Great overview but I won’t upgrade from my iPad Pro m1 11" until it breaks
And that is the smartest thing anyone with these M devices should do! Unless you just invest alot in tech
I have M1 iPad as well and am upgrading. I’ve wanted an OLED iPad for a long time and feel it’s worth but, along with landscape camera, but that’s it. Software still holds this capable device back.
I have iPad Pro 12.9 M1 I would love the 13 inch model I bets it’s much faster then my current one, wonder if my photos will look better from my iPhone 15 pro max when I transfer em to the new iPad Pro 13 inch
@@davidmcottrellyup most iPads are for watching videos anyways so also upgrading my 11 m1 basically just for the oled finally
Likewise im also not upgrading from my ipad pro M1.
still using my 4th gen ipad pro 12,9 inch. Still works fine
Ordered a 13 pro 2Tb and Pencil Pro with Magic Keyboard I’m ALL IN
Don’t preorder until around the 30th. Apple only offers 14 day returns and you’ll want to see iPadOS 18 before that window closes.
I’ve been thinking the same
@@airlinepilot25 the general consensus is that the iPad is limited by its software, and there’s rumoured to be some big updates coming with iPadOS18, that might be an inflection point for the iPad’s usefulness. Anyone with an M iPad or even an older Pro already has plenty of performance to do almost anything you’re able to do in iPadOS in its current form, so if there aren’t any major updates your probably better saving a few hundred pounds and getting an M1/M2 iPad Pro or Air.
@@louis_sharp every year this is rumored and every year it doesn't happen. I doubt they ever bring macOS to iPad as CZcamsrs suggest they will every year.
new pencil features seem really cool. as for hardware mini 6 is over powered for tablet. heck most people could probably get by with iPad 9.
@@sly2792004totally agree. I got an M1 iPad Pro for the pretty hardware, but I know that I’ll mostly be using 30% of its performance potential. Buy it for what it is now and you can’t be disappointed
@@airlinepilot25Exactly what I said
Thank you for a wonderful video. Keep up the great work Aaron
I don’t really understand putting such a powerful chip in an iPad when the OS is so limiting
Don’t ask questions, just consume the product and be happy.
Well, we have seen many times over now that there is a big leap in the next OS update. I think there is a reason for the M4. The biggest benefit of the M4 is that it will have further support for OS updates in the future. M3 will have less compatibility with software and hardware further ahead. So I believe it is more value for money. I have my Apple devices for long periods of time, it's incredible how long you can utilise them. I still run an old Macbook Pro from late 2013. I have treated it really roughly over the years traveling and being on set. I use it as a photographer professionally and for lecture presentations etc. Need a new one soon but what value for the money ha. Divide that computer cost over 11 years, it would never happen on a non-Apple computer.
By the way @zollotech, my first and ever iPad was the very first one which came out. It was brilliant at the time but got old really quickly. I am intrigued by the new Pro and consider buying it.
production costs. simple as that more products they have that use same chip the cheaper that chip is to make. to a point anyways, mean putting it in Apple TV that sales for price it cost to make m4 chip wouldn't make sense. come fall all Macs will move to m4.
Thanks for always giving us pretty and insightful videos...
Got an iPad gen 7 in 2020.
Today, I preordered the Air 11”.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
Great review on new iPad Pro m4 ❤❤❤❤❤
Picking it up on Wednesday 11 pro baseline
Waiting impatiently for the new Mini. It's the size that works for me. Hurry up, Tim.
Thanks for the content.
I wish they would do a mini pro as when I am finished on my pro max and go to the iPad the 60hz kills my eyes but I don’t want a large iPad hence the need for a mini pro
@@ashleyiphone15ProMax My current iPad is a Mini 5th Gen, and the screen quality is definitely shown up by my iPhone 13 Mini. I’ve even started watching some content on my phone.
Stellar review , and much needed tips for M4 iPad Pro . Arron I have a M1 I pad pro 12.9 , and I would really like if you think , if it’s a major update . I’m on the fence now . But I always go to you for super needed reviews and more .
