    I never use glue. Clear spray paint/clearcoat works way better and doesn't leave a big mess. Spray it into the grip, push it on, after it dries it's rock solid.

    Not to criticize you but, contact cleaner? why not use wd-40?

    • @tootallbob
      @tootallbob Před 4 lety +6

      Because if you plan on re-using the grips you are removing, it's harder to remove the WD40 from the inside of the old grips and they won't stick to the grip glue. If you aren't using them again, just use a razor blade.

    Everyone of them forget to tell you, make sure it’s not a grip that is permanently on to the throttle, some people buy the aftermarket ones that are like that and it’s not coming off you just got to get a new throttle.

      @rmatvmc  Před měsícem

      I'm guessing you still have your stock grips? Stock grips will usually come glued on but no safety wire. When replacing them, I would recommend using safety wire. Grip glue works well, but it isn't uncommon for grips to still move without safety wire. Or just go to a lock on grip and you don't have to worry about any of that.

      Is it glued on? If it isn't, you can used compressed air to get it off but if it is, you will most likely just have to cut it off and try to scrape off as much of the rubber and glue that is left on.

    • @TysonEdits
      @TysonEdits Před 2 lety

      Yeah that's what happened to me. I'm going to assume your friend used a box cutter, that's what I used on my old bike. I did the same thing, just destroyed the throttle tube. Use the method in this video, it doesn't destroy your grips and you don't have to worry about cutting past the grip and into the throttle tube. The term is called vulcanized, its usually Kawasaki and Suzuki bike which have them.

      Super glue will probably make them very difficult to remove but it's not a bad option. There are many options of grip glue that can all work just fine. I"ve heard of people using everything from contact cement to hair spray with good results.

    Cut the old off woth a razor knife. Idk why tf you'd pry the old ones off woth a screwdriver.
    You dont need grip glue. You dont need anything fancy. Just get a little butter cookimg spray and just make a quick pass down the bar. Super light coating. Not all sides. Just ine quick stripe down each bar end and you're done.
    Slide the grip on, you're done. Ready to ride the next day. Zero grip spin.
