What HAPPENED to Lifeboat Network?

- Multiplayer has been a very large part of minecraft throughout amost all of minecraft’s lifespan. However, many servers which were once beloved have now fallen out of being beloved by the minecraft community. In this video, we look to a particular server that has made these mistakes and has unfortunately become unpopular. Do you agree or disagree? I would love to hear your thoughts. I hope you enjoy! :)

I remember trying LifeBoat a few times over the years, each time it always seemed so unpolished to me. One day I decided to buy the Prison pass because I was thinking of getting into the mode since it had some promise to me. The next day, it locked me out of the mode and told me I had to purchase the Prison Pass again. That was the last time I went on Lifeboat and I will never play it again.
Im sorry to hear that. That’s just terrible. I wonder how many others had that same outcome
It's a shame how some servers like Lifeboat are so money hungry that they don't even care about having the glitchy transactions.
I went on the server a few months later and it still had the pop-up to buy the pass. It is mind boggling how they didn't even acknowledge these things...
I'm glad that there's some servers like The Hive that have fair Microtransactions that are just cosmetics. The Hive has large player counts, so that says something. Maybe some of the other servers should take notes... 😉

I remember back in the early MCPE days, before Bedrock, back when they were basically the only server that people actually played on that version. It was definitely pay-to-win. In hunger games, those with VIP+ would get iron armor. Their VIP verification sucked. It used a mobile app. I never actually paid for VIP but still got the benefits simply for pressing the button. Good times.
Their CTF gamemode from back in the day was great btw.
Another bug is that their no-breaking blocks plugin would sometimes just fail, especially with glass. Since the moonbase map had a lot of glass, I could easily get in and out of bounds and get at least 2nd. Oftentimes, I would get 1st just by getting out of bounds, waiting a while, then killing the last guy with my VIP iron gear.
I guess I never realized about the pay to win at the time. I remember just how rudimentary but nice it was to play Minecraft on the go in a server. Like almost everyone had the same Steve skin , so it was pretty hard to tell who was who when playing with friends
true.. CTF was the most fun and chaotic gamemode from that server. Mann.. i missed the old days
Good video! Saw it at release 😊 ... I don't play multiplayer Minecraft ever since Mineplex'es Super Smash Mobs minigame has betrayed me 3v1 multiple times. Everyone just mobbed on me so after experiencing Toxicity... I left Multiplayer for good! And never looked back.
If you’re on bedrock, play custom servers. If on Java, play Wynncraft, or Hypixel.

Practically grew up on lifeboat & now have the joy of working for them as a map manager and marketplace artist for pet models & whatnot. There’s definitely a lot of hard truth to unpack from this vid and it covers a great amount of the clear issues that certainly need to be addressed if Lifeboat is to grow to its full potential. Transparency is key; and although I cannot say for absolute certainty, in recent times Lifeboat has taken some steps to be more open with the community through weekly change-logs and more communication between staff & its volunteers. Although it’s relatively small steps for now, with proper care, hopefully Lifeboat can return back to the path that will see it to success with more of a focus on quality concerns to do things better going forwards.
Regarding lag & some wacky gamemodes like that nether brick issue or getting kicked for wacky movement, Lifeboat is currently in the grueling process of transitioning from old outdated servers to newer ones that will enable updated blocks and whatnot. Given that, some gamemodes are on newer versions while others, like Zombie apocalypse, are currently on the old version hence lots of bugs that will theoretically be fixed when the gamemodes updates gradually one by one.
We have a pretty sizable QA team now who work to find as many bugs as they can and report them to developers, of which Lifeboat has also been hiring lots of new faces to aid in improving the infrastructure as a whole.

