    i have a theory that in the end of the episode, thats when Tony started loosing faith in paulie a bit more. He gives him a choice. If he wants to go back to look for the russian that means he is on Tonys side and wants him to be safe, because Slava will kill Tony if he comes back. But Pauly says no, indicating he doesnt care that much if it happens, he cares more about himself. Thats why Tony makes it clear that if they get any heat from this, he will throw pauly under the bus and offer him up to Slava. I dont know if anyone else got this from their interaction in the car but i really felt that conversation to be heavy. Anyway, good job Kino and thank you for the episode review.

    • @empac8631
      @empac8631 Před 2 lety +9

      I always took it more like Tony has a suspicion that Paulie is lying about for sure knowing the Russain’s dead and is trying to give him an out to tell the truth. He’s basically saying “hey if there’s a chance this guy lived, we need to deal with this” and Paulie, tired, cold, hungry and embarrassed decides to lie and say no, as in there’s no point, they’re sure he couldn’t survive. Paulie’s almost swallowing the dread because they aren’t sure and Tony is telling him he’ll be the one to suffer. Also says a lot that despite all of Christopher’s downfalls, Tony knows immediately who started the conflict and why it escalated the way it did. Chris may be impulsive and violent, but rarely unprovoked and always to people he knows won’t be a threat. Chris has more of a way of collecting, making a snide comment at most but usually shootin’ the shit with people. Paulie almost looks for trouble and Tony knows it.

The guy is a friggin PROFESSIONAL killer, he's bigger/stronger than Christopher and Paulie put together, and they'd been making him dig his own grave. He's also holding a great murder weapon. Pine Barrens is arguably the funniest episode of any series ever. I laughed so much it hurt. Anyone who’s suffered through similar conditions (and I have), knows that a freezing night in spring wear will turn a ketchup packet into a gourmet meal and automotive carpet into a Canada Goose parka. I've been waiting for your breakdown of probably the best episode of television ever recorded. It was worth it.
    This episode really placed the basis of paulie and chris' relationship going forward. They have to work together after this but theres always a sense of disrespect between them up until chris dies. It wasn't just the best episode, it ignited a story arc that fueled some of the best moments.
    Also: Grey goose is pandered as premium vodka but everyone knows vodka is all the same bullshit. Its all the same piss with different labels.

  • @ClownTrader1
    @ClownTrader1 Před 3 lety +1

    Grey Goose was very popular when it came out and back then all these new liquors were being HEAVILY and aggressively marketed. It would not surprise me one bit if the only reason Grey Goose was used was strictly because they paid ALOT of money to be featured on the show, and they placed it here because "Russians drink vodka". Thats it, forgetabaht it. Gabagool.

    Observations:
    1- Tony has so many hos that his ho caught him cheating with another ho.
    2- Most of the murders on the show are less about strategy and more about the mobsters getting pissed and letting emotions run wild combined with they know how to murder.
    3- I wonder how that van ended up in the woods.
    4- No such thing as no strings sex. Sooner or later your side piece will throw a prime rib at you.
    5- the Russian guy should return in a sequel
