Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group 1966 (US rel.)

This 1966 US release of "Gimme Some Lovin'" by British band The Spencer Davis Group reached #7 in the Billboard chart. The first release, or "master" take, of the song occurred in the UK and differs in several respects. There it reached the #2 spot. The US release was made more appealing to the American taste by adding percussion, and a female chorus. However, the very first actual recording of the song was by an American band called The Jordan Brothers who's record company some how got their hands on a demo tape by Steve Winwood who primarily wrote the song and was a member of The Spencer Davis Group. The Jordan Brothers version was released in 1966 just prior to the SDG US release. "Gimme Some Lovin'" was also covered by The Blues Brothers in the 1980 movie of the same name.
