    • @bnceo
      @bnceo Před 3 lety +16

      Madrid is laughing seeing this😂

  • @bnceo
    @bnceo Před 3 lety +33

    Well done. I think there are several reasons why Bayern won it:
    1) Neuer is back to prime Neuer and that includes the ball at his feet. Pressing Bayern is asking for trouble because you got 3 quality dribblers in Neuer, Alaba, and Davies. They feel comfortable absorbing pressure and moving between the lines. Which brings me to:
    2) Thiago being a midfield boss. If you pressure Bayern, Neuer is going to find Thiago and he is so shifty that he can make room for himself to find the angles on the wings. He probably played the best ball of his career that led to the school.
    3) PSG had no body to snuff out the attack in the midfield. All the money is up front. PSG did not strike fear into anyone going through the midfield. Somebody like Javi Martinez in 2013 or Kante at Leicester is what they need to break up any line breaking passes and start the track meet for Neymar and Mbappe
    4) Bayern's high line gave PSG defenders no time to make good outlet passes. Davies is so fast that he covers so much ground. He can pressure and force passes into the midfield and then be back to his position in a few seconds.

What a fantastic team this Bayern is, always maximizing their strengths and preventing even the best of teams from exploiting their few weaknesses. If Pavard can stay fit next year, then they will be even more fearsome. Tolisso should be allowed to play more. I think Neuer didn't only have an impact on the game with his saves, but also with his feet and sweeping abilities. When PSG pressed high, Bayern could easily break the press and get through the front line, which Leipzig wasn't able to. Bayern was really good with their pressing yesterday. In spite of all the muck being thrown at their defence, they conceded only 1 goal in open play against Barcelona, PSG and Lyon combined. Is that not impressive? The fact is that they have so many ways of dominating the midfield and allowing their fullbacks to dominate the attack and allow for full verticality. Flick has easily been the best manager this year. What a change after Kovac's embarrassments.

  • @HIM-lk6of
    @HIM-lk6of Před 3 lety +36

    I knew this was going to be a lot closer than many had anticipated.
    PSG missed Verratti a lot. He is a player that could've helped them break the press and advance up the pitch through central areas with his close control and ball carrying abilities. Maybe Ander Herrera would've missed out on the start as Paredes offered the same high work rate, physicality yet better technique and a higher ability to beat the press.
    PSG also suffered from not having a target man to go long towards. They did compete well for second balls though. I was also a bit surprised that Mbappe spent so much time against Kimmich. Yes he would have a clear speed advantage agaisnt the versatile German as a giant a comparative advantage at best over Davies... however early in the game Davies got booked. Tughel could've pitted Mbappe's pace and trickery agaisnt the now more cautious Davies who was key to creating overloads on his flank... Di Maria with his craft and guile would've been a decent matchup agaisnt Kimmich with Neymar able to drift to whichever side he saw fit to target at that moment.
    PSG seemed a bit overwhelmed on thos occasion as the tie wore on. They scuffed quite a few chances you would normally expect them to finish. Neuer came up big no doubt.
    The Bayern machine was fitter and just relentless and simpley forced PSG into mistakes like the way they created the penalty box overload that freed Coman for his back post header.
    A very entertaining math even if it wasn't as goal laden as many assumed it would've been. Great analysis too.

    • @olebogengthekisho3594
      @olebogengthekisho3594 Před 3 lety +1

      Well said, PSG did miss Verratti a lot, he could've made it easier for PSG to have a link between the midfielders and the offensive trio, instead of their defense to bypass the line. They also needed somebody to make the full backs to play instead of just trying to protect them, which i think Hererra and Peredes did, but couldn't make them play as he would.
      PSG was lucky that Flick did flop a bit by substituting Coman who was a threat to PSG, instead of introducing Coutinho in the number 10 role of Muller, and Perisic to cause havoc where Gnabary should have caused.

