Bit curious if you would've expanded the post-modern point of "all adaptations are as valid interpretation of the original work" that could've gone a step further that not even the initial work could be considered in its "purest form" since it still had to be taken from the original creator(s) mind and channeled through their skill and talent of a medium to express and capture...which means there is innate interpretation and compromise at the start.
But yes to the fact the both the evidence within a work filter through one's own life experience lens will generate interesting, if not valid takeaways from a work.
Although more sinisterly from my point of view, after those readings are made of a work, how do they then circle back into the broader culture, whether through louder critics having a more convincing sway with their audience, or if an undercurrent of scandal generates its own narrative. .
Like specifically with Chainsawman as having been highly anticipated it also had a contrarian undercurrent of "surely it won't live up to the hype" and while the whole "the adaption changed and added a lot so its ruined (for having a full different vibe" it also played up an Anime of the Season storyline where people turned around and pointed to Bocchi as not just a hidden gem of the season but in a weirdly David and Goliath story of how an adaptation SHOULD be (I have no idea if any of the JP distributors had any real connection that the West did make).
So in fan discourses itself, not just drawing what can be read from a work, but there's also it's own meta game of what those readings will do (see:Gramsci and Bourdieu)

While I agree with you about not every perspective applying to every piece of media, I think it's kind of narrow-minded to dismiss the valid critizisms about representation of social minorities as people just trying to force an non-applicable reading into a text.
Most of the time, the people pointing out the weird treatment towards women/people of color/any minority group in a piece of media ARE engaging with the work and making the very real and backed-up observation that they are not the intented audience and that the narrative doesn't really respect them or see them as important. Trying to look past that can be really frustrating and alienating, especially when it's pretty much the norm all around you.
It's like going to a lecture hall where the professor is speaking in like, Ancient Sumerian - the content of the lecture might very well be the most profound thing ever but it's pretty difficult to appreciate its nuances when you are so clearly excluded from the audience it was intented to.
(Good video btw, just wanted to voice my thoughts on this one point.)

Could we say that, when a reading goes against the genre the work is intended, it is less interesting? E.g. criticizing a giant robot show that the robot's leg can't support the whole weight of its body.

Not necessarily, normally critiquing and subverting tropes have been pigeon holed into the whole deconstruction paradigm (blame TvTropes for everything). But when I think of a story that goes "everything against the genre" I actually think Rimworld

@@mcha226 at least the first half of that still stands, depending on how it's actually done about arguing if a show actually undermines its own goals and themes.
Actually in the literary tradition, critical theories are plenty useful like I know one guy who sees a video game of Mass Effect of portraying the enemy of humanity through an ideology of "saving things in a stagnant state"....but through the linear fashion of how the video game system works, instead Shephard and the player are effectively performing the same thing undermining its message, etc...

Words can't express how much I HATE Plato. if you want to cite the ancient Greeks the Stoics are more aligned with Anime Values.
Re:Creators is fascinating as it explicitly sides agaisnt Aeutor Theory.
Hitchens was a Reddit Atheists lucky enough to Die before that movement exposed how fundamentally Reactionary it always was.
