You can not choke on these kinder egg capsules unless you have a gigantic mouth. They´re huge! I am from germany and grew up with these things. For kids they are everywhere, included in most birthdays, christmas gifts, every occasion to give a little something basically. They toys are even traded as collectibles. I personally though have never ever met anybody who had ever choked on the toy box indide. You would literally have to put physical effort into swallowing the yellow part, even as an adult. It probably happens, as numbers show, but you have no idea, how many of these things are sold every year all over europe and tons of other places, i guess. 😂 The miniature inside the capsule is a whole other thing though. I can totally see a toddler/young kid choking on those. But that's just one of the risks that come with having a kid. You gotta make sure your kids are safe and old enough to not automatically put everything in their mouth in order to have them.

I have to believe the kids that have died from them choked on the toy, not the capsule. so that would happen no matter what the configuration is. they would have also choked on the US ones.
Here in Australia kinder eggs are super common, we even have our own 'rippoff' product called the Yowie that was a big through the 90's and into the early 2000's, then disappeared, they contained animal figurines. they came back a few years ago, but slightly changed, now the chocolate is in 2 halves that are not attached and sit 'around' the capsule, I am pretty sure this is to allow it to be sold in places like the US.

It certainly didn't happen while eating the surprise eggs that children choked on surprise egg toys. It is more likely to happen while they are playing with the small parts or trying to put them together when they do not know how to handle them yet. • @MichaelEricMenk
      @MichaelEricMenk Před rokem +3

In Norway, pedestrian can walk and cross all roads unless specifically signed as not allowed (like Motorway)
A vehicle must stop for a pedestrian waiting to cross a marked crossing, but a pedestrian can cross everywhere as long as they do not create dangerous situations...

Indeed, with the exception of a Motorway, all roads are entitled to be used by all road users. Cars, trucks, lorries, motorcycles, bikes, horses, horse-drawn or other animal drawn vehicles and pedestrians. The Highway Code is the code of laws that govern how this traffic interacts. The essential rule is that all have aright to the public road and all are road users, conducting yourself in a way that endangers or is discourteous to other road users is a road traffic offence.
So yes, you can drive your car at 60mph on a 60mph speed limit road, but if you come round a blind corner and hit a horse and rider, or a pedestrian, it's your fault.

In Germany, if something is less than 1-2km to go to, we walk. Probably not even take a bike. Although, there are bike lanes nearly everywhere, at least in towns and cities. My grandma walked around 10km every day until over the age of 80.
Now, talking about jaywalking, Americans are often surprised how serious Germans take the issue of jaywalking. The thing is, that we teach our children VERY early how to safely cross a street and ride a bike. We let children go to school on their own VERY early, because it makes them confident. I rode the bike to elementary school, 3km away, every day, including 2 quite dangerous crossings where accidents are not rare, when I was a kid. No parents involved. Totally common.
So, if Americans start jaywalking with a traffic light and regular crossing in sight, or if they cross at the traffic light being red, german people WILL say something, maybe even yell at you. Germans like to follow rules as soon as they see the reason behind them. "Nur bei grün, der Kinder wegen!" (At green light only, because of the kids!) was a slogan to make people aware to be a good role model, and it worked very well. No joke, even if there is no car in sight at all, I most probably will wait for the green light at every crossing, even if it takes a minute or two more, automatically. Maybe not at night (children should be in bed, right ;-).

Getting a standard driver's licence for a standard personal vehicle (max 7700lbs and 8 seats) in Norway will cost you at least $2000 assuming you pass each of the theoretical and practical courses and final exam/test on the first try. It's a thorough and expensive process to get a licence so that people take it seriously and make the necessary effort to learn the responsibilities of operating a heavy and dangerous machine in traffic where there's other people. I believe the process is similar in many other European countries although prices may differ.

