- George Benson came from a jazz background and honed his craft from the 60's on until he broke big with his 1976 LP "Breezin'" that went triple platinum that same year. His fusion of jazz with a variety of genres like R&B, Soul and pop became his signature style, recording instrumentals until he sang "This Masquerade". He was then asked to sing "The Greatest Love Of All" for the Muhammed Ali bio-pic "The Greatest", which became a huge hit for Whitney Houston in the 80's. He began working with Quincy Jones who again tapped Rod Temperton,("Rock With You" for Michael Jackson and "Do You Love What You Feel" for Rufus) who gave him "Give Me The Night". Benson was not comfortable with his singing on his recordings, so Jones spoke to him about finding his roots and Benson replied that he was inspired by Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Donny Hathaway. Those vocal stylists gave Benson the confidence he needed and "Give Me The Night" became an across the board smash, #4 Pop, #1 R&B (for three weeks), #2 Disco/Dance and the LP was #1 Soul and Jazz, #3 Pop.

Just played the 45 at a club recently (2017) and the crowd (young people) went bananas. Talk about a timeless boogie tune.

Turned 57 myself a couple of month ago and I don't feel like time just flew past. There's enough of it to make a book that I known wouldn't catch i many people 's imagination . The trouble with having a ball is that it comes with a price. And the price tag has never stopped getting higher and higher over the years .Unless you were born wealthy, Unless you're blessed with a rare talent,or unless you spend 90 percent of your youth making yourself a decent situation you 're ain' t gonna be partying much , or having any sort of fun, that's for sure. Just like the ol' Cat Stevens used to say : it's hard to get by just upon a smile. Life is up for grabs.it's one for the brave only. The rest of us will pick up the crumbs. That 's the way it goes.

When I was fueling up my Car the other day, a Man pulled up next to me and he was blaring this song. Wow. Talk about bringing back Memories. I LOVED it then and I LOVE it still today

La buena musica no tiene idioma , y si no entonces vean los comentarios en diferentes idiomas abajo, en 1980 la primera vez que la escuche no podía parar de escucharla una y otra vez ya que la sensación de placer paz y bienestar es enorme al escuchar a GEORGE BENSON y para muestra esta pieza de lujo que tanto nos dio en la época disco. Hoy ya tengo 59 años , pero no por eso dejare de bailarla y escucharla , ya que escuchar a GEORGE BENSON es escuchar a una leyenda y su aportación al Jazz , Rithm and Blues y otros como el Funk y el soul es altisima y de muy alta calidad.
