    Awesome reviews! I have a question for you since you have done so much with the S1. I purchased the S1 and have been diving into it and am having issues getting the dark detailed engravings. Any recommendations on settings? I am doing detailed but not extremely detailed images for wooden coasters. They seem to come out very detailed with depth engravings, but not keeping the dark burn shade. They come out patina brown and faded… any recommendations on power and speed settings.

    Hi there Sky, I was deliberating on our conversions about the S1, when Longer reached out and are sending me a Longer 20watt plus cone, air assist, and enclosure to test and make projects on my model railway channel, Sandling Junction. So waiting for that to turn up and see how we get on. Best wishes Paul Apps

      Yes, it’s a great laser. Above average engraving and really good for cutting. I wish they had honeycomb grid as the slots are causing some markings on the back when cutting. The machine handles smoke good but not nearly as good as S1 from Xtool. Xtool is almost zero smoke in shop

    Ms Skylar, have you ever tried engraving a rubber stamp with your diode lasers? I've been told that they cannot engrave a quality stamp, compared to CO2 lasers. Is it true?

      @@woodworkingwithSkyler After various tests I managed to make very small quality rubber stamps, using Lightburn's ramp function. XCS, by not having this, tends to burn the small details, making them super thin and unstable.

      Hmm.... Xtool did send me the riser base but didnt have time to instal it yet. When I do I will make sure to film it and show the max hight. Without the riser base ypu can go very thick. For example if I want to engrave on 1 in material I have to remove the honeycomb grid.

    Hi Skyler, I bought a Flacon 20 laser after seeing your revue. After two months I am still having issues with connecting with a Mac. Customer service seems a little slow to return E-mails and the advice is "caned". Have connected with a borrowed P.C. computer, but they do not seem to understand the Mac. Maybe we will meet and Rockler some day and you can tell me what you did to connect.

    • @woodworkingwithSkyler
      @woodworkingwithSkyler  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Hi Pete. Interesting you say that because when I first got my laser I couldn’t connect it either. I tried many times unsuccessfully. Also a Mac user. My computer does not have a USB port, only USB-C ports. I was using the tiny plastic USB to USB-C that came with the machine to connect it to my computer, but it was not working. Then I went to the Apple Store and I bought Apple USB to USB-C tiny cable, and once I plugged that one in everything worked as it should. I don’t know if that was just a coincidence but for me, that’s what it did the trick, and then once it was connected, I’ve never had a problem before a state connected and reconnected every time I used it.

      Recently purchased a Falcon2 Pro 40w. It came with the 40w/22w and a 1.6 watt laser. With a Windows PC and two Mac laptops kept getting a power surge error and disabled USB port when connecting to the PC and disabled USB ports when connecting to the two Mac laptops with USB-C ports. So it would not connect to any computer I have. Although using the SD card it worked. And I tested with new USB-A to USB-C cables, 5 cables in all from Amazon. Also didn't work with the cable that came with it. After going back and forth via email with Creality support for 5 days they finally issued me an RMA and paid for returning it to the warehouse in California. After they receive it they will send a replacement unit. I would send a email during my day and they would respond at night I suspect China time. I had to basically fight with the person showing it is not working with three computers. They don't do phone support for this product or any other method, only email. Awful support method for this product. They should be getting the returned Falcon on 4/8.

      they were one of the first companies (if not actually the first) in the diode laser business. their 20w laser master 3 is comparable to the xtool d1 pro, but the spot size is 0.08mm x 0.08mm which is a bit smaller than the d1 pro which is 0.08x0.1. it´s moving a lot faster and cheaper still. they´re not so heavily invested in marketing i guess so i´m not really surprise you havent heard of them. The xtool S1 has a smaller dot but is nothing more than a marketing stunt if you ask me, just build an enclosure. it´s double the price for some plastic. but whatever, im far from an expert@@woodworkingwithSkyler

    I like your channel and have watched several of your videos, but why do you have to wear low cut v-neck shirts. Is this the way you think it will attract more subscribers? I can't tell if your proportions are natural or not, but you seem make sure your chest is in every part of your video. I am a 100% straight male and enjoy the female figure, but you seem to flaunt yourself by your choice of shirts. You present your opinions and videos very well, but it is so distracting I'm not sure I want to subscribe. I'm sure this comment will be deleted, but I thought you should know you don't have to expose yourself to get subscribers. I hope you take this as constructive criticism and not hate speech. 😊

      I have never deleted any comment on my channel and I am not going to start now. This subject has come out in the past and never responded to this comments. However you seem to come from a good place so here it is. No, I am not trying to use my tshirts as a way to gain subs. This is just the way I dress in my everyday life. This is how I hang around the house, go to grocery store, kids school etc. However I can assure you it looks 10 times worse in camera then in real life. The mic is weigh it down, different positions as you are working. I film everything by myself and I dont see the phone screen as I record as I am busy working and demonstrating things. Why not wear a turtleneck then? Because that is not me and I am not going to change the way I dress because it will make some uncomfortable. I come from Europe where women walk toples on the beach and is not a big deal. Its just an other part of your body like your elbows or knees. My husband, kids and family are watching my videos and they are not bothered by it so I dont think you should get insulted by it. However if you dont wish to subscribe or watch my videos that is totally ok and I respect that. You do what you are comfortable with.
      Whish you best and thank you for taking the time to write a comment.

      Immature comment. Her content is obviously thoughtful and insightful. Based on experience and testing, which that alone should tell you that she uses her brain to gain subscribers, and nothing more. What she wears should have zero influence over someone's decision to take her content seriously. It's obvious that she is a skilled craftsperson and reviewer. Judging someone based on clothes choice only serves to out your own insecurities.
