I notice the back panel that rest along the wearer's back doesn't have much in terms of breathability. Did you notice this being uncomfortable when you used it for biking and commuting? Considering purchasing this bag this year

Huh. You know, you're absolutely correct, but I have to say I've never noticed it. I've ridden dozens of bike miles and I was a sweaty mess at the end, but it never really bothered me that much. I've hiked miles and miles in the desert with it and yeah, my back gets sweaty for sure. Now I'm wondering if I have an extreme tolerance for a sweaty back or if I'd be happier with some breathability? Either way, I didn't think it was that big an issue. I suppose your mileage may vary?

@@Strayfoto I always figured that no matter how much "breathability" a backpack offers, youre going to sweat if the environment is hot and humid. My biggest concern was wether or not you would notice this as someone who uses it for outdoor activity. Most of the time the only commuting I do is from car to work or home

Great review as always! I have been looking at this bag for college and I was wondering, what are your thoughts on the main compartment being front loaded as opposed to top loaded like their daypack?

I really like the front loading feature - I find it far more user-friendly than top loading designs. It does mean users generally have to lie the bag flat instead of standing up to really dig, but you can always keep it upright and open the zippers just a little. I've had three or four top loader packs (two from Topo) and I've always been slightly bugged by them. This would be a great school bag and it will transition to a hiking bag on the weekend no problem.
