  • How to install IP CCTV Cameras using multiple switches.
    The video shows the best strategy in connecting the cameras to non POE Embedded IP CCTV camera NVR through network switches to the NVR.
    The method used makes use of POE Switches to which POE IP Cameras have been connected and the switches have also been connected to a router, that also directs the camera videos to the NVR which is also connected to a LAN port on the Router.

    Thanks for the simple explanation. My situation is that I have a 4th cluster of cameras. How would I go about adding it? My router 4 port are all taken. My thoughts are either 1. Buy new router with more ports. 2. Connect new switch to one of the existing ones, I think there must be downside to this because you didn’t do it 3. Buy new router not internet and extend

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  Před 3 měsíci +1

      If you can afford a new router having more ports, that would be one of the best solutions.
      Having another limited port router linked to the main router would also be good.
      The addition of a new switch would work but not the best solution. There may be network congestions when you would have to handle many cameras.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out

      1. You can use extended power cables to the POE Switch.
      2. You can use IP cameras without NVR, in that case you won't have recordings on a hard drive, you would require an alternative video recording.
      3. The cameras require the use of Cat 6 cables to connect them. Extending power to the POE Switch will require a 3 core power cable

      You may skip the router and cascade the switches but when your cameras are many, you may be experiencing "device timed out" on your cameras.

      A 16 channel NVR can only take a maximum of 16 cameras. You would need a either a 32 channel NVR or better still a 48 channel NVR to cater for future expansion. You can use a combination of POE switches to get upto the number of POE ports you need.
