Dear Doctor, I have a 10yo patient who is a skeletal Class 2 with a high angle and mildly increased lower face height. In this case would you avoid the use of a twin block because, as you say, it will open the bite further and increase the lower face height? How would you advance the mandible in a case like this to avoid the bite opening effect? Thank you
The downward and forward growth of mandible is inevitable but an orthodontist will guide you better. Please visit an orthodontist and get your queries resolved. The difference isn't much though. The orthodontist will determine face height and suggest the device. Twin block/myofunctional appliances are usually avoided in extremely long faces. No two cases are same. Theory is very different from what we practice.
