- A quick video to show you how to replace the water filter in a GE Cafe Fridge (specifically the French door, dual drawer, model CVE28DP4NBW2).
Note that I have been using generic XWF filters (amzn.to/3X1ZuWz) which do not have the RFID tag embedded in the sticker label, even though the manual states you should use XWFE filters (www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Genuin...) - that said, I don't know if all instances of this model fridge can use the XWF model or not, only that at least mine does! - Věda a technologie
I am soooo thankful for your video. I did not want to break all the plastic pieces. You really helped me get through it !!! The filter is a bit of a pain in the ass to change of the first time. Keep up the good work !!!
I have a different model: Platinum glass Cafe Fridge but it takes the same filter in the same location in ten door. Your video was simple and I was able to replace it so easily. New subbie here by the way. ❤
Thank you!! Your video helped me make sure that I installed correctly!
Great video
thanks for sharing!
Thank you sir! I appreciate you !
Hi. Ice maker isn’t working so to troubleshoot I changed the filter which I’ve done a ton of times. This time confirmed filter change isn’t happening - thoughts?
Not quite sure I follow - are you saying the message for "change filter" isn't appearing on your fridge? or that you can't force it to go in the mode to tell the fridge you changed the filter? If the latter, I would *guess* that the ability to tell the fridge the filter was changed isn't an option until the fridge thinks it needs to be changed (but again, only guessing)
Im curious if this fridge filter is use based or time based?
How long does ot take for thr filter expired notification to come on... exactly 6 months or after a particular amount of use time?
ah that's a good question, though I unfortunately don't know -- the manual doesn't state it, and I can't recall when I've changed the filters in the past (I've simply just gone by the indicator lighting up). Best I can do is report back if the 'change filter' light comes back on around the beginnign of Oct (6 months from when I posted this video), ha, unless someone else finds out!
What is the difference between XWF & XWFE?
Basically one has an NFC tag and the other doesn't (at least one reason for which, I assume, is to try to prevent one from using 3rd party filters)
ANYBODY ELSES WATER FILTER DOOR KEEP OPENING WHEN SHUTTING THE DOOR?
No
Which filter did you use?
XWF amzn.to/43wvR0y -- note that I believe the filter that came with the fridge originally was a XWFE (it was definitely one that has the NFC tag built in), but apparently this model fridge works fine with the XWF (one without NFC)
@@jameshasanswers mine is exactly same model as yours. How do you know xwf the one shows work without chip?. Let me try the one you linked here!
it simply worked for my fridge - that said, not sure if it'll work for all of the same model fridge or not, but you can also carefully peel off the NFC sticker off an XWFE if it turns out you need it (I took it off my original XWFE filter incase I needed it, but I've gone through three XWFs without NFC, so I eventually threw the nfc sticker away)
FYI…It is also recommended that you discard the ice after replacing the filter.
@@BigdogLarry ah good call, yes, that should also be done, thanks!
Water tastes like a frog after changing filter. What could be going on?
@@teresahenriquez4598 you made sure to purge the filter by dumping 2 gallons/5 minutes of water?
