My mother near 70 old and got diabetec foot since some days back. She was DM since two decades. Got debridement two weeks back on left foot but second toe got dry gangrene and also affected 3rd toe some extent. Consulted with Dr. Das and and also with Dr. Vaidya dadar as the toes cannot be saved. Hence done the amputations of 2nd and 3rd toe till some upper portion on yesterday in navi mumbai hospital.
They also adviced for peripheral angioplasty of legs if required to do. As an when she got discharge from hospital, will meet you if any requirement of angiography. Thanks for your valuable content which brings to understand easily and upto the point clarified. Thanks

Ek baar extensive gangrene ho jaye agar, then it is difficult to prevent an amputation. All attempts should be made to lower the level of amputation.

Hello Dr. My mother toe has gangrene, and it's spreading to the toe next to it. The doctor hasen't amputated the finger yet. What should i try to do? Im worried that it will spread to the whole foot.
You should meet a surgeon and vascular Intervention Radiologist team for 2nd opinion. If gangrene is dry, can wait for amputation. It doesn't spread. It progresses due to low blood flow. But first take a second opinion.
Doctor my father has gangrene in index finger it has not spread very much till now but m afraid it will we have tried ayurveda but nothing works n we r afraid to visit surgeon as I know they will recommend amputation.

Sir, I am a health worker of a government hospital in west bengal. I see many times,,, if a patient come to hospital with a cut injury in his/her finger,,, suppose there are two or three or more (if needed) suture are needed. Then after some days,, some patient's fingure gangrened..., What is the reason ???
Because the blood flow via the arteries was poor. Without dealing with that the wound was sutured and hence the non healing and eventually gangrene. Of course there are other possibilities like missed vascular injury too.

@@DrGauravGangwani Sir, I tried calling , but it was switched off , anyways I will try to sum my problem into this chat ,My Father has diabetes and it generally is not in control , due to which he had gangrene in his toe and had to amputate it , again after one-two month he developed another ulcer in his feet and it soon started to shape like a gangrene , although this time its healing , and the healing process is very slow , but the entire foot as well as the toe is black , he aslo has Peripheral Neuropathy , Reduced Blood Flow (test done few days ago showed a hemoglobin @ 6.3 index after which he was advised to take 3 units of blood , he also had water in his heart and a infection caused in his lungs due to water inside) , once suffered from albumen licking in his kydney , his liver is okay ,Peripheral Vascular Disease, Delayed Healing of wounds these are his symptoms and I know the major reason for all of these is his poor controlled diabetes , could you guide me to what should be my step forward?
(pls note: He just had an echocardiogram and his heart looks in a good condition as compared to before).

Yes. Sab time ka khel hai. Agar wet gangrene ho jaye - yani - gangrene mei infection. Fir urgent amputation ilaaj hai. Kyuki infection aur dushit padaarth body mei fail jate hai. So, sab gangrene type (dry vs wet) and time ke upar depend hai.

सर 3 अक्टूबर यानी आज से 1 सप्ताह पहले पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ से एंजियोप्लास्टी कराने के बाद भी अंगूठे मैं वैसे ही दर्द है जैसे एंजियोप्लास्टी से पहले होता था। 24 घंटे असहनीय दर्द हो रहा है । जब से ये दर्द है तब से सो नहीं पाया। डॉक्टर का कहना है कि खून का बहाव 50 से 60 प्रतिशत हो रहा है । लेकिन इसके बावजूद भी दर्द मैं कमी नही आई। कृपा आप बताए मैं क्या करूं?
