    I know lots of other people say this but I really do enjoy your videos👍😊, always interesting and educational in a fun way👍. Bakki shower looks amazing and the Mountain Tree filter media looks like it should do a good job👍. We seem to be forecast a warm week so fingers crossed it won’t be long before the covers come off and you get the upflow filter and protein skimmer working again…..happy days😊. Stay safe👍🐟🈲😊

      Hi Phil, thank you mate, I really appreciate that, thank you. I am pleased with the way the shower has turned out, and it seems to be working well. I wanted it in the filter house so I can run it through the winter. Yes, Mountain Tree contacted me and ask if I would use their media, so I took their hand off 😆😆. We're doing a lot in the garden at the moment, but I will get the up-flow and skimmer up and running this week. Thanks again mate, you take care and all the best for the new season. Terry.

    Terry, looks good. You might want to consider a larger discharge pipe diameter. As far as I can see, inlet is about 2” and the outlet is the same. I would have gone for at least 3”, if not 4” on the discharge. Cheers from Australia, Raz

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  Před 2 lety

      Hi Raz, thanks mate. The reason for the 2" outlet is because it was all ready there from the river. So it saved me a lot of work. I do have a problem with an air lock when I first strike it up, but once it's running it works fine. The flow I'm getting through the shower is quite good, and the outlet is coping well. I have a 10,000 to 20,000 lph variflow pump on it, and I'm running it at 40%, so I think I'm getting around 8000 lph over the shower. We'll see how things go over time. Thanks again mate, Terry.

    Terry, hello again. A quick clarification please: what was the reason behind building the bakki shower? You have got the moving bed (aerobic environment) taking care of the ammonia/nitrites and I thought the bakki river you previously built was meant remove the nitrates from the system (anaerobic environment). Now the river has been removed and you added a supercharger aerobic piece of kit - the bakki shower. I would appreciate taking the time to answer. That bakki shower is like 1,000HP hahaha…looks so good. Cheers, Raz

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  Před 2 lety

      Hi Raz, as you may know, I do like trying different things, and tinkering with pond filter systems. The reason for the change from the river was, I was still getting problems with nitrates, and so many people that just have a bakki shower told me they don't get any problems. Plus, so many people had ask me to build one as a DIY project, so I thought I'd have a go. I know a shower is mainly for aerobic bacteria, but it can also develop the anoxic bacteria in time. That's why I've jammed it with media, to cut down on the splashing. I hope this helps mate, thanks and take care, Terry.

The part that shines is only 30cm. So when you first put it in, it looks well short of keeping the drum clean. But to be fair, it keeps the drum clean apart from about 1 1/2 inches on one end. But I just give it a blast with my pressure washer once or twice a year. The bulbs are expensive, but they do last 2 years. You can see how it fitted in this video: czcams.com/video/zEckLmPwioM/video.html They won't ship to the UK now, but this is the one I bought: www.ebay.de/itm/324108988816?hash=item4b7666b190:g:MoIAAOSwGCBedK4L

    Can't you use a PVC T piece? just put in in the highest point of your return line and have a piece of pipe standing to ar least the hight of the bottom bake shower bin.
    All air in the pipe will escape and no more air lock.

      Hi Nat, I have build plans for 3 different size filters, depending on your pond water volume. The Pro Mk2 or the Pro Midi can be gravity fed filters. You'll find them on my website: diypondfilters.com if you need further help or advice, you can contact me on pondfilters@gmail.com I'm here to help. thanks, Terry.

      Hi mate, I've no idea to be honest. Each try is 900mm x 230mm x 300mm and they're all full, so I'll let you work it out mate. Take care, Terry.