I just ordered the 13 inch pro for tomorrow I'm so excited.
Great video
Aaron thank you
Great review! I still have my 12.9 iPad Pro 4th generation, 128 g still working find. If I decide to buy the new Pro is because starts at 256 g, will. You did not mention, both iPads the Air and the Pro comes with speakers and Spatial Audio?
I have a M2 pro....it still plays YT fine....no way upgrading....
Goooood morning… tim Apple here. I’d advise you to ditch that 2 year old iPad that’s pretty much useless so you can watch CZcams with a nice OLED panel. Mini LED is no where near our new Tandem pandem OLED. What is even an M2 chip any ways!! Get yourself an M4.
Now you can play it even faster! with M4!
This isn’t targeted at you. Unless you are well off and enjoy your toys.
I still use iPad Pro 11 inch (3rd gen), not too bad right now
Should have just gotten an iPad Air or regular iPad for youtube watching and browser surfing ....
Great review video giving clear precise information on the new iPads
Great review as always, thanks.
Looking to replace my 2017 iPad Pro with the new iPad Air 11”. Not sure how I feel about them both being 500 nits, I was expecting more if I'm honest. Hopefully the other specs make up for it! 😂
Great Video! I’m planning on keeping my 12.9 inch iPad Pro M1. M1 is still powerful.
Keeping my 12.9 M2
Well it’s not meant for people who have any iPad Pro after 2019. Personally I’ve been using an iPad 6th gen and I would definitely love this. You don’t need to upgrade iPads every 2 years, infact you need to upgrade every 7-8 years since they are so powerful.
Me too
I’d do the same but my 2018 iPad Pro is only 64gb so I’m upgrading. 💀
@@LogicLegionnaire I have m1. the new pencil features and function keys are temping me. already missing out on the hover feature. though im also tempted to wait for 8th gen pro cause it'll probably add some new pencil feature this one won't get.
Thanks Aaron. I have my one and only iPad Air 3.
Does the new iPad Pro keyboard disconnect from the case and then can be used separately and then reconnect so it's hole again?
Great video! I am curious to see if the missing performance core of the CPU of the M4 on 256 GB/512 GB models will be a problem by comparing it to M2.
Hello Aron mate won’t to no what’s the best way to charge my utra2 so I can preserve my battery health as I’ve noticed that after 6months it gone down to 99% cheers mate hope to hear from u
Should I update from 2018 iPad Pro to iPad Pro 13in
Just ordered Pro 13”
I’m happy that Me & My family all have the 9th Gen iPad! But now that it’s discontinued, We’re not upgrading anytime soon!!
Where can I recycle my Pencil 2? Through environmental-friendly Apple?
I got mine pre-ordered. I’m coming from a 2018 12.9 iPad Pro and I’m ready for the upgrade.
My 2018 iPad Pro was spec’d out at the time and I have done the same with my M4 iPad Pro 13.
Very excited to get it Wednesday.
I’d like to, but haven’t decided which one I want yet.
My first and only iPad was the iPad 10.5 in. I am still using it to this day. Currently, watching this video on it now!
Will you be able to use Bluetooth MacBook keyboard andor trackpad from M1 era?
I ordered the 13” Air 128GB and Smart Folio case
First video I’ve seen to mention the RAM difference. Good job.
I wish that had been more clear anywhere during the ordering process. I had to cancel my first order and do a new order with a 1TB.
I would like a Mac Air with 15 inch display with M4 chip and OLED? When can I expect it too come out? Thank you….. ❤❤❤
With esims you can keep multiple profiles on there and have two active esim profiles working so I don't see the pain when it comes to traveling unless you're going to a place where they only accept physical SIM cards
Pre-ordered mine today, Pro 13", 512GB + keyboard
do you think getting an ipad pro m2 11” 128gb is worth it for $677 brand new?
