Do you like going to large shopping malls? Or are they a thing of the past. In Moscow, they are gradually starting to build smaller more regional medium sized malls like this one.

In the introduction below the video, Russell asked the question "how have sanctions affected Russian retail market". I am not sure about the exact impact, but I observed that all the stores shown in this video are well stocked, a reflection of the limited impact of Western sanctions on Russian people's lives. Talking about impact of sanctions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecast that the Russian economy will grow 3.2%, versus the 2.7% growth forecast for the U.S. economy.

By UK standards this shopping centre would be considered "luxury" mall and you'd only find such facilities in big cities in the UK. The retail industry in the UK is going though apocalyptic times at the moment, shops big and small are shutting down and UK's so called "high street" now looks more like "horror film" street with graffiti everywhere, boarded up shops and garbage flying around. Even very big iconic stores are going bust. And once considered well-to-do chains such as WH Smith and M&S are shutting down many of their stores. Not to mention complete collapse of many chains such as Body Shop and many others. For anyone in retail to see such stunning sparkling luxury malls opening such as these suburban Russian shopping towns looks like science fiction. Meantime, all UK mainstream media paints their traditional fake picture of Russia trying to convince disinterested audience that life in Russia is so bad that UK's own collapse and decline should be eaten as "big luck". LOL

I feel like London is now turning into one of those Hollywood horror films with zombies everywhere and militarised police using excessive brutality and violence against hungry citizens. Many products in UK supermarkets as cheap as £1 candy bar are now locked into plastic cages with alarm and massive lock on them. Going shopping in London is like "prison escape" episode with shops looking like concentration camps and people on the street more like dangerous zombies, trying to break into stores or eat you alive if you not careful.

You can never get a hot soup in the cafe. No such thing here as hot sushi or baked rolls. You can never find 90% of foreign brands like you showed in your videos as UK tries to only feed its nation British own products which are very scarce in choice and bad tasting. Small grocerie stores will not have a coffee/lunch places, but some of them will have a coffee machine, where you can buy a cup of coffee to go and some of the small grocery stores will have a microwave too, where you can heat your food and take it with you.
Bigger grocery stores like for example supermarkets, will usually have a cafe inside of the store.

Very good video Russell, educational for me. Thank you and thumbs up.
My favourite pizza is a spicy calabrase (has hot peppers, calabrase salami, black olives, cheese) made at a local supermarket where you can have it made and eat in their seating area/cafe or take home. Very yummy and more expensive than the one in your supermarket. There are signs in the eating are that one cannot consume alcohol the store bought alcohol (beer). So, I bring my own (just kidding 😉)

You know what ? The more sanctions obligated to Russia - more countries like China, India, and a lot "neighbors" have their own benefits :) And of course, EU suffering more than others.

To be fair a lot of UK supermarkets have cafes in them.
Our local Morrisons in Peterborough has a good one but why would I want to sit in that cafe when I live just around the corner ?
The thing that amazes me mostly is the incredibly low prices.
Take Eggs for example. Sainsburys (about the same distance as Morrisons from me but in the other direction) is selling 10 mixed egg packs for a LOW price of £1.15p.
That's probably double of the cost of the Russian 10 pack !

You mean sales taxes. This is the case in many countries.
      > taxes are already indicated in the price and when you are told your salary,
Yes, when you scale the Russian prices you should take the net income (after taxes).
But my point was about what you called "the incredibly low prices". They are incredibly low with respect to a Western income ONLY.

Hello Russell from Moscow 🙂.Great video👍. I think it's not worth counting on the fact that pizza in such supermarkets will be outstanding. A professional pizzeria such as До-До pizza is certainly tastier. But the fact that you can have a snack is cool 🙂👍.

Я удивлён как они выживают сдесь, на Черноморском побережье, среди реально вкусных пиццерия.

to be honest, I am not sure I will return to left brands if they come back to Russia one day. The only thing I am really missing is Uniqlo, the rest were completely organically substituted with new ones. And IKEA - the place you can eat Swedish meatballs and buy many useless stuffs

yes 🙂 I've been living there for about 10 years, in 5 minutes from that building, there's a riding school, so I often used to see young girls on horses riding here & there.

This is not Moscow Region, administratively this is Moscow, the territory called New Moscow, or more precisely Troitsk and New Moscow District. Check a map! ) It was added to Moscow 10 years ago. There going to be a metro in 4 years! Intensively developing area not so far away from Old Moscow, less than 15 minuted by car from the nearest metro station.