    • @bastiwen
      @bastiwen Před rokem

Yep, as you said it's similar in other European countries. In Switzerland for exemple it's also around $2000 and takes some time because you must do a eye exam, do a first aid class, pass the theoretical exam, take a class about safety and risks, drive with a driving instructor until he says you are ready (which can vary a lot from person to person, some takes 5 lessons, some 20, the average is at around 12-13 iirc) and then take your practical exam. If you do all of that, you have a set amount of time to go do a course where you takes your car and learn to drive in certain conditions like very slippery roads for exemple, this exists so that you can practice driving during snowstorm for exemple without really being in one, it also teaches you the limits of your car in real conditions and they show you that emergency breaking at 50km/h takes a certain amount of time and distance. After your practical exam you are considered a "student driver" for 3 years and you have some additional rules like a zero tolerance to alcohol instead of 0.5 per thousand where you are not a student driver. After those three years if you have done everything and you haven't had an accident or broken the rules you get your definitive licence.

Lawn darts, guns, matches, knives and a lot of other things that can cause serious harm to children are the responsibility of the parents. If a parent can leave small children play all by themselves with sharp darts or can let toddlers have small objects as toys, probably parents should know how irresponsible they are (and stupid, I might add). I recall having a baby with my wife and I always was thinking ahead to try and understand what can happen to a toddler who might want to climb every fence, who might try to fetch everything to their mouth and I was thinking ahead of what do I need to do if MY child gets to choke on something and can't breathe, how can I help MY child?.

It goes like this: On the 6 of january, families celebrate the coming of the 3 kings to baby jesus (It is actually a more important celebration than christmas, kids recieve toys this day , at least here in Spain) One of the traditional things to do is eating the "Roscón de reyes" as dessert, which is a pastry , traditionally filled with a sweet pumpkin cream, called "cabello de ángel"("Angel hair") and with caramelized fruit on top, like cherries and orange slices. Inside that pastry, the bakery will place 2 items, a baby jesus and a bean. The person who gets the baby jesus gets to wear a crown(a paper one which usually is included with the purchase of the pastry itself) and is said to have good luck. The person who gets the bean is supposed to pay for the "roscón the reyes".

I hate the taste of Kinder Joy chocolate and just love the surprise one... and I'm soooo happy that they finally stopped trying to mainly sell those in Germany (they did that for like 2-3 years and you sometimes had to be lucky to get the surprise one? But now I can get them everywhere again...without problem)
    Edit:
And the yellow thing is so big I don't know how ANYONE could choke on that. And you have to open THAT( which... you really can't with just biting) to get to the toy... Granted ... the toy inside is small and sometimes you even have to assemble it yourself... but that's the same with... I don't know barbie shoes? Lego?

The police officers discovered $6,000 in the bottom of the wardrobe, then phoned a colleague to discuss how they were going to split it between them, having stolen it. All on video and sound. I'm not sure why the graph about cheese shows Cheddar as American and other cheeses as their country of origin, Cheddar Cheese is from England, first made in the town of Cheddar, Somerset, England in 1170. So Cheddar Cheese is actually 852 years old. Cheddar Cheese made in the town of Cheddar is aged in caves as its the perfect temperature and humidity to mature the cheese.
Another fact is England is the cheese capital of the world with over 700 registered cheeses, over 100 more than France. Although both countries have way more unregistered cheeses taking it into the thousands. England has equally as good cheese as France, don't forget France is only 23 miles from England so the weather is very similar and that produces lush grass to feed the livestock which helps make the best cheeses from the milk. Although France has some really good cheese and is well known for them England has equally, if not better cheeses in my opinion, Cheddar, Stilton, Double Gloucester, Red Leicester, Wendslydale, Stinking Bishop are among the best cheeses in the world.
American "cheddar" is not real Cheddar, you need to come to England to taste what real Cheddar tastes like.

