      It was only after the fact that I forgot to mention integrated armour modules but that can go in the inevitable video

    So would you design a purpose built tactical ship to defend against missiles/aircraft or would you give point-defense abilities to most strategic ships and rely on massed fire?
    It doesn't seem realistic to assume it's possible to evade every missile/aircraft the AI launches. Therefore it follows that sufficient sprints and point defense fire is a requirement to avoid losing a few hours spent on a run.

      @clankplusm  Před rokem +2

      just use T-7's with AAMs as first line and a Lightning charging into the threat as second line. A Lightning is the best vanilla air defense ship in the game even without firing a single shot (You'll need to shoot 15P's down tho).
      It's pretty easy to cut down the AI to just random missile groups throwing 2x A100 at you in terms of threats, SGs are cake to avoid

    Thank you for this. I especially am excited for your edited video that compartmentalizes and labels different topics; I need a review on sensors and the 3x5 meta.
    Question, with how splash damage and how under modules work (like fire extinguishers), would it be better to use 1x1 hulls for everything instead of 2x1's? I discussed this on forums with other players before, and we're still not sure.

    • @clankplusm
      @clankplusm  Před rokem

      as long as the module is fully contained in its own 2x1, a 2x1 seems more logical to me to use in most cases, as well as for some kinds of near-exterior mountings. It's turbo situational though.
      What's the 3x5 meta exactly? Ive only been playing since 1.15 and mostly been on discord so haven't heard that term b4

      @@clankplusm I see. Too bad we don't have definitive math on shell penetration and splash damage to confirm or deny this.
      I could have sworn you mentioned something called a 3 by 5 or 3 by 4 meta when talking about guns.

    • @clankplusm
      @clankplusm  Před rokem

      @@clyax113 oh, probably the 3-5 gun meta, its just a generally accepted range of guns that can tackle SGs while not making the ship overweight or oversized. It's a niche term though, don't expect everyone to agree on a number.

    • @clyax113
      @clyax113 Před rokem

      @@clankplusm What is that range of guns?

    • @clankplusm
      @clankplusm  Před rokem +1

      3-5 Molot or AK100 on a Corvette / Frigate platform, usually Molot, more makes your hitbox / ship bloated more than necessary and less isnt really worth doing

    this was very helpful, thank you!
    the only thing i was really wondering that you didn't cover was what triggers a module to "raise"? maybe that is something that's no longer applicable, but it seems vital to getting weapon coverage and i don't understand when and how it's happening.

    • @clankplusm
      @clankplusm  Před rokem

      surrounding it with modules, and from there having said modules be elevated. It's more of an intuition thing though, I can't exactly explain
