    We loved Moorea. The most beautiful island. We stayed at the Sofitel.

    We still make poisson cru every so often to remind us of our honeymoon! Delicious with rice, and a glass of Tahiti Drink.

      We haven't had it since our trip! We love Poke and I think we will need to seek out a spot to get some Poisson Cru soon.

    My wife and I went to Mo'orea for our honeymoon in March 2020 it was amazing! Although because of a certain global event we ended up having to come back to the US 3 days early because the president of French Polynesia said that all foreigners would have to leave. It was definitely the off-season, we stayed at Sofitel on the west side of the island and yes it was extremely humid. It was such a beautiful experience though I wouldn't trade it for the world.

    I've been to Tahiti a couple of times and Moorea is easily my favorite Tahitian island. It's so beautiful, peaceful, with so many wonderful qualities of a Pacific island, it's the most perfect, ideal Pacific island to visit....J'aime Les iles Tahitien tres beaucoup! And Moorea is the most English-fluent because that's the island so many American, Aussie and Kiwi tourists visit, so it's soaked in 3 different nationalities of English all the time.

    P.S. I love the "poisson cru" Polynesian raw fish salad - what they call "Iki Mata" in the neighboring Cook Islands. It's juicy with just the right amount of sweetness.

      I'm not sure, as we went straight to M'oorea. But I'm sure there are a lot of hotels in Tahiti near the Airport

    Hi, when did you actual go? Did you exchange money in Papeete? Was it easy to find a taxi to take you to ferry terminal? Did the Ferry take Visa or do they want Xpf?

    • @teknav1
      @teknav1 Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! I have been to French Polynesia twice. You'll find long lines at banks. ATM's dispense around $100 USD per day; try several ATM's. Smaller island has a few banking hours per week. At the airport, taxis are easy to find although many tourists prefer "Le Truck" (a heavily decorated truck with loud music and no a/c, but it is cheap.) All public transportation (Ferries and airplanes) will accept your credit card. While going through Customs, they need to see your passport and a return ticket. Only First Class area for passengers, at the airport is air conditioned. If you need a cart at the airport to transport your luggage, you'll need to unlock its chain-lock by depositing a coin in a receptacle. Tahiti is NOT a cheap destination. Visiting her once in a lifetime is recommended. Food is imported and very expensive. Sandwich shops are reasonable and have a good food selection. Ideally, you'll need a car to travel throughout the island; very expensive transportation. A feast for your senses. Turquoise blue waters with black-tip sharks. Swaying palm trees. Heaven on earth! Hey Sue - I lived in Moorea with my family in 2016-2017. Best place ever. I paddled, surfed, and/or kitesurfed pretty much every day.
      - If you need cash, just go to a bank machine in Moorea (or wherever). If you insist on exchanging then Pape'ete is better. Hotels charge a ton for everything.
      - Not many taxis, but you can always find one at the ferry
      - Ferry takes Visa or XPF. Never tried, but I bet they'd take USD too
