@2:19 Hancock's personality change makes total sense:
    1. Luffy is the first man not to be blindly attracted and commanded due to her beauty
    2. Luffy put his new friends' safety (Margaret) above his own interest
    3. Luffy upon hearing the fact that the boa sisters didn't want to expose their symbol of slavery save their faces during a fight against them
    4. Luffy using the conquerors haki, asserting himself as a worthy king
    5. Most importantly, Luffy is the only person stupid enough to punch a celestial dragon in the face without considering the consequences. Hancock immediately take a liking on luffy because she was once a slave and hates them more than anyone.
So in my opinion, Hancock loving Luffy is more justified than you think because:
    LOVE IS ALWAYS A HURRICANE!

i'd put long ring long land(it's a canon filler arc that even in the manga i felt could've been just a focus on the strawhats interactions on the going merry.),thriller bark(i love the oars fight, perona, cindry, moriah to an extent, brook, ryuma & the kuma fight but i did find it slow especially in hogback and absaloms parts.), and imo dressrosa(i like bartolomeo,fujitora,sabo/koala,laws past,rosinante,doflamingo,sugar/jora/baby 5 and the grand fleet's foundation but i think it really drags with the flashbacks,i think instead of a tournament arc carelessly leaving ace's fruit out it could've been a heist going through the controlled castle to take it,i would've had the sanji/nami group get separated by big mom at the end of the arc as i feel they would've had more interesting fights against the don quixote pirates instead of the gladiators/make the arc more straightforward if they stayed and i just feel rebecca could've been cut out.)
below amazon lily as i really love this arc(the grand showing of luffy's conquerors haki, the kuja's different looks, seeing luffy completely without his crew,Marguerite, boa's sisters marigold and sandersonia who i honestly find as sexy as hancock as well as underrated & especially boa hancock herself who's one of my favorite characters,is funny, beautiful especially the cute thumbnail for no.25 showing her & salome with that seductive "shhh" motion,i love her character arc which is different and better than previous attempts and definitely timeskip,a strong physical fighter that saved luffy's ass multiple times in marineford,i love her huge snake salome who she uses as a throne and has funny reactions in the 3d2y special,i love how her attraction towards luffy shows a different side to luffy as she doesn't try to force him to love her and luffy has a realistic reaction that feels better handled then other shonen jump heroes attempts at love as i'm just as excited seeing her & luffy together as friends just as much as i would be if they were lovers,i'm happy every time she shows up in a color spread/cover page & she's the person i want most for the next strawhat after jimbei.:3)

I know this is late, but i actually quite liked Moria. In a way, he was really similar to luffy. He had strong and deep connections to his crew and had super big ambitions as well. Not only that, but his power was fairly interesting and im sure he had some creative ideas in the past. but sadly, the death of his crew caused him to break down, and well adopt a whole new style. but honestly? I think the same thing would happen to luffy, well at least for a while, which made it interesting for me. That being said, im sure luffy resparked his interests and we will see a glorious return of moira.

I love the first arcs, where you see Luffy, just being... nice to Coby, and it changes his life completely, getting him into the marine - his dream no less.
And I love how we keep seeing Coby, being happy where he is, and remembering Luffy as... like his bestfriend or something..
And that, Luffy barely remembers him... to me it shows that, sometimes, to change the world, you don't always have to fight a Yonko... and that sometimes, just being nice to one another, is more than enough to make a very big difference in somebody else's world.

I love the explanation you give for each arc and its place. I also love that you don't follow the regular OP fan stereotype. Not everyone has to hate Fishman Island, for example. It's obviously not one of the best, but it's definitely not as bad as the community paints it to be. I still think Thriller Bark should have been a little higher up on the list, as well as Drum Island, but it's a personal thing, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Thriller Bark does have it's problems and the same goes for Drum Island, can't argue with your logic. I'm just a sucker for Chopper's background, as far as Drum Island is concerned. As for Thriller Bark, I'm a sucker for the whole story of Laboon, the introduction of Brook and Kuma, Bink's Sake, Zoro and Sanji's (people tend to forget the latter's) sacrifice and the sheer power of the Strawhats' teamwork, specially after such a divisive saga (Enies Lobby). Sorry that I respect your opinion so much, I don't think I belong on the internet. Can't wait for the second part!

I think Syrup Village as an arc is actually not the worst arc as it has a good antagonist in Kuro and Usopp while sometimes annoying is actually a great character due to him being the most human character in One Piece. However, if you compare it on an emotional scale and as a character introduction arc in the East Blue saga like Romance Dawn, Baratie and Arlong Park, it unfortunately doesn't do enough world building and lacks an emotional connection that the other arcs in the East Blue saga provide.

I think back to so much stuff that happened in Amazon Lily with Luffy. Luffy punching that leopard, fighting the snake sisters, using conquerors haki, and choosing to save his new friends over leaving the island in a heartbeat are really memorable (to me) moments. However this all pretty much happened near the end of it so I see why it might be forgettable.

Sabaody is FAR AND AWAY the best arc in One Piece. It LITERALLY CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF THE MANGA. Before the formula was "new island beat the big bad and move on." But this arc opened the entire world of One Piece and introduced characters that continue to affect the world of One Piece

I still think Moria would have benefited from NOT being a Warlord. Both the Warlords and Moria himself are lessened in the narrative by his inclusion. It makes the Warlords look weaker, and it makes Moria feel out of place. And, the alternative I have in mind would have made Moria have a much more interesting place in the story.
What would have been far more interesting would have been if he was a bounty hunter. Bounty Hunters have tragically no place in the story at all. It makes you wonder why New World pirates even have bounties at all. No bounty hunters seem to be up to the task of taking them down. But, if Moria were a bounty hunter, it'd put in the audience's mind the fact that there are indeed powerful bounty hunters out there.
You'd have to change NOTHING else about Moria's story. He'd still be a guy who had his original crew massacred by Kaido. Instead of a pirate crew, it was a bounty hunter crew. And, having them be high level bounty hunters explains why they were ambitious enough to try to take down high level pirate crews in the New World in the first place. He'd still be collected shadows from pirates foolish enough to enter the Florian Triangle. His main goal would still be to eventually amass a large enough army to take down Kaido. But, it would be for the sake of getting that sweet bounty. Just this ONE arc being about bounty hunters would make so much of the context of the entirety of One Piece feel a lot more interesting. And, it would save both Thriller Bark and Moria from being painfully lame.

