Saw it when it was released in Theatres, when I was SIX YEARS OLD. I was scarred by Murphy’s death scene… but the movie left an impact then that was JUST AS STRONG watching it again for the dozenth time last night. Absolute masterpiece.

Love the way his head turns and his body follows. So many memorable scenes in this movie. I had a friend who could do an amazing impression of Ed 209.

00:58 This is the problem with Ben Affleck's costume in Batman V Superman. Ben got huge as possible. So the padded muscles just made him look musclebound, like he couldn't move.
The thinner the actor, the easier it is to add onto their frame. That is why Doug Jones is perfect for costume, and creature work. He is thin, and a great mime.

I love this movie from Singapore. I simply strongly dislike all the overuse of digital imaging on these days...until I stop watching all any new movies once i know its majority is digitally made than using practical effects.
Hearing all the hours of hardwork on the suit, makeup and clay modelling....I admire this more than just a few click on the keyboard.

3:38 you can actually see this fact in part 1 and 2. When Robocop's hand is positioned in a certain way, the gloves seperate from the plastic part of the costume. It's not even attached to it.

It's so weird for me to hear Peter Weller's voice *without* the Robocop speech affect. It's just... Robocop with a faster speech processor.

Because they kept coming up with different ideas, and as explained in the video Robotin was doing full sized models which took some time, so Weller worked with a previous iteration/idea of what was gonna be like than the thing that actually arrived on set.

2:21 Robocop's look is based on manga! :D

    • @Ometecuhtli
      @Ometecuhtli Před 4 měsíci

The robot of the day the earth stood still is the base of it, drew inspiration from Judge Dredd (Robotin made a early full size model of it), and Verhoeven liken it to a male version of Maria from Metropolis, ultimately manga was used for the finishing touches of the suit.

A cult classic. But I feel the other actors / director/ writers etc wanted to say weller was a dickhead on set. Your an actor so act suit/or no suit, that's the job. Great movie all the same tho.

yes this was dangerous, because in case of and emergency they couldn't take the suit off that quick, for example a heart attack or a heat stroke.

The man suffering putting on the suit: It was 10 hours!
The man who created the suit: It was just a couple hours.
The actors guild: Took them 2 days!

    "Your move Creep!"
    Judge Dredd. 😉
They only slightly hint at the fact it was a complete DREDD rip off.
They didn't even have th balls to own up to it.
Although in interviews from the 80s they did.
I love RoboCop but should have acknowledged it's strong influence. Disappointing they didn't.