I doubt that he'll have a UCL season like this again Ffs the man is 32 years old and passed prime Messi's # of goals in a UCL and could've easily passed Ronaldos # with two fewer games this UCL season... he could've become the top goalscorer in UCL history and didn't get his Ballon D'or. Anyways besides what could've been I'm glad he and the team brought the treble a second time to Bayern and ill always be a proud Bayern fan for that

    I'm impressed with the mistakes Paredes made in the played that led to Coman's goal. First he was in the wrong position before Kimich received, allowing Thiago to make that pass by covering the same space Marquinhos was already covering, then he doesn't press Kimich after Muller's touch even tough two of his teammates were covering the same area. The guy looked like a 10yo just following the ball.

      i really don't think those were intentional things. it's more like one guy has to cover a space that got free'd here and other a space there and then you end in such formation but, right after that, the formation comes to the normal 433 again (more of something like a 4 1 2 0 2 1 - when draxler entered, 4 1 1 1 2 1).
      the truth is that psg got completely lost after the goal, but it was already starting to happen before it - the offensive positional changes in the beginning of the second half may be what triggered it.

      Gustavo Albericchi Du Rocher quite agreed mate!! But, as u see i am a barca fan ! So the way they use Jordi Alba to get upfield, most teams in Laliga this year stopped Barca (the 1-1 draw, and 2-1 loss) by bringing back their midfielder in defence to have 5 men at the back whenever Jordi Alba progressed, to stop his Overlap!! Same goes for Davies !!

    • @gustavalbericchidurocher9764
      @gustavalbericchidurocher9764 Před 3 lety +1

      This probably has happened because using two of what we call "second wheels" in Brazil ("steering wheels", the defensive midfielders that are the most used to attack, box to box, in contrast to the defensive midfielder that goes less into attack) is getting really common! Psg for an example uses 2 box to box guys and marquinhos as a first wheel. Liverpool does the same - 3 wheels and 3 attackers.
      Against barca's 4 3 3 formation, its really common that both second wheels are asked to cover the space that will be opened if an attacking winger presses our lateral defensive midfielders, so they'll cover that side if jordi attacks there and as a result, whenever he attacks, there will be 5 men on the defense, but if he doesnt attack, he will not go there - and thats why i mean we cant really say their formation was this.
      Analyzing barca's defense, for an example, in a lot of times they would use an attacking winger to cover the same space instead of a wheel, but it wouldnt mean that this guy would temporarily become a defender - at least for me. He would just hold the lateral defense attacks.
      I think its more like a POV, because yeah, we can say that they were at that formation in that small "cut" :) its just I'm not used to see it like this.
      For me its more like a "who will cover that space if it becomes free for them?" and "who will use that space if it becomes free for us?".

    This excellent analysis just shows how much better Bayern were, inspite of a number of good chances for PSG. Imo Tuchel is a very poor manager, atleast from what I have seen in this tournament, he just relies on the individual brilliance of Neymar, Mbappe, ADM and their defence in order to get past mediocre opposition. From the lineup itself it was evident that they would cede the initiative to Bayern even though PSG are intrinsically not a counter attacking side. They should have tried to drop Herrera or Paredes into the tip of their defence in order to allow for better central progression, instead they played out foolishly to their useless fullbacks, Bernat and Kehrer. What a fantastic manager Flick is, really hope to continue to see him thrive on the biggest stages. His decision to use Coman's pace and the Muller-Goretzka pivot in order to exploit the lack of positioning discipline of PSG's midfield was inspired. He has easily been the best manager in the world since his appointment in November.

  • @gustavalbericchidurocher9764

    great analysis! though youve lacked to observe what psg's defense done right. defensively, psg gave very few spaces and despite the fact they did have to work the long passes a lot, bayern defensive lines were not on par with psg's attacking side. because of such good work defensively, bayern came clear (i mean, with time to think, aim and act) once at Coman's goal and second with Coman again some minutes later (almost the same way) both only on second half, and while Neymar had a very difficult shot and almost scored - like Lewa's bar shot, both on the first half - both Di Maria and Mbappé had very clean shots - again, with time to think, aim and execute on the first half.
    on first half, bayern playing volume was bigger, but psg's chances were clearer.
    hypothetically, if both teams had a cold hearted skilled striker on the clean situations, he would have scored twice for psg for sure, and no goal for bayern.
    both teams also had other dangerous moments but not that clear (without much space to think, aim and execute): those are defensive merits and not attacking demerits.
    so tactically speaking, psg on first half had some 20% less of ball posession and lost a lot of balls trying to attack but defensively, completely neutralized the machine that is bayern.
    i think very few people did notice this.
    2nd half began with di maria and mbappé exchanging sides, which for me was clear to be the best choice from the start, not because of Davies's speed, but because Davies advances more, but it was very soon until they changed it again.
    i think what is likely to is that Di Maria is used to play bringing the ball towards the center, and his right foot is... we saw it, not trustworthy.
    what i mean is that it probably wasn't Tuchel's option - he would have went for Mbappé on Davies back too, but he hadn't had/didn't trust that he had/the player didn't trusted to be able to do what was necessary.
    i think that, at this moment, psg started to be a little less organized and brang their defensive lines onto their pitch not because of a tactical choice, but because they got a little lost and, despite not having suffered a lot of danger, until the last 10, 15 minutes where they were kind of more desperate, they done nothing offensively, too.
    and about this end, it showed that even this Bayern do get tense sometimes - like it was clear on lyon's first half too (not for Gnabry, though).
    for me tuchel's main mistake was neymar's position. he is in his peak phisically! if he is to fix the advancings of bayern defensive lines, should have worked as a fake 9 without the ball to fix them and as a 10 with it to populate the midfield and bring the defenders even closer to it.
    for me, neymar had to feel more responsible and i am not really sure that this is all on his lack of good, common sense. tuchel's mistake, for sure.
    very entertaining game tactically!

