    Thanks for the tip. We did this route as a family trip over three days on the Bank Holiday. My 12 yo managed out very well.
    That loop on the north end was very hard to follow the route with lots of mud, and the last 5ish kms when it goes west before going back east to finish in Brockenhurst, I'd say it's not worthy. Lots of traffic.
    As for the rest, it's a very nice route. Thanks!

    Not sure if you know but for some added bike security when you pop into a shop your Garmin edge has a bike alarm feature. If anyone moves your bike it makes a hell of a racket…. Enjoying your chilled bike packing videos.

    Planet X do a small retractable combination lock. It's great for nipping into shops, and doubles as a clothes line at camp! 😉

    Last week I had the opportunity to ride the gravel route in the New Forest, and I must say, it's one of the best collections of gravel roads and paths in New Forest. The route is designed so well that it flows very smoothly, making it an enjoyable ride for everyone.
    But, while most of the route is in great condition, I did encounter one small issue with a narrow bridleway around the farms just before Roydon Woods. The path is hardly passable, especially with a loaded bike, due to a broken barbed wire fence and severe path erosion. It would be great if you could reroute this section of the path to make it accessible for everyone. Overall, I loved the route and found it to be an incredibly enjoyable ride. I commend all involved who created this fantastic route, and I hope that small issues like the one I encountered can be addressed. Keep up the excellent work!

    Another great video. TNF is a beautiful area for sure. I only know the tarmac roads from the Audax rides I did down there a few years ago. They can get quite busy with the iron carriages, so would love to visit the off-road trails sometime soon.

    New Forest is amazing, I'm lucky to live here. Thanks for the video, glad to hear I'm not only one that crazy. Done few bike packing trips myself.
    As of the lock, if you are biking light, this lock might help you - I wouldn't use it for locking the bike in Bournemouth town centre, but places like shops would do: AXA Defender Frame Lock incl. RLC 100. The chain is small(but strong) enough to keep it under the bike seat in the bag. Since I put that on few months ago, I haven't token it off(you do attach the main unit to the bike frame, thanks Germany). No more fiddling around with D-lock(but D-lock is advised for not so safe places). I keep a tool box next to the crank, using bottle box - it is hanging down.

    Another great video and has a very relaxing feel to it. Does the hammock get cold at night with the cold air circulating below it? If so how do you keep warm and why a hammock over a small tent? Keep doing what you're doing!

    • @Xaltae
      @Xaltae Před 2 lety +1

      Hammocks will get cold as you compress the bottom of your sleeping bag by lying on it, so pretty much no insulaton below you. You can use a ground sleeping pad in your hammock, or you can buy a hammock underblanket which hangs below your hammock, which is comfier and probably warmer.

    Great route, new forest is local to me and recognised loads of it! Might try this as my first bike packing trip. I’ve noticed that you upload all your routes in one go, does this mean you don’t turn your garmin off overnight and how does this work when you are riding for a few days?

      Press stop on the Garmin at night, don't delete or save ride. It switches itself off after a couple of minutes inactivity, recharge if needed. Turn it on the next day, press start and off you go. When you upload should all be one continuous ride.
