I too used to use forehand grip but one friend introduced me to penhold and I started using it cuz it's grip is so solid that it makes you feel the racket is part of your hand but one disadvantage is that it's hard to reach some angles.
Same here. I got much better at table tennis after but people tease me for using the grip but when they against me I literally thrash them. Thanks for the video.

I'm in the middle of Episode 8 of "Ping Pong: The Animation", trying to educate myself about what "penhold" is, because one of the characters keeps using it. This was a good, informative video.
Haha, same, came from ping pong
Pretty nice explanation. That guy using penhold grip plays very well.

Thank you for your immensely useful penhold tips, I play with the traditional penhold grip but I find it quite hard to backhand shots, can you do a video on ease of forehand to backhand transitioning in the game.

Sick beat for a rap song
I'm not a penhold player, although when I try to play it I prefer the 2 fingers support, I find it suits me better
Olha só quem nós temos aqui
Same, it feels better
You would probably loose then cause penhold is literally better in everyone and you smell like cheese
@@go-go-rilla4405 well done bud you've made a fool of yourself
hello make more penhold grip style videos like doing topspin, loospin and sidespin. Tutorials of that penhold grip style. I like your videos a lot. Greetings from Chile
I agree!
Milo D. Sepulveda m
I enjoy watching this tutorial it is easy to follow it just keeps me motivated to continue to play table tennis using this style no matter how hard it feels to do it. moreover the c-pen grip style is rather unique although it takes a lot of courage, dedication and talent to be able to use it perfectly. yet I prefer it anyway as it brings great satisfaction and excitement.
Great video. Thank you so much for your explanation. It would be great to watch a video about RPB flick and topsin techniques. Greetings from Brazil.
This is some great content that is highly appreciated. There is very few tutorials and info about this grip out there, thanks guys!
Excellent video! Please make more videos about penhold grip!
You guys are incredibly good. Really enjoyed watching the rallies.
Wow I never knew there were more ways to hold it than the way I learned. I guess I didn't really think of it. Thank you very much I'll try all of these out and see what I prefer.
U re really an inspiration to me.Firstly I didn't knew how to hold a pen hold grip but u taught me and now my smashes have improved. I hold it like u taught how MA Lin holds the racket. Thank u so much
Nice. I have the same grip of Xu Xins, Ma Lin and the curl fingers the weakness of the curl fingers precisely explained and still improving unto it, to break free from its weakness😊 so that's why I constantly switch to another grip.
great video. In my gym a lot of guys trying to play penholder grip and this video very helpful.
Excelente clase, muchas gracias, saludos desde Argentina,,,!!!
Thanks a lot maahnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was looking for a video of penhold...
There are less videos in youtube telling about penhold...
You guys are awesome..
Make more videos like this
I am a penholder too.. but my rpg usually is not too good .. .
But with your video .. this makes me easy to play.
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For beginner's softcore games, pen holds are the best. You don't need much footworks and you don't need to change the grip for everyball. Like you are using same side for both left and right, so it doesn't confuse you so much.
While in the other grip, you switch bat sides from left to right. I always violate this situation by playing placing. They are also weak when the ball comes for their body.
8:00 i should really stop drinking alcohol now i see objects doubled
Great vid Btw Keep it up 👌
LOL :v Thanks for watching :D
@@MLFMTableTennis why don't you show japanese pen style grip?

Your forehand is equally awesome!
Wow it's been 3 years since I first watch this during my highschool. This is the very video that taught me pen hold . Sadly I stopped playing for 2 years, now that I'm in college there's this event where I wanted to try out for table tennis and I have a a hard time to get back to my usual. Here I am again, enlightened by this video. This feels like I'm back to zero again

do you able to play penhold?
I dont play table tennis. But somehow i would watch any video related to it
neko neko maybe soon time to start for you :)
I haven't touched table tennis for 25 years. I just order one myself. Now I'm teaching my daughter playing it. My next door neighbor is Chinese. The neighbors wife is really good at playing it. She play it in college. I play it in Middle school. I can block most of her fast shot. I am very intrigued in pen hold style. They also have a daughter almost the same age as my daughter.
Thanks !!!
Fantastic
The beat yo 😎
Very useful video 😇

This is great! How would you describe He Zhi Wen's grip? The first kind?
he can do Malin and Wang Hao grip with right hand and Xu xin with left hand.. excellent
This is a gem. Thx u