I have the 2021 m1 iPad Pro, but I am considering the upgrade, what do you think?
Thanks
Save your money! Especially if you have the Apple Pencil second generation because you will have to buy a new Apple Pencil to use with the new iPad pros. I just don’t see the value here! I was issued that same iPad Pro last year for work and it does everything that I need to. With these M1 chips there is going to be support for years. Not to mention, you have to get completely new accessories for the new iPad pros because it’s looking like the old accessories are no longer compatible. G. That first generation magic keyboard with trackpad.
Nice video
I was wondering whether this can be made as kind of semi-laptop? With that chipset, of course it would be more powerful than typical tablets
But some mentioned about iPadOS barrier, is it that bad? Haven't try MacOS before
Used to own 10.5” iPad Pro for 5 years (since 2018). Planning to upgrade to the 13” M2 iPad Air
You’ll instantly notice the lack of Pro Motion. Get the pro instead.
@@adityagittei agree with this. u will feel disturbed once that displays refreshes slower
@@adityagitteI’m making the same move and pro-motion just doesn’t justify the price difference, for me anyway. I suppose it depends what you use it for.
Do you think it will worth to buy iPad Air m2? I came from samsung tab a7 and want to buy entry level iPad.
Typing this comment from my 2017 10.5 inch ipad pro. Still running ok but the battery life has been degraded quite a bit. Thinking about making the upgrade plunge to this round of pros.
I currently have an iPad Pro 11 inch with the M2 chip. I personally do not see a need in upgrading my iPad is already powerful enough and i don’t do anything crazy on it. It is nice that they have a bigger version of the Air though i think that is a nice plus so you are not forced to get the IPad Pro if you want a bigger tablet.
Using m2 pro11 inch 4 th gen won’t be upgrading anytime soon. Please tell me is the new denim folio case compatible with my model ? If that’s the case that is the only upgrade I need
Speck case is great.
I still have my M1 Pro doing great.
Hey love your video so much but I’m just wondering if they will add the Mac games onto the iPad Pro M4 like they said it themselves the M4 pro is a computer just touch screen the new keyboard is exactly like the Mac keyboard so they should be able to add MacBook games on the m4 pro if the iPad is exactly like a Mac ? And it’s the same price as a Mac
more then MacBook actually. MacBook Air is $1,099 while iPad Pro with keyboard is $1,650
Hi my first iPad was the iPad three last year. I had a 12.9 iPad Pro with keyboard and and pan. I have a iPad 11 inch with the M1 and I had in 256 with the M2. I had 128 gig of memory, but with the new iPad Pro 11 inch I went for one terabyte and the new non-glare screen. It’s going to take me a couple weeks to get it so they tell me, but I’m very excited about it especially the weight and the thickness.
I first have the iPad Air to then jumped to the iPad Pro 10.5 inch. After four or five years I upgraded mine to the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch and will probably stay with this iPad for a few years because it’s still running smoothly and fast.
Didn't know we won't get the charger in EU. Ordered it right after the event. Super annoying now I have to order a charger too. Thanks for the video very helpful
My first iPad was the 4th gen with new lightning, and second one is 2020 ipad pro. Yes I’ve used a looong time.
I have the 2017 iPad Pro i think it time for me to upgrade and i think im gonna go with the 13” iPad Air
You will miss the audio quality! Even the 13 inch iPad Air only has two speakers compared to the four speakers that you were 2017 Pro has.
My first and current iPad is an M1 256Gb iPad Air. I’m waiting for WWDC to see what is happening with iPad OS before I decide whether to upgrade.
I enjoyed your video. My first iPad was the iPad 2. It had lasted me 4 years until it met its fate to flooding. My next one was an IPad mini 4. It lasted almost 7 years before I gave it to someone. Currently have the iPad Pro M2 12.9 and will not be upgrading. They last a long time when you take care of them. I love tech but not enough changes in an IPad to plop down a hefty price tag every year or 2 for a few little features.