In Serbia the law says that a car has to stop on every crosswalk and let pedestrians cross the street every time and anywhere (thats for crossing without
traffic lights), even tho thats not the case in real life.
Also there is a law that says that only time pedestrian can cross the road outside the crosswalk is if the distance between two crosswalks is more than 100 meters (around 100 yards). And only if there is no cars on the road at the time of crossing.
With that being said i dont remember i ever heard of someone geting a ticket for crossing the street outside of crosswalk (ticket is 5.000 rsd which is around 50$). But if you walk across crossing while there is a red light for pedestrians you are probably gonna get a ticket.

    i am from the netherlands.
the gist of the rules is.
you are not allowed to walk on highways (unless the situation calls for it)
there is no jaywalking but on busy streets they do have crosswalks to ensure more safety for pedestrians.
these crosswalks often prioritize access for pedestrians and / or bicycles.
more busy roads often also have a patch of land between the sides that can be used as a safe spot for crossing.
inner city roundabouts prioritize bikes and often pedestrians too (not always but it is clearly visible when they are or are not)
roundabouts that prioritize cars have traffic lights for bikes and pedestrians.
and then there are special residential areas we call woonerf where any participant of traffic is equal.. therefor a car has to give right of way from a pedestrian coming from the right.
speeds are also very low there.
there is a lot more to it but these are sort of a compacted and not always precise explanation

First off, we have kinder eggs. And it's no problem whatsoever. I did not hear of a single kid choking on it. I mean, it's up to parents to watch kids. Kids are kids, they always try to put small toys up their nose or in their mouth, like Legos.
We love cheese. But not to that extent, where there are fly larvae 🤮 Tho there are plenty other cheese. It depends on taste. Still remember from childhood, when my dad both blue cheese, I think? The smell was like dirty unwashed socks, I almost threw up. But my dad ate it with pleasure. I guess it's just like wine, you have to grow up to appreciate such things :)
Don't remember any long darts. Thats not a thing here. We have only small ones, that you throw to a target, that hangs on a wall. The more serious ones, you can only buy as an adult and in sport shops. Parents don't allow kids to use them, or if they do, only with supervision.
And street crossing... By the law, you can only do that on road crossings and only when there is green light. Those that do that can get a fine if not killed. If there is an accident, the one that crossed a street in non-designated areas are responsible for that accident happening.
The different flavored cigarettes are banned. Also, to electronic cigarettes as well. But people and businesses find a way around those laws.

@@IceWolf75 Fair point, I looked into this and: The domestic market in Britain may be struggling, but it is doing so from a strong base. Fourteen different makers based in the West Country are licensed to use the EU Protected Designation of Origin "West Country Farmhouse Cheddar". It has to be made on a farm in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, or Somerset, the British Cheese Board says, and from locally produced milk and using traditional cheddar-making techniques.
Other, bigger dairies across Britain also produce cheddar, of course. Many supermarkets have realised there is added value in telling customers which creamery or farm any particular cheddar was made in. That's why packaging increasingly boasts of names such as Taw Valley, Aspatria and Davidstow. Popular brands, meanwhile, include Seriously Strong, Pilgrims Choice, and Cathedral City.
But isn't all cheddar from... Cheddar?
That view is widely held but wrong. Cheddar is, in fact, a generic name and so, unlike some cheeses produced in parts of Europe or Asia, it can be produced anywhere. It originated in Somerset around the late 12th century, from the Gorge or caves in the town of Cheddar that were used to store the cheese. The humidity and constant temperature of the caves made it ideal for maturation.
So from that stand point I am corrected. Thanks.