Used to play this server so much, and I remember all of the early hub maps since the first one. Sad it went downhill so fast
It’s over man this server was done for ever since 2020 the time I left their volunteer team
10 years ago I used to play lifeboat on MCPE. Capture the flag was my first ever multiplayer experience. By today's standards it was really bad, but back then world gen wasn't infinite and reactor cores were a thing. This server molded me into the person I am today. It really sucks to see the new generation sucked into a world of micro-transactions on every damn game. I don't think this is just me being a reminiscent doomer, I think it's one of those things that truly was better back then than it is now. Minecraft has arguably gotten better no matter how much my nostalgia tells me otherwise, however, the money-driven aspect of servers feels almost dystopian with how it prays on children.
i've been playing lifeboat for ages and have been working for them for a few weeks now. i agree with most of this except for the section where you mentioned it was dying. recently its playercount has grown from 4000 players on average to 12000. the only thing thats keeping it back is communication between players volunteers and staff

Good video, im so sad about what lifeboat has become. It was my first server experience ever for any game and i fell in love with it all, seeing it go to just money making and nothing else sucks a lot

4:14 lol anyone not understand the appeal in the Prison minigame just seems beyond boring in general yet it’s advertised as one of the main selling points on many servers
The only good thing about Lifeboat for me is that it's the closest thing to the 2b2t experience Bedrock players will get. People openly hack, server's laggy as hell, and there's little to no consequences in the survival mode. Other than that it's a server that shows what's wrong with Bedrock servers as a whole. I don't think I could ever play those servers again
It's fascinating to me that Mojang doesn't spin up their own official servers beyond just Realms. People need to get that these... aren't super official or anything. It's just some chumps. IMO much smaller servers are better. No plugin nonsense, just Minecraft.
The technical problems, though, that's just Minecraft in general.

Man i have a big problem with those plugins and entity models servers add. They don't feel like minecraft
Hell I tried reporting someone for an inapp skin 5 years ago, ppl told me to send it to a staff member and I got perm banned on the discord server
It's okay now but still some issues. Can be laggy at times , you will often encounter hackers. You have to rejoin to accept friend requests.

i remember when i was like 9-10 yr olds i used to play in lifeboat and met my egirlfriend, i was dating with a girl i don't even know and it went on for a few years then she just left with a tweetlonger of a message on skype that basically said "im a guy"
Lifeboat is the worst server on any game I’ve ever played. The survival mode is an embarrassment. I refuse to touch anything they have their name on.
I remember i used to play lifeboat around 2018 and 2019 and it was great, their original gamemodes like battle royale or survival games, or their spleef, block party, etc. I left it many time ago, around 2021, it became bad. I in java and bedrock together update started playing java for servers because most friends had it and i was tired of speedbridging and absurd click rate.
The new servers GUI isn't so minecrafty and i don't like it.
It's so sad how it has went.
Mineplex is the same, it used to have unique fun minigames and went so bad.

Yeah I remember playing mineplex a lot around it’s peak in 2015ish. One thing that stuck out to me is there would always be signs in the mini game lobbies that said something like “parkour coming soon” for several years. I wonder if they ever completed it or not

The featured minecraft servers for bedrock are all awful and follow the very practices of Microsoft. Idk why they chose this but it's probably from Microsoft themselves

2028: Lifeboat is suffering, full of glitches and bugs
2029: Microsoft took notice, but the damage have already been done.
2030: Minecraft, for the first time ever, becomes a true single player game with LAN and Realms only, Servers have been completely removed, no more Hypixel.
2031: Minecraft took a huge hit, Microsoft is becoming desperate, deciding to makes matters worse.
2032: The Dark Age III begins
2033: Minecraft’s popularity becomes lowest ever have been since pre-Classic days, Microsoft removed Realms and LAN, and decided to take a risk once and for all: Remove all subscription services, and make all of them one-time pay.
If it is successful, Minecraft will come to popularity level of 2020 and Microsoft recovers.
If it’s failed, Microsoft collapsed and bankruptcy, and Minecraft dies (Unless Mojang moves away from Microsoft, but I don’t know if that is possible, if that’s happens, then there is a huge chance of Minecraft becoming singleplayer only game)
