      I don't have much blower experience past m62s, but I'm betting IATs on this were probably around 170 dungrees F at redline. Intercooling this particular setup would be a challenge, you'd obviously be much better off ditching the holly lower intake for a custom built part to squeeze a heat exchanger in that valley. Throwing some I/C action and more timing at such a setup would be spectacular results!!

    Maybe intake valves floating due to using stock springs, aftermarket cam and adding boost. At 6 psi, the intake valve springs are losing somewhere between 15-20 lbs of seating pressure.

      so after markets springs , rockers and a turbo cam it will be, i am guessing it will hit 600 hp, but still a 75-80 mm turbo is king( and cheaper longterm operation less parts to fail ) on any LS and will outlast any factory junk yard m90 eaton blower , but good to test a junkyard blower to see if theres power to be made .

      NA at best is 14.7PSI before the throttle blades. This is atmospheric pressure. The piston going down the bore creates a low pressure area (vaccum) that the atmospheric pressure tries to fill. It does not take much boost pressure to aid that cylinder filling.

      @@baby-sharkgto4902I fully realise the situation, that the blower requires torque from the crankshaft to drive the blower. That reduced torque relates to reduced power. But a small positive pressure on the intake really aids the air entering the cylinder past the intake valve. This why F1 cars have a snorkel above the driver's head, to develop a ram effect of the intake air. Land Speed racers tend to run the snorkel out the front 6" to 12" in front of the radiator. The inlet size is not generally large, say 2" or 3" × 6" to catch dead cool air. It is not much but enough to aid the air getting into the cylinders at close to 200 MPH.
      Similar is the tapering of the intake port from a larger cross section at the intake gasket to a bit smaller just up from the bowl. Then the bowl volume gets a bit larger. What this does is accelerate the air and then slow it in the bowl. This raises the pressure slightly in the bowl which aids the air to squirt past the valve.
      Too big a port volume causes lazy airflow and reduced low speed torque, caused by the air not getting past the valve well.

I do wish the leak tests were performed, I know a good amount of people that were looking forward to that information in my blower groups and forums. If a bubbler delete (manifold drain) would possibly gain you 1psi or more that is seen as much more valuable to the community that runs small blowers capable of only 8 PSI max or similar like this test. If your blower maxes out at say 8psi and that delete allows you to now make 9psi or possibly 10psi that is a lot more important of a gain to them then somebody who's running large blowers capable of say 15-20psi as they may not care at all for that delete since those blowers can already produce the psi to toss their rods.

    Need to port the inlet. 100 mm+ if you wamt to see bigger power numbers. Roots style blowers hate inlet restrictions. Gains to be had on thr outlet side, but way more inlet side of things. Get am intercooler as well, and then you coukd probably go down to a 2.2ish" pulley. Might be able to see 525-550 hp with that set up.

    actually wild i can take a trip to the junkyard grab me one of these m90s rebuild it run a 2.8 pulley and 80 lbs injectors a truck cam and I can make almost 115 more horse power.

  • @alpha2gproject783
    @alpha2gproject783 Před 8 měsíci +2

    That's kind of wild that basically the M90 is pretty pathetic on a V8 but I remember when Roush had a M90 on the 4.6 2 and 3 valve years ago that made decent power.

    I would think porting the blower, even one of the home dremel jobs I bet would get another couple pounds of boost and a larger throttle body. Even lsa chargers run out of steam after a bit and need to be ported.

    Ok. So I did a little digging. Apparently the only gen v(5) m90 3800 application is the 2004-07 Grand Prix gt/gtp. There is one currently in Dayton Ohio LKQ but it's been there 2 months so it's a crap shoot. The 5 lkq near me don't have any. Gen 3 are fairly common. I'd still really love to see this test with a gen 3 with a pulley swap. I know it's not as easy to do but it's possible.

      @monikhushalpuri Před 8 měsíci +2

      Honestly all said and done (porting and what not) just get the Gen 5 or if you want to stay somewhat cheap and still have good potential with porting then go m112...it blows my mind that people even consider the m90 gen 3 even though yes it is cheap but the gen 5 m90 is already a better blower to begin with

      @jasonbirch1182 Před 8 měsíci

      @@monikhushalpuri yeah well, all blowers are the same price in the junkyard. You just gotta find one. No m112 except rover and jag. Haven't scored one yet because they're rare ish. Same as the gen 5. Never seen one near me and I have them set to email me when they show up.

    Very good like seeing cost going into the equation not just money for more. Have you got a GEN V LT1 on E85 versus pump gas?

    my guess richard on the power drop off is from the small hole in the adaptor plate for the supercharger and being at the front of the engine it is a pitty you didn't have egt sensors in the headers to see if it was running lean or rich on the rear cylinders but over all great video now to the meat and potatoes when are you going to do a barra motor build and dyno run cheers from down under

    Would like to see the charge IATs.
    And just a small spray of water/washer fluid/meth into the TB. Don’t need much.
    Valve float. Stock VS are good NA to 6k, with 6 and 8 psi boost you lose some VS pressure. Doesn’t take much more VS pressure just +10-20 psi will stop the valve float.

    You did mention that it had stock valve springs, could they have been floating causing the power to level/drop off?

  • @dinosshed

    Valve float. Maybe jam some water/methanol into the project. A pre blower splash to help seal and cool that junk.

    Using a flat plate top on that high rise (not-port matched) intake is a failure looking for a place to happen.
    The blower outlet is located faaar too far forward, so the front 4 cylinders will be happy, but the back 4 will be starving. The only way to fix that is by adding volume to the top of the manifold - enough to allow the fast-flowing air to slow down and diffuse, so that all 8 "single-cylinder engines" get a chance to breathe.
    Make use of a pyrometer to check EGT balance.

    Throttle body size seems like a restriction. How could I cheaply boost my 6.0 with SS2? I would prefer a supercharger over a turbo. I’ve owned several park ave’s with the SC 3.8. Love that platform!
