      Han Hao,
      I would dispute that. I bet even Ma Lin would dare to say he has the best forehand ever. Let me remind you of a few great penholder world champions. Penholders require great footwork and powerful forehands. Liu Guo Liang, Jiang Jia Liang, Guo Yue Hua, Seiji Ono, Mitsuru Kohno, and so on. There are many players with a great forehand but failed to win the WTTC Single Title. To name a few, Ryu Seung Min, Kim Taek Soo, and Ma Lin himself never ascended to the top of the TT world. It is sad that Ma Lin never won the WTTC Single Title.

    his chop block skill is unique, hope some penholders can learn from him.
    I haven't seen anyone can play traditional/push bh as good as him.
    Normally push bh is disadvantageous cos it's not aggressive at all - only push the ball back.
    But ma lin usually push it to a wide angle to make his opponent chase and return the ball to reduce this weakness.
    that's why he can beat shakehand players.
    His tennis IQ is very high and born to be a penhold player.

    • @MrMilanoLau
      @MrMilanoLau Před 7 lety +12

      Two things about Ma Lin's BH.
      1. Ma Lin's BH push often comes with very strong backspin, so he is protected not just by the wide angle.
      2. When compared with Wang Hao, Ma does not give up traditional BH push completely. It is true there is not much topspin in BH push, but one can achieve very subtle placement with BH push, which sometimes can be very lethal. One thing I don't quite understand about Ma is that he never made good use of RPB. In my opinion, his RPB is quite weak. The spin is strong, but the speed is low.

    • @danielmltu
      @danielmltu Před 5 lety +7

      Late reply: I believe Ma Lin started using/practicing the RPB quite late so the "weak" nature is expected.

    • @tevezkeleztheman
      @tevezkeleztheman Před 4 lety +2

      Push BH has a lot more precision than RBH!! Shakehands despise it when it is used perfectly. Regular push BH has precision block, great placement of balls and less tiring.

I play it, every time I hit the ball i put spin on it whether I want to or not which makes it very hard for my opponent to be on the attack against me and always very hard for him to respond....i love it....but for every one thousand table tennis players I usually come across one pen holder...and whenever I see this i usually prepare myself for a tough game.

      most believe it should be spelled as "chole" (pronounces like the word "trolley" in English)which is a variation of "cho". In Chinese "cho" is the pronunciation for the word "ball". It's short for "nice ball" which essentially means "nice shot".
