It honestly hurts bc I know how it is I wasn’t active for the last few weeks in Instagram and was distancing myself to not to get disappointed. Everyone is busy with their lives so I am trying to keep myself busy too

I loved birthdays when I was a kid. Now the older I get, the more depressed I get on my birthday.
I'm only 12 I'm turning 13 in two days
I feel horrible idk why. My friends (who I won't be able to see due to this pandemic) thankfully remembered but my father forgot and when I reminded him he didn't care but when he realised who upset I was he gave me 100 riyals (the equivalent of 25 American dollars). People say u should enjoy ur childhood and that being a kid is great but I'd rather pay my taxes than live in a household of people who couldn't give less of a shit.

Me too. I turn 15 on may 24th. This birthday feels different because I'm scared my friends will forget. I have never had to worry about that before. I think quarantine is the reason I'm worried, bc I haven't gotten to see any of my friends for 2 months so I feel like most of them forgot about me.

I love my dad to death and he loves me too but I don't think I care about my birthday anymore and Im just going to live the rest of my life hating it or just feeling depressed. I hate my birthday. I don't hate it to the point where I wish I was just never born, but up to the point in which I hope everyone just forgot about it. For me, it only acts as a reminder. That every so often I need to realize that I'm growing older. And With growing older comes more problems, what career I need to chose, What college I have to go to, what my graduation would look like, how im gonna learn to drive without a father figure, and how it's time to now let go of my dreams.
I just wish I didn't have to get older now knowing how difficult it really is to try to br independent.

I'm turning 47 in a couple of days and feel a sad weight in my heart because I'm not where I should be in life. But then when I say to myself "You don't have cancer today", suddenly I feel uplifted. Everything is in proper perspective. I remind myself, there are so many women who would love to trade places with me right now. 15 year Breast Cancer survivor here by the grace of God.

It was my birthday yesterday. I started with tears in my eyes and ended the same way. I've never felt so lonely in my life. I decided to go to work, hoping it'd make me less depressed if I got busy, but no. I'm still sad. I honestly feel like no one cares about my existence, and some of the people that do (only my family) live in a different country and can only wish me through the phone. It sucks.

Just one question! Is it too much to expect that your loved ones remember and wish you on your birthday? I don't want gifts, just wishing me is enough. I sometimes feel they don't care enough about me to remember my birthday. Okay some people are terrible remembering birthdays, but that's what reminders are there for. It's all about how a person matters to you to be remembered. To the people I love, just a small happy birthday is enough to make me smile.

Life is complicated and if it is important to you that your friends remember your Birthday then it is on you to make sure they are aware of how important the day is to you. I absolutely think its reasonable for OP to give them a heads up like a week in advance or so to add it to their calendar.

ah how i miss those birthdays where i would feel like the most important human on earth, like i could do anything literally, me being the happy little me. Growing up i started to realise how fooled i was by that. Its December 16th, my 15th birthday. The only people congratulating me are the ones gotten a Facebook notification, to remind them. In conclusion, you're special for one day in 365s,it's more depressing to know that during the mean time you're just a human being having no actual point in life. So instead of being happy that im being special at least for once, im depressed because i will continue being the same ghost i have been till now. The day after today will be the day everybody will forget that i even exist and move on, until 365 days later.
I used to be sad in the school days.. But now i realised that NO.. it really doesn't matter because its just a formality and now i prefer to deactivate my all social media handles and delete whtsp just to avoid fake wishes... BE HAPPY WITH TRUE WISHES OF UR FAMILY MEMBERS WHO TRULY LOVES YOU.. YOU DON'T NEED FAKE WISHES..

This video really helped me put things into perspective. It’s much easier to get caught up in the failures we see in ourselves than it is to see the accomplishments that we should be proud of. I’m not particularly fond of the fact that I’m turning 21 tomorrow, if only because it’s a milestone birthday and that I don’t feel like I’ve achieved the maturity that I think should could with that age. Therefore, not feeling like I’ll be able to celebrate. But I need to remember that there’s so much that I’ve done and so much that I am to be proud of. If I can set aside at least some time to treat myself, then that would be another accomplishment to add to the list.

Today is my birthday...and really feeling hurt and painful...as I have none in real sense to celebrate fully...still enjoying myself and waiting one day there will be someone who will care for it...

You should think of it as escaping death instead. we could all die any moment every day. You reaching your birthday is like climbing a ladder, your closer to elevation and further away from death.
