    If you leave the heater running over night (as I do with mine) the air duct can get very very hot. I made a small baffle of sorts out of a length of PVC pipe with gutter down pipe connector at either end to centre the duct through your PVC pipe. This helps act as a barrier between your extremely hot duct and your flammable tent material. A CO2 alarm from Bunnings will also give you peace of mind.

    People should understand how a heat exchanger works. By leaving the heat intake open to the outside world, you "could" be drawing Exhaust gasses into the tent. If you piped the air intake into the tent, it would be safer. 2 hoses are for burning, (the small ones) 2 are for heat. ( The large ones) The 2 should never meet. Good review though.

    I got mine from ebay for $130. They are a great unit but the pump is very noisy - fan as expected is noisy. The instructions are crap and no where does it tell you which is the burner inlet and outlet so can be connected the wrong way around. You need to have the actual intake for the heater side in the tent to improve efficiency so it does not have to heat cold outside air but on that model you have to get extras for that - the way you had the heater setup you could suck carbon monoxide from the exhaust into the tent. There are extensions available for $20 which combined with the secondary intake in the tent will make it safer.
    A great unit but precautions are needed to not gas yourself in the tent.

    Hi
    I bought a similar diesel heater, Thermomate brand, i attached a cig lighter plug on the leads and unfortunately it didnt work when I plugged it on my vehicle cig lighter socket . The tech support said it only works when connected directly in to the vehicle’s battery. Any thoughts? I want to power this unit with portable lithium power pack. Thanks.

      Cut the end off the cig and crimp terminals.

      A lot of car cig lighter sockets don't have power unless the ignition or accessories are on.

    How long does a tank of diesel.last ? And how many lts is the tank ?

      @MaXpeedingRods Před 3 lety +3

      Hi, the use time cannot be confirmed uniformly, which is related to the use frequency and the adjusted power. The fuel tank is 5L, and the diesel heater fuel consumption(L/h) is 0.14-0.64L/H.

    My tent was puffed out like a marshmallow! Yours has wrinkles in it!

      Hi Frank, I'd definitely recommend keeping a window or vent open to allow the air to pass through - we had both roof vents open during use. Regarding the wrinkles, I think that's because our tent is extremely old. 😂

    Hi there
    I’ve watched a lot of videos on this product, and other versions!! No body has mentioned how loud it is? You obviously had it just outside the tent and it did seem quiet. Did you install the muffler? I couldn’t see it!
    Many thanks

      @explorebound  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Hayeso, this model didn't come with a muffler but we found it very quiet after the initial startup (about 2-3 minutes). You could easily sleep with it close by, quite similar to a small electric fan with a slight ticking noise of the fuel pump. 🙂

    Great video again! Did the outlet get hot at all? Worried about melting the tent

    • @explorebound
      @explorebound  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Kent! We ran the unit for half an hour and found the outlet hose didn't get too hot at all (certainly warm to touch but not hot enough to cause problems). I can't say for sure how it would go after extended periods longer than half an hour, but I suspect it would be fine. 🙂

    That’s funny if you click the link they are $253 if you look on Amazon they are 113

    • @explorebound

      Hi mate, back when this was originally shared the pricing was a bit different, they were 190 via the link and 180 on Amazon, using the 15% off code then bought it down to a cheaper price than Amazon. Looking now it seems they've significantly bumped the price up which is a shame! Also just wanted to point out that it looks like you're based in the US so you're comparing US Amazon pricing with AU pricing on the link, stil works out cheaper through amazon after converting USD to AUD but just wanted to point that out. :)
