- I make a coffee and think of a concept, idea, discussion point or whatever to do with sports performance and sport science. No right or wrongs, no recommendations. Grab a coffee and think outside the box for a bit.

Are you more scientific/research focused OR do you take more insight from what you experience in the field?
Great chat Nick.
I tend to lean towards the scientific end of things too, but have started to add in more 'opinion/experience' based approaches.
I have found that some of the people who i work with that talk about evidence based approach tend to forget that optimal evidence based approach includes scientific literature and clinicians opinion/experience. Implementing with the athlete/patient in shared decision making like you mentioned.
I absolutely agree. Why not take all the available information in first then make decisions.
Research is incredibly useful, however I can guarantee those at the forefront of performance aren’t waiting 3 years for a study to get published to try a methodology. They’re constantly pushing the limit based on intuition, prior knowledge/evidence and by being inquisitive and explorative with their ideas.