I have a M1. I’m definitely upgrading.
Not planning to upgrade . It’s going to be too expensive and my current iPad Pro is doing just fine .
Aaron, can you please tell me if the new iPad Air 13” has the same screen as the old iPad Pro (2021/22)?
No. The old pros have mini led with a Liquid Retina XDR display and has 120 refresh rate. The air is just a regular Liquid Retina display with 60 refresh rate
I still have a 4th gen 11 inch iPad Pro. These look great, but I’ll only upgrade if this one messes up
Hi Aaron, hope you’re well? Really enjoy your channel. I was considering updating my iPad Air 4 to the new iPad M2 Air 13 inch or iPad M4 Pro 13 inch, but I’m a little confused and frustrated by how Apple have released their line up, especially when needing to include the required accessories. Also, I’m not sure how the pricing strategy works? I’m in the UK and wonder why the costs of the new iPads are the same in the US and UK? At $799 and £799 for the iPad M2 Air the equivalent current exchange rate in the UK (1 USD = 0.79 GBP) means that the cost should be £638? I appreciate that you’re not an Apple employee but wondered if you were able to clarify why the pricing is like this? Thanks Aaron. 😊
I have my 12.9 256 m2 pro with 10664 on geekbench it’s fine, with my use didn’t see ANY differences
Man, those benchmark numbers are just crazy! It crushes my M1 Pro MacBook Pro.
I am still deciding between this 13inch Pro variant and MacBook Air with M3. I would like to get the iPad but the bezels are still too huge. In other angle of view: touchscreen is my goal so it looks the iPad will take the win.
Keeping my mini 6 iPad 😊
My first ipad was the ipad 2
My first iPad was an iPad Air 1st gen. My current iPad is an iPad mini 6 I hope to maybe upgrade to a pro later this year as my phone is a pro max and it would be nice to have the iPad match it.
ipad pro m2 or ipad air m2 ?? both 11in size
I’ve had iPads since the first generation. However I won’t be updating my 12.9“ pro to the M4.
I have an M1 iPad Pro and it still plays CZcams and Netflix just fine
I’m going to upgrade from my iPad Pro m1 11 to the new iPad Pro m4 13. It’s going to be a great upgrade with the bigger, better screen
Any recommendations on cases for the pro 13”?
if you need a keyboard, I noticed logitech has one that the keyboard can detach nicely
I’ve had an iPad since the original. Currently the M2 11 Pro. I’m going to go check out the new M4 11, but the wow factor with the screen would have to be really high for me to change.
Are the bezels on the iPad Air smaller than the older model? Or are they the same?
Same bro
I’m tempted to get the new Pro, since my 2020 IPad Pro 11” has to be powered off and on more than I’d like. After a while, it has problems with Airdrop or apps crashing on launch.
Trade it in. I am even though I have an 11” m2 just for the display mainly
Isn’t that more an iPadOS issue? I find I have to reboot (powering off & on) both my iPad & my iPhone at least weekly, especially when using multiple music/video/radio apps. My iPhone is my radio these days. I just play it through earphones or speakers. So it involves regular rebooting.
My first iPad was a first gen iPad mini. I just ordered the new iPad Air 11" with 256GB, Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard to replace my iPad 7th Gen. Looking forward to the new device and the increased processing power. Not to mention the greater battery life as my current iPad is down to less than 50% power as it only lasts about 3 hours of web browsing before a recharge is needed.
I am so glad they finally made the displays identical between both the 11” and the 13” models. This made buying the 11” model so much more easier. I got the model I was looking to get with a Silver, Cellular, 256gb model. Fortunately they made the base storage 256gb so I didn’t need to make a decision with that. But… I have to buy the new pencil considering the 2nd gen is no longer compatible with the new M4 iPads :/
Apple education discount really helped out a decent amount. An overlooked site that people forget about. You don’t even need credentials to purchase from there.
I ordered the new I pad pro with the keyboard and 1 terabyte storage with Wi-Fi.