    • @godlynukes773

Eh, not a bad idea. Was it Kaido or whitebeard that killed his crew? can't remember. Anyways, even if ur thought was in one piece, i think he would use the idea of bounties just as an excuse to get revenge. That sounds a lot more thrilling to me. And still the warlord part i find incredibly wrong. He was by far the weakest one for sure, but he also was still incredibly strong. He had a literal army at his command. He was like a crocodile 2.0, but i felt his "crew" was much stronger. But don't forget, luffy only beat him with one hundred times the power of what his original form was. A lot of people have estimated that's how strong new world luffy was at the start, and im sure when he first grabbed that position, he was much stronger. Since he had no practice, and was basically heartbroken by his crews death. I think the biggest fault in the warlord system, is most definitely crocodile, he was an amazing character and like you said, he was the only real showcase of any prominent bounty hunters in one piece, but he was introduced way to early, and was made out to be way too weak. Moira, even tho he lost, luffy still had a huge upgrade to beat him, so it made sense, crocodile on the other hand got outclassed by a basically a weakling. Seems off

I personally disagree with your stance on Hordy Jones. I think he was a scary villain because he had no personal vendetta against humans, like Arlong or Tiger Fisher. He and his friends grew up in an area that openly resented humans, and adopted their past prejudices as a result. It's how racism works, and is the strongest point of the arc in my opinion. 12:08 The whole arc is about beginnings and ends, the whole city is referred to as "The city of the beginning and the end" and it's called "Loguetown" Logue, as in ~logue, like in prologue and epilogue, of course there will be references about beginnings and endings, it's what the whole place, and portion of the story is about. That's also why Roger was both born and killed in that city. And being a manga purist, as you claim to be, you should rank Loguetown lower than many other arcs, no matter how much I do like it, for one simple reason: It's unfinished. Oda wanted the crew to enter the Grand Line at chapter 100, so he left a huge chunk of the Loguetown arc out of the manga. Daddy Masterson's story came later on in a light novel, but there's stuff that hasn't appeared anywhere, that was intended by Oda himself to be part of that arc

There was that moment in whisky peek where Zoro and Luffy are fighting and then some form of haki seems to act up in Zoro, which I don’t know how that’s revenant here but I do think is pretty cool

LRLL had the seminal fight with Aokiji, perhaps the most shocking threat ever preented in the story. This fight is part of the arc and it raises LRLL greatly.

Good list especially I like how you put Fishman island above than some arcs because alot of people consider it one of worst arcs but I love the themes in that arc. I might be in minority but I don't like skypea arc that much whereas I enjoyed Thriller bark arc because it has funny moments and then that Zoro moment is still in my mind and also like Drum island because of Dr hilliuk and Chopper backstory and overall I love the atmosphere in that arc

I'm going to go through a few of the bottom ranked arcs and mention why I think they're still pretty good, but maybe not up there with the likes of Enies Lobby, Dressrosa, Water 7, etc.
Syrup Village: I still think it's pretty good. A simple but well told story about bravery and cowardice, I personally like Usopp as a character even back then, and Kuro is a pretty good antagonist for Luffy and Usopp.
Orange Town: Establishes the overall themes of One Piece very well and establishes the difference between a "good" pirate and "bad" pirate effectively.
Long Ring Ling Land: The placement of this arc in the story makes this arc feel much more vital to the series than people might think. This is the arc right before arguably, the darkest saga of the series (Water 7 saga) and it creates a wonderful juxtaposition. This is the end of the first act of One Piece. A lot people hate this arc, I thinks its a pretty good comedy.
Drum Island: This is in my personal top 5 arcs. It might be mostly because of the flashback, but my god what a flashback.
Fishman Island: "I don't think [Hody Jones] deserves the hatred he gets from the fanbase." I think he's a pretty greatly written villain. While not a Lucci, Doflamingo, or Akainu, Hody Jones is a really good antithesis of the many villains and heros of the series. A man who didn't personally experienced the atrocities of his people, but still is so full of hate that he's a total piece of shit.

my problem with hody is that he's too weak, and relies off those drugs, and even with those drugs he's still weak. Not only that but we have basically no way to ever seem him again, and that's what i love about one piece. Crocodile, Buggy, that one octopus dude (dont know how to spell his name lol), and so on return to the story which is pretty cool, not only that but people like gin (still waiting on this one lol) that might return one day, and people like the Cp9 people who are basically guaranteed to return. These type of things always give me so much hype with the characters, but theres no way we'll see that dude again.

The only ranking i disagree on is the post war arc, i loved it and enjoyed seeing a more sad side of one piece. It really made every character seem like they actually have emotion and aren’t just monsters. The “fight” against Luffy and Jimbei especially

This is an amazing video and i can see that a lot of effort has been put into it but why, why is post war so low like do you really hate it that much? Ngl its definitely one of my fav acrs and i will never forget it. Even though the arc is really sad from the strong loving brotherhood form by luffy, ace and sabo to the tragic "death" of sado, its just an unforgetable arc.
