itself?

Hello. Do reusable stainless steel capsules work well with the machine?
Original capsules or compatible disposable capsules are not economically viable and too expensive, not varied, and also the whole thing about the synthetic milk in the capsule which is supposed to be a portion of milk for an espresso portion, instead of regular normal milk, it really does not seem good and unnecessary to me.

Congratulations for the great video! It was very useful for me! I have the same coffee machine as yours for a week now, but I have a question. I hear from different places that you can not put any capsules in this machine because of the size of the capsules. So now I'm a little confused if this is true and what other capsules (like Starbugs, LavAzza, etc.) except Dolce Gusto I can use and I will be very happy for you to give me examples. Thank you in advance!
Hi Petya, you can only put pods made for the Nescafe machines in there (or reusable ones). There are plenty of options though, and they do Starbucks, Costa, Nesquick etc ones that fit 😊

I use the cleaning pod pop a teaspoon of instant granules in and have a lovely cup of coffee for pennies

You can get refillable pods on eBay for a couple of quid. Just add ground coffee. And use over and over. I’ve saved a fortune

Does the water tank came out easily? Some reviews said the is quite difficult to remove/add the water tank
Hi Raluca, yes I find the water container comes out easily. You just have to tip it slightly so I recommend you don't fill it right to the top (above the maximum line )🙂 x

If I use a smaller cup do I need to adjust the level so that the drink does not overflow?
Yes you can, but obviously the coffee will not be as nice as it should be if you used the correct levels.
I got one of these machines, the water tank leaked badly out of the rubber ring at the bottom. This was brand new out of the box. I returned it for a replacement, and the new replacement leaks from the bottom too and also has a crack in the tank. So disappointed. I used one for a week in a client's house and it did not leak. Feeling unlucky with my purchase!

Okay I cannot find answers on this elsewhere, if I was to increase the bar a level would I get more in a cup? I find hot chocolate drinks thick but small in the cup for example.
Yes you would, but it obviously would make the drink more watery as you are adding extra water than recommended.
Ah okay, just find compared to tassimo some drinks are really small. Plus manually setting the bar level I’m pretty sure there will come a time that I’ll forget to set it

Hi Samia, you can if you buy reusable pods. They do some on Amazon. You can just refill them each time then :)
Would you recommend this for a new small business that is not specialized in coffe but wants to have as an option?
Hello. Yes possibly. But it may work out quite expensive as you could using a lot of pods. Maybe a machine with a separate milk and coffee ground section would be best. I have also reviewed one of those machines too, take a look :)
How do you make an xl coffee? Some pods have XL on the packaging. Do you simply do one and a half rounds?
Hi Isaac, I assume you would just follow the cup size levels it says on the pods and box and adjust the water level accordingly and it just makes a larger cup than the other pods do. :)
Tara's Reviews thanks for the reply. But most of the pods have the full size levels. XL must be a bigger size. I see that some models have an XL option but can’t see this option on the Mini Me. So my question is if (as an alternative of the XL option) it’s possible to do the maximum size and when it stops, do another half level.

@@adlinabulsi8124 yes you should descale your machine because the water has limescale in and eventually it will block the machine and stop it working correctly. I have not yet descaled my machine though! 😖

Hi, I recently bought this machine and was wondering if it was normal to have quite a lot of liquid left over in the pod after use?
Hi Shani, yes it is normal. Its a shame it happenes though.. I have drain the pods before recycling them otherwise the water drips out everywhere over time.

No the pods will still contain coffee grounds, and quite a bit of water. Make sure you drain the pods before recycling them :)

Hello, I love this coffee machine for home, but for a business I wouldn't recommend it as you would use far too many pods.
I found we went through pods really quickly at home, so I have recently bought (and reviewed!) a different machine that uses coffee grounds instead. Have a look at the review I did for that one. It makes lovely coffee, and would work out cheaper for your business :)
Can you use any size mug with this machine, or do you need certain coffee glasses (for example). Great video and review by the way! :)
Hi Kirsty, thanks! Yes you can use any size glass or mug. Some of the sizes can be a bit small so I tend to put the level of milk up one, but it still fits in a regular sized mug :)

Hi Misheel, to be honest they don't taste very different in my opinion. So id say go for the cheaper option!
I like both but the nescafe pods are stronger in taste.
Personally I prefer tassimo, I’m using the tassimo my way 2 and it’s been the best machine I’ve bought, it lets you choose cup sizes, temperature and the strength of the coffee which I find very handy because I’m not a huge fan of strong coffee, it also lets you save up to 4 profiles on how you want certain drinks making, so rather than having to select individual settings repeatedly for the same drink, it can be done by 1 touch of a button

Hi Ellie, yes I think it still tastes good! I mainly use the Nescafe and Costa brands, so cheaper versions may not be as tasty.

What is the difference between the automatic one and not automatic?
The difference is that on the automatic you can set how many bars on volume slider you want your milk or coffee and the device stops when it reaches that bar, and on the non-automatic you have to either use the app on your phone or stop the device when you think enough coffee or milk in a cup.

I've just had a look on the website and I can only see the same as you, just that you can compare the prices! How very odd! That bundle it has on there also only had 6 boxes of pods rather than the 8 I received.
I only received the bundle last week so it can't be that its out of date.. strange!

Really disappointed with the Nescafé milk based drinks, lattes cappuccino, the powdered milk taste over-powers the coffee, are the Starbucks ones any better?

Hi Luke, yes you do. There's a tank at the back of the machine. It makes approximately 3 cups before needing to be refilled.
If you love your coffee and want to drink something on a par with Costa, Starbucks, Caffè Nero etc, you should get a Nespresso machine.

Use bottled water to avoid scale! This system is no longer available in North America.
Look in CZcams to see how you can reuse the used pods with your own coffee ... it works !

Hi Dawan, I purchased my one on the Dulce gusto website. However, I think they have changed this offer again now. They do tend to get new offers on there quite regularly so keep checking it to find the best deal :)

The name of this coffee "cappuccino" comes from the Italian word, Little Hood and it is referred to the "Order of Friars Minor Capuchin" cappuccino in Italian, whom the story said invented this wonderful hot drink. Nowadays the cappuccino has become the drink for every breakfast in Italy 🇮🇹

Oh no Chloe! To be honest I have no idea... ive had no problem with mine. Maybe try putting it throw another wash cycle to see if it helps?
how is the heating system, is it hot enough
Hi Jalal, they are quite hot but they do tend to cool down very quickly. I have used other machines that make much hotter drinks.
