  • The sports nutrition industry is full of clever marketing and often whoever has the money to spend, will generally sell more product. In this case, a new entrant into the hydration space is PRIME and it’s already making waves by signing as the “Official Hydration Partner” of a number of BIG professional sports teams. But what’s the deal? Does it actually hydrate you or is this all really just a gimmick from a couple of social media personalities to make a few dollars?
In this video we breakdown sweat, including what you actually lose during exercise and how there are far better options out there to rehydrate you, which is ultimately why you won’t see Prime in the hands of any endurance athletes in the near future…

What is your hydration strategy during races? What products are you using and why?

Nice review. I use SOS for my hydration. They have some independent papers showing the salt helps with hydration. I use tailwind when on my long run and HM and marathon for fuel and hydration.

Those nutritional facts is the SOS not tailwind

Heard plenty of athletes talk about tailwind and SOS, again use what gets the job done but also then flavor/consistency preferences are key. Stick to what works but also what you prefer to take is always going to be a largely winning strategy.

Why not just add a pinch of salt to your water? Might not control your concentrations as well, but very cheap hehe

I use hydralyte. Heaps easy. Pretty cheap. Can I just put salt in water?

Hydralyte is my go to, especially for pre and post top up of fluids or during my football season through winter where I don’t really need a lot of electrolyte replacement. Super simple solution to get something back in and proven to be effective.
Technically you could just drink salt water but I doubt the taste would be very good haha!
