      I use the ghost setve a lot, one Really long sidespin, and another one that i use to trick my friends, you start the serve like you are going to do backspin, then at the last second you change and serve Really fast, in is very funny to see the oponent's face when he gets tricked.

      I use a serve similar to Mima Ito's hook serve where I serve a short sidespin to the opponent's backhand but I make it look like backspin by putting my arm under the table afterwards.

    My long parallel underspin with reverse pendulum, and my short backhand underspin are the ones that give the best results, but I can't apply them consistently, so I rarely apply them on a match, and play more with crosscourt long sidespin / underspin / topspin (I can mix them decently I think). You... are... great!

    I as a lefty use a short diagonal sidespin serve like yours but with topspin and even shorter, so the opponent makes a weak forehand flip. Then I step around and do a strong forehand topspin from the backhand corner into the opponents deep forehand or ellbow.
    It helped me to produce short points even against much more stronger opponents. 😄💪🏻

  • @Wisstihrwas
    @Wisstihrwas Před 3 měsíci

    The short diagonal serve is the first serve i learned when playing in a club. Now after 3 years of club playing, i can execute it quite nicely.
    The problem is just, for a non lefty, the opponent often just pushes it long to your bh side. If you apply backspin, which i often to, to prevent bh flicks from right handers, then i even get more backspin as a return. Now this has upsides and downsides to it.
    The upside is, i learned a good serve, which prevents most of my level opponents from putting on to much pressure. Further it leads to me having developped a quite good backhand topspin. Or at least im on my way to it.
    The downside is, i can rarely put to much preassure on my opponent. Even when i hit a nice bh topspin, my opponent normally is already in the bh side, since he pushed and therefore can block this ball. A bh topspin paralell on heavy downspin is a whole lot harder to do since the angle is weird.
    Conclusion: for a lefty it leads to a direct fh attack. For a righty its not the same. I start using the serve therefore as a strong defensive weapon when i wanna play it save. Further i invest time in the reverse pendulum serve which is hard to do, but if you manage to pu it off with topspin halflong to middle or fh side, you often get a free attack on your fh as a right handed player! If this doesnt work i play bh serve with sidespin from fh side. It has the same effect!

    As a Lefti myself I'm pretty used to those serves and I play them myself regularly. Only difference: the quality of course and I like to throw the ball (especially when it comes to the long parallel side cut serve) with the high toss movement like Vladimir Samsonov;) besides that you're my role model Timo. Wish you all the best for the Olympics. Hopefully they take place..
