    This was very helpful. I don't think their website does a very good job at showing all this, so this filled in all the "holes" in my mind. We did teaching textbooks for many years, but I am switching because I like that Denison makes them write it out and correct their own work. Thanks!

    Thank you, that was very informative. We are doing Mr D this year...live class and they do the grades as well but I may switch to this curriculum...one question...are tests sort of timed meaning is there a suggested time e.g. 45 min or 60 min for a test or that is completetly up to the student? Also, what are the components of a grade? I see the completeion of a chapter and a test, right? Anything else? Thanks.

    • @homeschoolinghighschoolyears
      @homeschoolinghighschoolyears  Před rokem +1

      Hi! Tests are not timed…so you can use your discretion there. As far as grades go, it completion and checking/correcting of the lesson assignments and the chapter tests. Hope that’s helpful!

    Are the video lessons live? Just wondering if the student is able to work ahead. I have a child who loathes math and there are gaps from hopping from one math curricula to the next.
    She is going through The Learn Math Fast volumes l-lll with Life of Fred Intermediate books and the Fractions,Decimal + Percents books.
    This is more her style of learning. I think Denison will be a tremendous help for her though.
    Thanks again for this review video.

    How many lessons are there in the year? Do you know if the videos are renewable for younger siblings or do you have to purchase for each child?

    • @homeschoolinghighschoolyears
      @homeschoolinghighschoolyears  Před rokem +2

      I'm not sure how it works for the next child, but you would definitely need a new textbook as all the student practice and assignment work is done within that one book. The pacing guide says there are about 140 days. This includes the tests as well. We generally do 4 days a week (sometimes 5) and we will finish by the end of the school year.

    Thanks for doing this video! The solutions manual looks like it is in his handwriting ? Is the entire manual like that? It also looks like the answers to the test are like that too. I know I am probably being weird but that would bug me and probably my son also. Sometimes he likes to check his own work.

    • @homeschoolinghighschoolyears
      @homeschoolinghighschoolyears  Před rokem +1

      It is hand written. I imagine that's because he doesn't just show solutions he shows the steps as well. Students are supposed to check and correct their own work using his steps.

    Hi! Thank you for this video. I was deciding between 2 math curriculum and the denison math is ine of them. My daughter is leaning towards this one. My question is,does this curriculum do auto grading or would I have to grade the work myself? Thank you again

    • @homeschoolinghighschoolyears

      @@homeschoolinghighschoolyears Hi, so how do you get an overall grade for the class? Is there a part where you put the grade your child got on an assignment or a test onto the computer/into the system? I'm really having trouble understanding how I would get an "A" or "B" for this class on a transcript.

    We are using a very rigorous curriculum right now and their next grade's math does not have great reviews.. so, I am cosidering to switch to something more independant and comprehensive.
