So, after following you for a while I became obsessed with the Stabilo All. I got really lucky and found 4 for like $4. FINALLY, I found that our local chain of art stores here in Colorado had them. I have them in black (my fav) Blue, Red, White, and I believe Yellow. I have those same colors in the China markers too. I absolutely love the Stabilo All in black. What you did in this demo is the main reason why. You know something else that I saw you demo that I love too is those Derwent Graphitone water soluble pencil things. Those are really nice too, but the Stabilo is my favs!!! Thanks for turning me on to them so very long ago!!

Thank you. That was my first purchase on Amazon AND I AM LOVING THEM!!!!! I found out that I did not need all of those special type of marker besides the sign brush pen marker, but those other micro this and that, I have them and don't use them since I picked up the Uniball Signo Micro 270 ball point Black pens you get from Staples. Now I have the Stabilio Black pencils and I am very thankful to you for your videos. Next I will be getting that "Complexion Set by Prima" Thank you so much.

Finally used a scribe-all today and I was so fascinated by the perfect shading it does! So I canât wait to try the real thing. I canât find them anywhere! Thanks for the video. I have a stabilo all but I do struggle to control it!! I have mostly tried it on mixed media projects but sometimes I just get it smudged everywhere and make a right mess. Loved your demo đ
It is definitely dicey and takes time to figure out (cuz it is NO JOKE black!! right?!?). You can practice with a regular black watersoluble pencil, and Inktense or USA Generals! All of them work and none of them are as scary!
I finally broke down and ordered one!!
Now Iâm frantically waiting for it to arrive haha.

Stabilo All!!! Yes!! Love them. I thought they were permanent after a period of time. I usually hit a project with a fixative when I am satisfied with the results so I can add more layers though. They stay water reactive forever?
The do stay water reactive forever so a fixative is exactly the thing to do, yes!

Hi Karen. I have a question. How do I seal my Stabilo all drawing? Can I use a spray varnish or apply some thing like polyurethane without worrying about smudging?

How do you seal the layer if you don't want it to be active anymore? If I want to add new layers, how do I keep the Stabilo from smudging/blending when not wanted? Thanks for the video.
Anytime you donât want activation, switch to a non Watersoluble pencil. Easy peasy!
Karen Campbell MIXED MEDIA Hi Karen, I have a similar question. What if I wanted to add other media on top of the image. What would I seal it with without it smudging? I am going on a road to to Michigan because we havenât seen our daughter in nearly a year because of COVID, and I am gathering my art supplies for the 5,000+ mile round trip!
Just keep to using permanent art supplies and then no sealer will smear it! So think paint pens and such an stay away from watersoluble supplies. If youâre not sure, just test them first and see!

Well they sell "woody's" which are short and fat but also yummy and come in 30 colors? I think? I should know! I did a review on those too awhile back. The thin (regular sized) penciled only come in about 6. I really only love the black because its unlike any other watersoluble pencil in it's being SO JET BLACK and juicy when activated.

Great question, you'll want a spray sealer. Brushing a sealer will reactivate EVERYTHING!!! Spray acrylic sealer is your best bet. Here is a video I did recently on that! czcams.com/video/vagUdjdvLq8/video.html

On a bit of a semi-compromising move (before you even posted the tutorial, like yesterday!) I went out and bought a starter set of 12 Inktense pencils and 12 Derwent watercolour pencils, so maybe I'll move up to out right daring one step at a time, haha!

I'm still trying to make friends with my black Stabillo, its a little too happy in water lol! I like how dark it is but I'm still a little intimidated by it. I also keep thinking I have to wet it. I'm not giving up on it yet! Lol! đ€Ł Thanks for the helpful video!

They are jet black ink! So not equivalent to a graphite pencil or a B value. Great question!

How do you get it to seal and not activate when you are finished?
You can just use an acrylic spray sealer! Although I didnât seal this project, simply having it in a closed journal offers enough protection!
I have a few, on your recommendation, and Iâve tried using it the way you do.... I can testify it takes PRACTICE. You make it look so damn easy and magical, but when I do it, itâs a nasty ugly MESS. Iâm gonna keep at it bc itâs totally worth the effort to learn how to control it..

love the video. I've got several stabilo love them too. what would you recommend as the best way to fix when your happy with the effect to stop further activation, I see you using Mod podge but it tends to smear what would work best and not smear?
There is nothing you can use that will use to freeze it without smearing unless you use a spray. I love Americana Acrylic Spray/Sealer! Let me know if you need a link!

Hi Karen, I have one, and am also completely loving it. BUT...How do I sharpen it?...or don't I? I looked on Amazon and all of the Stabilo sharpeners listed did not mention Stabilo All, just other Stabilo pencils. Please help!!??
It's just a regular pencil (even with its magic powers đ) so any old sharpener will do!!

Elizabeth x Oh wait, question: When you use the varnish/mod podge over top of the stabilo, I've noticed in some of your videos that you appear to be just slapping it on all over the place (said in a nice way, not offensive way) anyhoo, I was wondering if there is a method to this? Do you go in a certain direction? I think I've seen you go directly over a face before (could be mistaken). I feel like if I tried this, and I should just to see, I feel like she would come out looking like a zombie! Is there a trick of some sort, or do you have a tutorial on using the mod podge on your projects that you could direct me to? TIA

And to answer your question, sometimes I totally do just pour it directly onto the face! The key is knowing how much Stabilo is there so you know how careful you have to be/don't have to be, and keeping a few clean sponge brushes near by (just in case one gets too gunky!)

Pippa's artwork still is a great inspiration for many of us. I don't know if your familiar with her story, but unfortunately she took away her own life at age of 15...so young.

A mistake you are making is.The eyes should be an eyes width apart.And the nose goes a tiny bit lower
Yes! You're right, if I was to be drawing a realistic face, but I was referring to my reference in this case, which is a fashion illustration, so the proportions are purposefully distorted for an exaggerated effect. Super cool!
I sort of wonder ⊠why women are obsessed with painting thin pretty girls??? Are we stuck on thinking that pretty skinny women is the Trend for normal women? How about painting women with Rolls of Fat, and pudgy faces,
or THIN lips...because honestly - THIN Lips was all the TREND back in the 60-80's. I know, because I did not have thin lips...rather full lips - and I was made fun of. Yeah...
Now that FULL lips are in FASHION - women are going to extremes, and not good ones... to do something that is not NATURAL for their Body.
Our idea of beauty has been marketed by Corporations into thinking anything less than THIN - is not acceptable. And IF you look around you, You would see that the majority of this countries women - are bordering on Obesity issues. Meaning...this is not only unhealthy...but quickens BAD HEALTH with things like diabetes, heart disease, and shortens YOUR life span.
So... stop with the cutesy girl faces...it's not real - it's fantasy. and unless you are a six year old... Our Art needs to Grow up.
I make art because its relaxing. I dont zero in on my subjects whatsoever or make it a big issue. I just draw to draw. So if it pleases you to draw other things, go for it! But dont shame others for having fun! Lifes too short for that! There are seriously horrific things happening in this world all the time that need to be addressed, this video is most certainly not one of them. I totally get what you are saying and you are absolutely right, but directing this giant societal issue at me, personally, isnt right either. So next time skip to watching another video and please take your negativity off line. This is a positive space.
