    Good review of the MR Ranger 300 thanks Rich. Great turn track too.
    I assisted re-jetting my mates 22 model 300 Ranger as it was running very rich from factory. With graduated testing (at sea level) we settled on 35 pilot, 135 main and standard needle second clip from top. We verified the 135 main jet with plug chop, it was spot on and not too lean. The needled was lowered one clip position to clean up the midrange. This engine runs clean now at 50:1 and has a linear power delivery with lots of bottom end torque; more torque than my 21 model Beta X Trainer 300.

    I have a mr200 ranger and my son has a 300. I absolutely love my ranger. About a 100 hours on both now. So far we did put a starter kit and clutch basket on the 300, but considering how hard it was ridden we aren't surprised. They come with 36 mil carbs on the rangers also. Big pipe and 38 mil carb makes a huge difference with high rpm.

  • @Steveman61

    Great seeing you testing the Ranger 👍 Many thanks. I use the NECx needles in all my bikes and if you compare them with oem needles, like the N1EF (used in the Rijeu MR Pro 300) you can see how much thinner the NECx' tip is, hence the small main jets. I always feel bad running the small main jets, but the the sound and my butt say it's just right 🙂

    The ranger is really a beginner bike, great for someone going from 4 to 2 stroke, having said that mate of mine has competed all over Europe on his,really beat on it,and was very impressed with its usability and reliability, and that's someone coming from orange!

    Many will try mixing less oil into their fuel to lean it out. Truth is doing that will make it richer if it does anything. Less oil will change the viscosity for lack of a better word, and let more fuel flow through the main jet.

    Very happy to see you testing the Rieju! On paper the mr300 pro is my dream machine but I have yet to get one. I have a 23 gasgas ec300 and I have put way too much time and money into dealing with all of its quirks and issues to replace it right now. Im not sold on the tpi. $1,000 on a get ecu and its better but not as good as a carb

    • @keshmo12
      @keshmo12 Před 29 dny +1

      My 23 ex300 tpi is meh too. Never has ran perfect. I got it 98% there with the idle screw mod and messing with the air screw and powervalve screw. The most amazing thing is it gets great gas mileage and uses barely any oil. I do a 3 hour hare scramble, about 65 miles, without getting gas. And I've got like 120+ hours on it with basic maintenance. Haven't even opened the engine up yet.

    • @dominocweber9763
      @dominocweber9763 Před 29 dny +1

      @@keshmo12 yeah they do good on fuel and oil consumption. I added 15% more fuel from 1/4 throttle to full throttle and it runs a lot better. I also did the idle screw. I can go about 50 miles of racing on a tank but when it was stock i had to do a top end at 35 hours. It was wayyy too lean. I have also had to upgrade the clutch to a hinson and the clutch hydraulics to brembo as it came with braktek stock. The master cylinder needed rebuilt after 50 ish hours but I could not source a rebuild kit so I just bought all new brembo.

    Right on Rich!
    Bought a 23' Ranger 300 in November and now have 60 hours on it. It's been amazing for me.... intermediate+ rider. Other than a JD Jetting kit, spark arrestor and some accessories, there hasn't been a need to spend additional money "tuning" it.
    The JD Jetting kit is the solution for the carb... although it does recommend their 162 main and 38 pilot for the slc elevation.
    Broke it down at 50 hours to check bearings, fork oil and piston. Grease could have gone to 60 hours on factory grease. Fork oil needed a change. Piston looked good with normal wear. Will change the piston around 100 hours.
    This is the bike I've tried to make all my other bikes into.

  • @hachtenduro7824
    @hachtenduro7824 Před 27 dny

    Great video as always!
    I see no reason that open cartridge forks are less good than closed cartidge, when setup is proper (KTM fails here).
    The open cartridge suffer more from basevalves that create too little backpressure in compression than closed cartridge does (cavitation effect).
    This means a stiff basevalve shim setup and more soft midvalve with proper float are key.
    Secondly closed cartridge are stiffer, as the compression system adds extra spring rate. Use one number harder springs in open cartridge and it behaves the same.
    Third important thing is to set the oil level right for enough resistance against bottoming.
    With these simple measures an open cartridge is equal in riding and much less complex, easy to maintain system.

      @Max-dj5qj an extra €2300. The Ranger suspension could tuned for a lot less. Both bikes offer an engine upgrade path with their pipes. i guess we go about carb tuning differently because i tune almost completely backwards to your process ya have goin......
    i tAke a handfull of new plugs and a range of jets with me to a open dirt road....
    make it start and run dont stress idle or mid yet .... install a new plug start it and run it to top end or close as you can , with it still wide open chop throttle pull clutch an kill it all same time coast to stop pull and read spark plug for rich/lean .... repeat making necessary changes till ya git top end dialed.....
    now start on transitiion from mid to top ( needle clip ) ....
    now do idle
    why do i do it this way? well because ya dont spend endless irritating days second guessing dyour last adjustment
    side note.... only make one adjustment at a time and write down every change along with temp and conditions of the day.... keep these notes

    Suzuki needles diameter don't work with the plugged up trails type motors. The needle diameter and relying so much on main jet doesn't work well. They need a JD or different needle trust me been there done that lol. Getting the 3/4-1 throttle on a small pipe motor with ne needles won't work well. It won't feel like expansion chamber bikes.
