- Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour angler Josh Weaver has withdrawn from the next two BPT events due to personal reasons. Why did this BPT rookie decide to withdraw? How does this effect his future with MLF? Was he a shoe in for the limited 2025 anglers who will be invited to fish MLF BPT next season?

Dang. Hope he and family are well & healthy.
Agreed, but it probably had something to do with money. Entry fees must go down and winning should go up. Cheers and tight lines!!
Wow I hate to hear that about Josh whatever the situation is I'll be praying for him.. good video good work staying on top of what's going on out there thank.s. Get your fish on
Thank you! Hate doing videos in the middle of the night but saw this and got on top of it. Cheers and tight lines!!
Would imagine you will see more of this. Looks like he has not made a check this year and will be cut. Even a 10k check doesn't go far when you pay 5k entry and probably 2k expenses per event.
Being a professional angler is tough. Payouts haven't went up in decades I think but entry fees have. It's a sad thing to see. Cheers and tight lines!!
Hopefully, he can rebound and come back next season. 💥🎣💪✌️.
Lets hope. I think he probably will have to move down, but that's okay. Hoping it isn't something bad. Cheers and tight lines!!
Great video
Thank you!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Dang
Janie hartman went out the elites due to back issues. I'm sure some of the drop outs are money related. It's sad the sport is so money driven
Would we have seen Jordan if a basketball cost 100k?
Amazing question. If they had to pay to get into the NBA we wouldn't have. Payouts and entry fees must be changed. Cheers and tight lines!!
100K to Jordan is like a 20 dollar bill to us middle class peasants…
you THINK....!😂😂😂
@@team-d brother u missed the point. If he had to buy a ball at the age of 13 for 100k do u think he would be what he is today?
Favorite rods stopped paying him and their other prostaff guys.
That stinks!!! Heard another angler was DQ'd today too from Wheeler Lake. Cheers and tight lines!!
I just don't see how losing anglers and cutting back is good for the sport, hope Josh lands on his feet, . But 2024 seems like a strange year with more drama then fishing
I agree with you completely. Entry fees are ridiculous, and the payouts haven't gone up in decades. If you don't have a serious social media presence, then your in a world of trouble....... and youtube doesn't pay anything also unless your getting 100k views a video. Cheers and tight lines!!
@@GetUrFishOn, reading your response from earlier I'm also reading that koby kreiger just got DQ from up coming Smith lake elite series, violation of fishing water after off period, I only bring this up, cuz there's been so much going on this year all around and at least with this, it is cut and dry violation, not bashing him, just saying he broke a rule was punished, .I feel like half the rule violations are up to interpretation, I hate that, tough on koby, he is in 55 in aoy, this will hurt,
No name, poor results.
Hope his /fam health is OK.
Probably money reasons 😢I don't know how these guys do it
I don't know how they do it also. Payouts MUST increase of entry fees dropped. Cheers and tight lines!!
Probably because Boyd Duckett is screwing him just like he is the rest of the anglers! Hope all is well with josh and his family !
Lets hope his family and Josh are okay. I understand and resepct your view, but I think it might be tournament fishing as a whole does this. Entry fees have gone up, but winnings has stayed the same for decades it seems like. Cheers and tight lines!!
Probably money and he’d be getting cut anyway
I think so too, but that stinks. Cheers and tight lines!!
Make way for the next 16 year old😮
Sticking to just fishing/results reasons (not family health related) he came but has not made an impact. Maybe he wasn't quite ready for this level of competition at this time? There will be a bunch of guys that have zero chance of making the top 60 cut for the final event. Do you go spending your sponsors $$ and your time knowing its checkers or wreckers - or do you tap out and look at another tour for the final event?
I agree with ya. Entry fees are crazy and the payouts have not increased in decades. I think some anglers have high aspirations to be on that main stage, but it takes more than they will ever know. I don't think the young anglers know the importance of social media and other things, and as competitive as it is...... some people aren't about helping or sharing the info. They are looking and working hard at doing it themselves. Awesome comment. Cheers and tight lines!!
Throw in gas and lodging - guys that have zero chance of getting a camera and making the cut may as well fish elsewhere if they have not paid their entry fee. MLF and BASS are bloated but cutting hurts. Check their mail box - their reality check showed up
@@jeffwerth2707 its a great thing to do, but to be profitable is another thing. Another BANGER comment Jeff. Cheers and tight lines!!
Hope everything is ok with him and family. Looking at the anglers who are 1 to 3 years into BPT I would think they would be better served by returning to Tackle Warehouse Invitationals. The more anglers that leave the BPT the better chance Boyd has of staying on tour.
I agree. The invitationals have amazing anglers. Boyd should NOT make the cut without any question, and if he does then something is way off. Cheers and tight lines!!
He’s probably broke like most of those pro fisherman are 😮
I have a few friends that are Elite fishermen and lots of guys who fish a lot of local stuff here in the Ozarks😮 none of them are rich😊 they spend all their extra money on boat batteries and tournament fees😂
It's a tough business to be in right now. The dream is tough to continue especially with entry fees going up. Thanks for the comment. Cheers and tight lines!!
I could name 20 or 30 on major league and b a s s that should get the hell out and get their kids some braces and their wife a new car😂 but their ego is running around in a bass boat that's costing them more than their mortgage and car payment plus Electronics, they're egotistical fools😮
Being a pro angler is a tough way to make a living these days. They MUST make the entry fees dropped and more money through-out the anglers and much more. Cheers and tight lines!!