Great! Now get the next one!
In the US, the back to school Apple discounts usually kicks off some time in June or July… I will be waiting until then or after WWDC to order.
No stickers in the box?!? Thats dealbreaker for me 🤔
3:40 I ordered my iPad Pro M4 13” through AT&T as an upgrade. They didn’t even give me the option to buy a lower tier storage option. I had two options: (1) 1TB with Nano Texture, (2) 2TB with Nano Texture. I was going for the 512GB with regular display. I don’t really have an issue with the reflectivity, but I didn’t have a choice but to get nano texture. But I’ll keep an open mind about it. I’ve heard some say that they can’t tell a difference with nano texture when it comes to color saturation and sharpness, or that it’s just barely perceptible. Apple put it on a Pro Display XDR panel, and that was meant to be used for studio work and as a reference monitor alternative. So I’ll give it a shot.
I wanted a pro for the 1tb storage. Now i'll save money with the air.
Why no AOD on iPad Pro?
That is very exciting! I am decided to pick up the iPad Air one terabyte model. It has plenty of room for what I need it for and I’m glad that Apple has introduced an Apple Pencil Pro that works for both models, but it would’ve been better if they had just kept the regular Apple Pencil second generation around for the iPad Air model. Can you connect an iPad to your iPhone phone for Dad usage? I have AT&T for my phone service.
Yes, get the cellular model and put a 20 monthly plan with AT&T or just hotspot it from your phone but the cellular model is worth it. Google iPad cellular apple and click the apple link.. typing this on my cellular air 5, awaiting my 2tb 13” pro with the nano textured glass
I know why the iPad Pro 11 inch doesn’t have the black usb cable because there’s black color option and there’s and get the black cable
Can we get blender or fusion360 on the iPad now? I feel like it can handle it.
I think fusion360 is on it already
Thank you as always 😎
Thank you Aaron for this great overview - losing the millimeter wave on the cell versions and the additional camera on all versions certainly seems like de-contenting to me. I can't imagine that the new Pro lineup will sell well - the cost of the devices, along with having to buy all new accessories, has moved this iPad firmly into higher end mac territory. Perhaps WWDC will provide more clarity - we'll see.
I have iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen no major just a tablet to browse and render some videos from time to time …
Would you upgrade from this iPad to air m2 13”? Suggestions?
No don’t buy air it would be a downgrade in many aspects
@@EvgenyElbertLumafusion
@@TanishaWritesthat’s what I though
The pro even tho is a bit older and doesn’t have a M chip seems still better than the air
@@acm0810 yes and overall iPad Air seems a downgrade for even the a12z iPad Pros

I’m Keeping My iPad Mini 6th Generation. The Design & Portability Is Perfect With The 256GB Version & The Apple Pencil 2. 😊
Hi Aaron, great video (as always).
Just an FYI, you said at 6:13 the Apple Pencil Pro is the only pencil you can use on the new iPads - not sure if you said that by mistake. But the cheaper USB-C Apple Pencil also works on the new iPad Pro & iPad Air.
Pre-ordered the new iPad Pro 13” (256Gb) and can’t wait. Upgrading from an old iPad Air. So this is my first Apple silicon chip iPad! 😁
It was a mistake. That’s why I put a photo that it will work with the USB-C version also
@@zollotech sorry Aaron, I missed the photo. I knew you wouldn’t miss this. 🙏🏻
An iPad without a charger included in the eu and uk is insane
Ordered the iPad Pro 13, Magic Keyboard and pencil pro.💀👍
Would have way perfect the same thickness and doubling the battery.
Should I get the new iPad Air
If they aren't going to differentiate by generation, how do they intend to tell one model apart from another? Will they refer to them as iPad Pro 2024? There are differences in specs that we have to know if we are buying them used
My guess is iPad Pro M4 13 inch, iPad Pro M5 11 inch in future etc
Thank you Aaron for everything 🍻
