    As a child I remember being taken from Stranraer to Dumfries then to Carlisle then across to Newcastle and then the uproar over axing of the line, I also remember going across later and having to go to Kilmarnock then join the line down south and mum saying that by the time we traveled to Kilmarnock we could have been nearly in Carlisle, good old beeching butcher of the branch lines, ah well I’ve got happy memories of steam rail travel and because we live in Ireland lots of ferry travel and then onwards from either heysham,Liverpool and Stranraer

    just goes to prove what I've said all along steam rules the rails.

    • @PreservationEnthusiast
      @PreservationEnthusiast Před 3 lety

      Steam locomotives are inefficient, polluting, outdated technology and need to be torched, scrapped, and recycled to make cleaner traction. But I agree they did rule the rails.... 150 years ago!

    How many of the steam engines were transferred to remote areas of the Commonwealth such as India or Pakistan?

    There should have been plenty of videos of steam locos being cut up for scrap. There wasn't any :(
    Cut these polluting locos for scrap and melt them down in the furnaces!