    As a PSG fan, I would have liked to see Mbappe & Di Maria play to the wide spaces. Traditionally, these players look to cut in and create or shoot. However, this game showed that Bayern was committed to shutting down the interior space by condensing their defensive block. This tactic might have allowed PSG to exploit the deep wide spaces ti interplay and recycle the ball into more central spaces, where they could play more directly. Opportunities lost, but lessons learned. Allez PSG!

    I think there's too much focus on tactics here when some really simple factors came into play. Bayern were more disciplined in their approach and had more energy in the start of the game. Both sides started with a similar approach of passing from the back but PSG were intimidated by Bayern's pressing and lost their willingness to continue passing out. Neymar become more disjointed in his positioning as the game went on so there was no reliable outlet other than MBappe.
    Some of PSG's passing was poor and there was still no plan for Thiago. So I think a lot of the performance difference came down to players not executing their individual assignments rather than any great tactical difference to begin with.
    Had Mbappe scored from that Bayern mistake in the first half, it would have been a different game completely. In the end, Bayern's tactics were superior and they were simply relentless. They should have won much easier - 1 nil flattered PSG - but Alfonso had a bad game for once and Kimpembe was magnificent,

Proven by by how Neymar must drop until they back four just to add more man to defense and bring the ball onward to eithe Mbappe or Di Maria, but that also nor enough.

    PSG should have played 4-2-2-2: GK: Navas CB: Marquinhos CB: Silva RB: Kehrer LB: Bernat CDM: Gueye CDM: Verratti CAM(making forward runs): Di Maria CAM(playmaker coming deep): Neymar ST’s: Mbappe and Icardi.They should look to use the hexagonal forming a double-pivot on Thiago. As soon as the ball went wide to Davies or Kimmich, the touch line press begins. I chose Marquinhos over Kimpembe for defensive solidity coming up against Lewandowski and passing range. Verratti should act as the regista with Gueye being the mediano acting as a bodyguard, a bit like Gattuso and Ambrosini to Pirlo. Marquinhos and Silva should also act as liberos with one of them stepping forward and one covering. PSG should look attack in 3-4-1-2 with Kehrer dropping in the backline to form a back 3. Di Maria also drop in a pocket on the right to receive the ball and looking to play in Neymar and Mbappe. Similarly, Neymar should do this on the left and play Mbappe and Di Maria in behind. When this happens, Bernat should invert and let Verratti go in front. PSG should also give Bayern the possession, one thing they did right this game, as their press is deadly.

      @@jessejames8774 I think the quality within the team is on a higher level than 2013.
      Müller, Neuer and Alaba improved over the years.
      Lewandowski is certainly better than Mandzukic.
      The 2013 squad was the team of the legendary four Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Robben and Ribery. They are unique footballers and among the best to ever play for bayern.
      But just Kimmich, Davies, Gnabry, Coman, Goretzka etc. Are the big names of this generation. And they have so many years left to play.
      And i think bayern has the best bench ever. Every player that comes in is a instant game changer.

    i think that mbappe could have been the striker and neymar winger this would have been much better as it would have created more chances and psg would have gone attacking instead of defensive and the defensive line high so that they would put the strikers offside
