    Thank you for taking us along on your trip. This park is something that I would have otherwise never gotten to see. The view from the cliff dwellings was spectacular and thank you for pausing at the written signs enabling us to read them. Great video.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip to the national monument! It's one of those parks that's really out of the way and probably isn't so well known, so I'm really glad I was able to share it with you 💚

    Jojoba plant! that is the name! We really enjoyed this one in our household! Jojoba is a coffee substitute. Thanks for taking us with!!! I have always wanted to take extra cactus into these parks and plant them there! Your parents are great! Love em!

      Does that mean Jojoba produces beans too? Must Google. I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip, Mark!

      Jojoba is a nut bean like thing. I wondered more if it has caffeine.. its not in my area, so we aren't experienced with it, just hear the stories and read the books. lol! @@cookiescacti

    Great video and tour, thank you! It’s so wonderful to see so many Saguaro 🌵 healthy in habitat, I hope the heavy rains you had helped and didn’t harm them.

      The plants and Phoenix are looking a lot better after the winter rains! I was shocked when I visited my parents place and saw the cactus all plumped up. I hope they got a good long drink to prepare for the upcoming summer season!

      Lots of cool national parks and monuments in Arizona! Especially the smaller parks because they're usually less visited with less people. I think I've exhausted almost all the parks in a 4 hour drive radius around my house lol

    2:45 Was just gonna say, Buddy is ready to get to the top huh?! 🤣 I love that place. My partner and I went one time, taking a detour on the way back to Tempe from the rez. Could you imagine living there during that time? You said you were getting winded, they actually went down to the water and went out to get food 😂. It's so easy for us to complain about parking spots at the grocery store.

    • @cookiescacti
      @cookiescacti  Před 7 dny +1

      Your comment about us complaining about parking at a grocery store made me lol. Our whole lives now are built on convenience. I can't even imagine the endurance needed to stay alive back in the day.

    17:17 K'ish Bonéh, that's it's Ndee(Apache) name. It's used for a lot of things, primarily for our Mountain Spirit dancers, the headdresses they wear. It's also used for cradle boards. It's also referred to as Hágish Gísh Bii Gísh, The Lightning Stick. We're told not to play with them, or bother them, they can make you sick because they carry a lot of power.

    this video was beyond cool! here I was expecting a video of desert habitat and you throw in an ancient cliff dwelling. I'm stunned. obviously they grew corn; I assume those metates are original to the location.

    yeah, it's super cool. you should check out Great Sand Dunes National Park if you ever go up that way. i own five acres of land near there. not sure what i'll do with it though. it's in a high desert of south central Colorado so it can get quite cold. thanks for taking us along to see this.