  • @lucienschlut
    @lucienschlut Před rokem

Let's be clear: the product started in 1974. to this day, worldwide, 10 kids have died from Kinder Surprise. It is very difficult to eat and die due to the surprise, mostly because the toy capsul is so fucking big you can't put it in your mouth befor you're 7 or 8, and at that age you already understand the principle of chocking hazard. Actualy, the kids who died ingested a small part of the toy that was withing the capsul.... That's how fucking dumb the death was, and the answer of ferrero was to almost stop "puzzle toys" ond multipart toys and mostly make small collectible plastic statues (which suck) 1 capsul, by egg.
The pasteurisation process is just about putting a product to a high enough temperature (110C for 5 minuts is generally enough, and why 110 because a liquid doesn't always heat uniformely and at exactly 100C part of the liquid might stay at 95C or bellow, not killing all bacterias). So no nothing is added, even less in europ where we try to take off all the cancerous conservating shit you put in food.
Cheese is litteraly rotten cooked milk, the yeasts that cause the process of fermentation need a temperature above 10C to work, between 20C and 30C is their optimal temp, and above 50C they mostly die. Sicne you boil the milk beforehand, all bacterias are dead, then you add the yeast and let the magic happen. You end up with a product free of harmful to human bacterium that stay in stasis as long as they are left in a clod environment, stopping any degradation of the product.
The Casu Marzu is a traditional cheese for connoisseurs and risk takers. 99% of the cheese lovers will never ever try it or even consider it. But in this day and age, you can make safe casu marzu, you just need a vacuumed fly breeding ground. Flies are dirty and full of bacteria because they feed and breed on trash and shit. put them in a surveyed environment with selected food (fruits/sugar water for food and cheese for breeding) and you get "clean flies" for restoration purpose. Same with leeches.
For the lawn darts: the death where even dumber than that. Ever watched bowling fails where the peoples hold the ball to long and throw it through a screen? well kids (and adults) have had accidents throwing the dart straight up above their heads releasing the dart to late. the dart go up, then back to sender.
There where also cases where idiots went to retrieve their darts while other players where still shooting. Think shooting range accident with an idiot running in the shooting galery to take his target back... Tehre where many accidents but only a few death.
No, Jaywalking is NOT permitted in most european countries. We do it none the less, that's why 2 or 3 countries took the laws off.

Pasteurisation changes the taste of foods for the worse. The milk in Europe almost always pasteurised except in UK as long as the farmers herd is inspected / tested unpasteurised is available. FYI pasteurisation was bought in to the UK because of TB which can be passed on from milk. Since then more people have been effected from pastured milk than unpasteurised, warm milk is a rich soup for germ unless it is high temperature enough to kill the germs. Oh and don’t forget your eggs are aggressively washed to such an extent it scrubs off the natural anti bacterial barrier of the outside of the eggs to such an extent that you have to keep them in the fridge to stop them sucking in germs. In the uk we don’t do this so our eggs are kept on the shelves in shop because there is no need to refrigerate them. This is another DDdddeeeeerrrrrr!!!! Moment don’t you think. .???

Often the automobile industry bought them themselves and dissolved them. That's why you have more parking space in the US than spaces where people live and no reliable public transportation in any (are there exceptions? maybe NY?) major city, not starting to talk about connections inbetween. The newer cities as you head west and south dont as they were built primarily with the car in mind. However saying that, even these older north east cities almost possibly barring New York now have a severely diminished public transport system. Even New Yorks Subway has been massively underfunded for decades and the system is literally just scraping by with more and more problems due to old infrastructure and barely maintaining them. Kinder eggs are not banned because they are dangerous, it is impossible to swallow the yellow capsule by mistake.
But the law is the law, it is forbidden to have something not eatable inside something eatable.
It is to avoid accident if the not eatable thing is small, but the yellow capsule isn't small. They refuse to do an exception to the law to avoid more exception's demand.

I live in a country where we eat cheese made yesterday. Everybody who can afford it and and everybody who can buy it is eating super-fresh cheese. If it's before yesterday, it doesn't taste as good as the one made yesterday (or better, a cheese made today)
I might have Salmonella in me, or E. coli or listeria but I don't know about it. In 53 years old I had a lot of digestive troubles in my life. Never stopped eating fresh cheese and I'm not going to stop now.
Eating maggots looks disgusting but, when I was a kid, one of my neighbors had a huge cherry tree and was letting us kids climb and eat as many sweet cherries we were able to. Probably half of them had maggots but we really, honestly, didn't care and I mean all of us ate those cherries as if it was the last cherry tree left on Earth.
That cheese looks funny to me but I'm sure it doesn't look funny to the people who are used to it.