Nice RPB, what rubber do you use for rpb?
No one gonna talk about the sick beats produced

hello. what rubber combination were you using in this video? thanks!
Thank you for this video brothers. I have been searching for a while regarding the penhold grip variations. Could you please do a video on RPB.🙏
absolutely :D we'll do about RPB in the future :D
are you able to master pen hold grip?
@@sumandas9487 I have always been a pen holder don’t know any other grip. Still learning. It’s a work in progress.
@@jitendranair4060 is in india there is a coach who can guide how to play with pen hold grip or you learnt from you tube?do you using j-pen hold bat or chinese pen hold bat?
@@sumandas9487 I am not in India . I use C-Pen with RPB
Last time I was this early, I wasn't born.
Would you be able to address grip pressure. On which fingers is most of the pressure in each grip.
xu xin's grip is also better for chopping
Very good player 👍
more penhold tutorial pliss
Hi. What game kit does the penholder use in this video? Thanks.
Sometimes the Index finger go away from locking handle, is it unsuitable for xu xin pen grip style.
Is normal shake hand racket right for using this grip.
Can someone please tell me if it's realistic to develop a style where I loop with RPB, and block with traditional backhand?
Am I gonna have to give up one of them, or can develop and train both?
3:21
Thats the coolest move ever
Please tell which one is best in the penhold 1st,2nd,3rd or 4th.
Hola que gomas utilizas en el derecho y revés
What if I use curl with 2 fingers as support (my pinky, ring, and middle finger in a triangle)?
How to forehand with penhold? or is it like western grip
hello, can you ask the penholder player about the placement for the pointer finger knuckle?
What the penhold blade you using? was it Hurricane Hao? And what the forehand rubber?
Some 50 years ago, I played Penholder in college and many times wanted to change the grip slightly to improve my backhand. I spent a lot of time on my backhand. Topspin backhand was fun! I always wondered, however, if there were Rules prohibiting adding a well formed piece of wood to the back of the blade that would have allowed me to "Grip and Curl" my fingers.
Would it be Legal or not?
Thank you for your time!
It is legal as the racket can be any shape or size. The only restrictions are to the hitting surface. You must adhere to the guidelines of blade/rubber, material/thickness.
how would you go about adding that piece of wood?
I would recommend a piece towel or similar material but something which is bacteria resistant, or try a thin sheet of cork glued onto the rubber. The only problem is that it might make rpb harder if you put too much cork on, you need to put just enough so your fingers touch, but still leave space with rubber to hit the balls😊
Hello if u don't mind can u do a review of ur Malin eo chpen I thought to buy it can o know how it
I use more so the Ba llin' style, basically the Ma Lin, but it's now ballin'😎
can i know which rubber do u use as a penholder
9 minutes of complete destruction.
Among the 4 techniques, which one is the most effective from all sides..?
just found out that i use traditional penhold. and often switch to 3 finger support for forehand. transition is difficult
Do you have any opinion on a grip in between curled and the two-finger support? The way i play i curl my fingers but not as much as when you played the traditional penhold. I still have two finger contacting the rubber but on the side unlike the two finger support you showed which had fingers almost flat.
Both ways work, I used to play with fingers fully splayed on the racket, then completely changed to Wang hao style but slightly curved, now trying to straighten fingers out again for more stability and rubber contact
Rubber used for fh and bh ?
Make a video on the basics of RPB please
So consistent.. need some tips from you guys how to use RPB.
Coming soon :)
@@MLFMTableTennis which dhs blade model you are using?
Can someone tells me, is there a grip name for holding it like a baseball? I have really fast reflexes but don't do well if it's like an extension of my body, so I literally grab the racket like I'm holding a baseball, holding it by the actual hitting part and not the handle lol.
Can someone just tell me what is the racket called that penholder uses in this video?I know it's DHS but whats the name oof blade full?
possible to share the blade and rubber?
Ma Lin has my favorite modern penhold style. However his style is antiquated in today's world.
Perfekt.
yeah, very happy because u like our video :D
Your videos are very good!!
Great video 👌👌
Though Xu Xin doesn't hold like that, it's more like an open claw with three fingers supporting.
I noticed that too. MLFM only focused on the supporting fingers in the back, but he did the same grip with the index and thumb for all 4 styles, when in reality, XX doesn't wrap his index around the handle, it's just firmly planted on the forehand rubber as is his thumb.
What this racket, can you give model name?
Was hast du für ein penholder holz?
