To be clear, This was the last PLANNED flight, which means it could fly for SAS a few times more. The aircraft is set as a standby aircraft in two weeks until it leaves for good.

Thank you so much for a wonderful -87 vid. I haven't flown on one since 2000, and I miss them (along with DC-9s and their bigger MD-82/83 cousins) a lot.
Over the years I've flown on almost every version of the DC-9 and MD-80, more than any other aircraft. There was no better sound than a standing takeoff on a short field where the pilot would really let the JT8D's scream before releasing the brakes.

It's very sad to see them go... The DC-9 variants have been a part of my travelling life since early 1968, and I've ridden on them countless trouble free times on Delta, Eastern, North Central, TWA, New York Air, Continental, Aero Trasporti Italiani, Alitalia, Aermediterranea, Iberia, AVIACO, Austral, Aerolineas Argentinas, USAir, Muse Air, Republic, Northwest, Ozark, American, and a few others. They were built to last and were quite a workhorse for all of their lives with the airlines.

I probably worked on that aircraft when it was brand new as I was employed by McDonnell Douglas as an aircraft mechanic and I had the privilege of working on every series of the MD-80 aircraft I also worked on the MD 90s MD-11’s& 717 and of all those listed the MD80s were my favorite That aircraft might be flying for Erickson as a flying firebomber

I would so buy one of these to have as my own jet. I love the MD80 series plane....I'd go John Travolta, his Qantas 707 vs my American MD-80.

Thanks. I will be flying in to Calgary (i hope to do some spotting there, but im not sure) And will later fly home from Vancouver via Montreal.
Hopefully i will do some spotting at Vancouver.
Inside it doesent look that old.. Anyway... very nice video! Its sad that it was it last flight in Europe.. I dont like flying it, but its still very sad!

Of all the MD-80 variants, I think the MD-87 is my favorite. I don’t know what it is, but I like the shorter fuselage with the bigger -219 series of the JT8D.

A very nice video and a very nice plane! Hoped to fly with Kulula with the same type, but they retired them some time ago and I will fly with a 737-400 or 737-800 :/

Yeah i know! The MD-80 i flew down with looked a lot more worn out and old. This one almost looked new compared to that one!

hey, im useing the Panasonice HDC-SD600, but there is newer versions of it, but yeah the quality is awesome! IF you are planning to buy a camcorder, buy a panasonic!

Personally i like them very much, but guess, it was far to expensive to operate them economically.
Jag hatar när SAS tar bort alla bra flygplan. T ex MD-87 (son är en av mina favoriter) och B747! Vrf i helv*** tar man bort en 747??!
