Mr Ben Burns is a personal hero of mine, I'm looking forward for the day I can meet him in person. Been following the futur and also you, Ran for a quite a while now. So glad you could meet and make this great video for everyone out there. Thank you so much to both of you! Saludos in Spanish from Vietnam
"Be willing to open the door to the unknown". @mrbenburns Excellent interview, incredible story. @Flux I know you are very busy there but if you could do a couple of interviews more would be great 🙌🏻
Ran, I saw Demian Borba just at the beginning of this video. He is one of the Project Managers responsible for the Adobe XD project, at Adobe. A great guy to talk and worth interviewing. Take care!
TheFutur (blind) is só awesome. Chris Do, Ben Burns, Matthew Encina and Jose from the old videos. And I'll bet all the less known people there are amazing designers and teachers. Chris is literally one of my most important role models.
Just quit my job to jin a small design team to push myself - thank you for sharing this story. Makes me feel even more comfortable with my decision. Cheers
This is a good story, TheFutur have spoken to Ben about this before, very inspiring... I've recently been quoting what i think is fair for a logo design and people are pushing back. I'm going to stick with it and hopefully they'll be some out there that will respect my work and knowledge and want to build something together.
I'm so glad this came up in my reccommended because I needed to hear this for real! Thank you for this video! I heard Chris do say raise your rates and fire all of your clients and to see what it's done for someone else I have to respect it and do the same.
That’s an amazing story. I heard it back in one of The Futur videos a while ago, but it’s definitely a story worth to hear every once in a while. Great piece of content !
I am completely sure now, Google listens to our thoughts. I am almost broke, trying to get clients and more money, I'm freaking out and this video pops up recommended. Feeling a little bit better now.
Great Video! I'm Mr. Ben Burns fan from the very first time when he was on thefutur, doing one on one interview with Chris, his story is very inspiring. Amazing that you have a chance to meet and network with people like him, I'm hoping that some day I will have a chance to visit some design event like the work week in yesemite. Cheers from Macedonia!
wow I think in some manner am matching you guys though I have not started my freelance career am yet a learner but I have decided from the day one that I will start with high price that I deserve and will never devalue my skills even if I failed to make a single client and I will start any other job like driving truck etc for $300 or less a month but will never devalue my professional skills by just trying to survive.
I love how instead of asking Ben to raise his rates, Chris asked him to fire his clients. He set the expectation that *none of them* would agree to the rate raise. And when those few did - they were worth all the rest combined.
I really like this dude. His story inspired me. I left my teaching job last June to pursue new things and it was really scary. I'm still building my new life. Baby steps.
Thank Ran, you make awesome videos, lemme tell you something. I am not a designer, I am a software engineer but your videos became part of my life, so I eat lunch and listen to your stories and learn from them. (I do a bit of freelancing alongside of my permanent job though). Any chance to have a link of the video he mentioned from Chris Doe?
Hi, Ben, right now your story is blowing my mind. This is point I am now, upgrading my client to the high paying ones. The ones I have now pay little but their works are really choking me. Ben teach me strategy. I am in Africa, so I always believe that the response to the step you took is gonna have a poor result here (mindset differences). But please I need help in this area. Thanks.
Bro, I too am in Africa, if your clients don't want to be paying clients, find clients who are willing to pay. Seriously, all that grind for no cash and then making excuses for your clients about mentality hurts only you. Simple question for your clients, if you came to their businesses and consumed a service and did not pay, will they like that?
If this dude wrote a book of his story I'd buy like 5 copies.
The Futur + Flux = YES
Absolutely
STRONG LOOK. 👊
The Man
The Myth
The Legend

I love how instead of asking Ben to raise his rates, Chris asked him to fire his clients. He set the expectation that *none of them* would agree to the rate raise. And when those few did - they were worth all the rest combined.
Work and value your work is the most important thing to do running your own business.
It was awesome to hear ur story.
Wow, even after all of these examples, I'm still so afraid to charge someone 5 to 6 figures for a project.
I really like this dude. His story inspired me. I left my teaching job last June to pursue new things and it was really scary. I'm still building my new life. Baby steps.

Love this story. And you know those 2-3 clients that stuck on are the ones you really want to keep because you know they value you and your work.
