@@andkyrmar no bc it wouldn’t look good them 😆 (colors look different on different skin tones, talking about how these colors interact does not enable racism. preventing actors from auditioning for roles bc of their race does.)
Absolutely exquisite costumes, Lucy has such an exhilarating enthusiasm how I wish I could attend one of the performances 😍🤩
What I love the most is that she wasn't chosen just to be more "inclusive", she was chosen because she can actually sing. It really warms my heart to see how excited she is and I really hope to see her perform some day.
How do you know? Or is that just an opinion? The UK tour open casting literally stated “We are particularly interested in seeing BAME people.”

I hate to break it to everyone, but she wasn’t chosen just because she can sing- tho it’s undoubtedly true that she’s an amazing singer.
She was a last minute hire after so many people displayed their unhappiness with the production (and especially the orchestra) being cut down. If this didn’t happen, one of the white girls from the tour would have been cast (they’re now understudying Lucy).
What a doll! She deserves more than that tin-toy orchestra Cameron's putting together.
I agree. It needs the full 25 piece orchestra from the original production.

Why enjoy watching black actors? How does skin tone add value, especially if the roles of the characters were originally white? Sounds like positive discrimination, to me.
And there is no ‘Erik’ in the ALW musical. It’s Phantom.
@@andkyrmar It's Valuable to see more black actors because white people have been Center stage since the dawn of time and have always had it easier and have been more superior in entertainment period.

Her energy and excitement, the way she glows, the fact that she knows she's going to cry. I just love seeing someone's dreams come true. I first saw her perform for the Platinum Jubilee and I was blown away.

I really want to say thank you for inspiring me to believe you don't have to look exactly like the original character to play them because I have always loved this play and wanted to be many fair skinned character as a child even though I had dark tan skin. I am so proud that is more diversity in the world now so thank you so much you are so talented I wish you the best luck and hope to maybe see you perform someday
It’s not a ‘play’. And when diversity extents to white actors being cast into POC roles, I might agree. Otherwise it’s plain box ticking.
@@andkyrmar white people CANNOT be cast for roles meant for people of color that's white washing. It would be like casting a white woman to play Celie in The Color Purple or Dorothy in The Wiz. Also, if a character description doesn't have a certain ethnicity it can be played by anyone besides a white person
@@tarinblanding1584 I'm sorry but not sorry, exactly the same thing applies to poc being cast in to white people's roles. Christine Daae is written to be from Sweden originally. Poc shouldn't get offended when they aren't cast as native Swedish people. So a white person can't be cast as a native African, same applies the other way. It's got nothing to do with trying to upset, exclude or offend people.
I don’t want to ruin this to you, but this actress was a last minute hire.
Phans worldwide were protesting against the change of the production and cut orchestra, on top of Mackintosh’s blatant mistreatment of his employees. (He fired a veteran of 30 years in the show on the West End, who played the role of M. Reyer).
People were calling out CamMack for his behaviour and were planning to boycott the show.
What to do to make people forget about it? Political correctness. If they really wanted to make the role diverse they would have done it years ago.
If this scandal didn’t happen, or at least if the public didn’t protest, you bet that they would cast another white actress in it. Most likely the two from the tour, as they’re Lucy’s understudy RN.
So yeah, the diversity here has an ugly price. Do whatever you want with this information.
@@TheOrientalNightFish Sierra Boggess is American, not Swedish and no one complained. The point is Christine's nationality has nothing to do with her character, if it did then I would agree with you. You'll are finding every excuse in the book to not like Lucy being casted