Probably the best voting system in the world is the Australian model.
    1) Voting is held on a day determined by the current Government within a time frame of a few months. It must be held on a Saturday so that people can get to vote. Any intimidation at voting centres is a criminal offense.
On the day, charities sell home made goods for local charities at the designated polling booths, mostly school. The most popular is the Election Sausage: A slice of bread stacked with fried onions and the Aussie equivalent of a hot dog covered in sauce of choice. They are very popular.
    2) Registration on the day is compulsory for all Australian citizens, with very few exemptions. 18 and over is the voting age. Though the claim is that voting is compulsory, it is actually registering that is compulsory ... no one can know if you voted or not.
    3) Australia has a preferential voting system, where as the US an many other nations have a 'first past the post' system.: The voting card has all candidates listed for that electorate and the voter puts their preference for who they want first, through to who they want last. At the local tally room, as the votes are counted, the least likely gets eliminated and their preferences goes to the voter's next choice.
    4) The entire electoral system is controlled by an independent Federal Electoral Council and are locked into being by laws that prevent political interference.
The area that we have to change, as does the world, is controlling the media or Fourth Estate. A set of universal laws, best presented by the UN, would ensure that truth not lies were the basis of news at election times.

German here. In Germany jaywalking (crossing the street at red light, crossing the street anywhere else where is no traffic light is NOT illegal) is illegal, too. But: it costs only a fine of 5€ because normaly you bring yourself in danger and not other persons. It is illegal because it has to be - what do I mean with that: if it is not illegal, than obviously you didn't done something wrong - and if you didn't done something wrong in case of an accident, both partys (e.g. car driver and pedestrian) were guilty. And then the car driver also has a responsability for the accident. And this would be unfair. So in the end it's just illegal to show: the pedestrian did something wrong. It's a matter of liability.

The thing about jaywalking not being a crime here doesn't mean people can cross streets whenever they want and cars have to let them cross. When there are cars on a road, you can cross only on zebras or green traffic lights. If you cross somewhere else it's not illegal but if you are hit, you are the guilty one, not the driver. But if there are no cars, or you see a car in the distance, or cars are slow, you can cross and you will be fine. So as long as you make sure you can safely cross the street, you can do it wherever you want and won't get a ticket. That's the idea. And those giants darts?? Wtf, I have never heard of them before, and I live in Europe :))

Jaywalking in Germany pretty much doesn't exist. And I'm not talking about the fact that germans just don't jaywalk (at least not in front of witnesses), there is just no law regulation regarding jaywalking. We do have laws regarding traffic lights and crosswalk(e.g. crossing the street at a red light, 5 bucks fine). And of course, IF you cause an accident because of jaywalking, it will be taken into consideration negatively, as long as there is a crosswalk or traffic light nearby. If there is neither nearby, you can cross a street whenever, wherever, as long as you make sure there are no cars or bikes in sight.

In France, if you are a pedestrian, in a road accident, because you wanted to cross the road, you may be in the wrong if you did not use a passage dedicated to it, and said passage is located less than 50 meter (160~feet rounded down) to where the accident happened. If there is no such passage, the driver is always in the wrong.
It is, in a way similar to a gun, a car can kill and could be considered a weapon, and so, it is the responsibility of the driver to be careful with how he use it.
After all, I said "may be", there can be plenty of reason as to why the driver would be responsible, despite the pedestrian ignoring common sense, It usually come down to who didn't pay attention for "x" reason. (like no looking left and right to make sure it is safe, for the pedestrian, or looking at a text message for the driver etc...)

There are so many thing that are small enough for a adult or child to choke on be we can't ban all of it. It is just stupid. My sister almost choked on a hard candy, my neighbour'kid almost choked on plastic bottle cap,...
