From a business standpoint, never tell your age. HR age discrimination does exist even if it's illegal. Asking ones age is by law illegal in an interview (US laws) and giving that information for free is not needed. If you're young it might not seem like a big deal, but imagine if you ae a 60 year old 3D artist, or if you just graduated from college your age says a lot. Better safe than sorry. Let your work speak for itself.
In Europe it isn'y illegal. Just make sure your years have been spent well and the quality reflects in your work.
thank you so much for this video, was very informative, i always wanted to work for a gaming company and i finally got my dream job during 2021 at an indie gaming company as a 3d environment artist after working at places where i did not enjoyed working as the job role was something else, now i am enjoying everyday at work, this was possible because of your tutorials and tips which i have followed for years

I agree with everything you've said but I'm curious as to why you think it is super important to give your age, use your face as a picture, and give personal details about yourself as all of these things aren't reasons to hire or not hire somebody, in some cases it is even illegal to decide employment based on those factors.
If that is your position on this, you missed the point entirely. It may be illegal for an employer to decide to hire or not hire based on age, but it isn't illegal for you to mention your age as a selling point. And if you think employers don't take age into consideration, think again...

Hi! This video have been fantastic for helping me build my portfolio. I do have a question though. I noticed that a lot of the artist had multiple softwares in their arsenal, and most of them are paid software. I've only been using blender so far because it's free, and since I live in a 3rd world country, subscription fees for these softwares are too high for me since I'm still a college student(I'm in BS Information Technology so I can't get student license). I was wondering if only having blender in my used softwares will actually hurt my possibility of being hired?

I've been looking for a video like this. Thanks for putting it together. I always feel that my work is so inferior when I see such fantastic portfolios. You mentioned adding your age, I'm always hesitant to add my age because I'm older then I care to admit. I feel like it might actually hurt me in the long run. I'm also looking for a good video on how to put together a demo reel for 3D props. I don't do a lot of animation with my props, most of my renders are still images. I have a few turntables and whatnot. Do you have a demo reel tutorial? Or can you recommend one geared toward still images? Most of the tutorials I find seem to be geared towards animated assets. Glad you liked the video. I would actually list your age as in certain industries they like to hire 3D artists that are a bit older. As for the reel.... if you can send me a bit more detailed email ( mh-tutorials@hotmail.com ) I would gladly do a tutorial on it !
