you have so many expectations for your birthday without even realizing it, you were excited about it when you were younger because you were actually celebrated and showered with gifts but as you grow you realize that it really isn’t a special day at all and people may even forget it, you try not to get your hopes up but you’re so used thinking it’s supposed to be special that you can’t really become entirely indifferent to it, and the fact that you’re even trying to convince yourself that your birthday is not special makes you think that you aren’t that special either or don’t really matter, that’s it, birthdays suck!

So when we’re walking to school together they don’t even know if it’s your birthday and I remember theirs. Today’s my 19th and just feels more lonely than ever. I’ve had some friends wish me well, but it just feels so harrowing and like they’re doing it because they’re obligated. Hope y’all are having pleasant birthdays though. No one deserves to feel empty on the day they were welcomed into the world.
On my 12th birthday…almost all my friends forgot my bday, I cried secretly because it was such a bad day, I just cut a cake and everything else about that day was the worst. The worst day for me that year. After that day I’d never want my birthday to come.
The reason I like birthdays is because I feel as though people are celebrating that I exist. When someone says “happy birthday” then I feel like they’re happy and grateful I’m here. It makes me feel loved and happy to know that people care about my existence, although I can understand where you’re coming from.

I don’t celebrate my birthday for two reasons. The one time I celebrated when I was a kid, my parents invited kids who they wanted me to be friends with - not my friends - and let’s just say they completely humiliated me and ruined it. When I was in middle school, I was backstabbed and hurt by so many people so I never told anyone when my birthday was. It’s been around 8 years and I never invited people since I celebrated because I now have trust issues and social anxiety. My mom has been trying to convince me to party again but I can’t. I don’t want to go through pain and suffering on a supposedly special day so it’s just a normal day for me.

I’m adopted too! It’s very important to know that someone loves you-and being adopted isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t know your family situation, but true love presents itself in many forms. Being adopted isn’t a gift, per say, but it was an opportunity for you to experience better things. Someone loved you enough to let you go and have a better life. You may not see it now, and that’s okay! Just take it easy.

Every birthday teaches me to keep low expectations....and it's a good teaching overall as life tends to let u down on several occasions. Don't give to much importance to this day....some people celebrate it some don't but focus on yourself and your mental health. I just come here often mostly to read the comments but never commented anything but today I am commenting coz Yes! Tomorrow is my birthday . My story is not so different from others who wrote their over here. No party, no celebrating, no going out, not even birthday wishes. And the worst part is tomorrow I am turning 18 . I saw my other classmates celebrating their birthday, doing huge parties posting on insta and other social media . I don't envy them neither do I want to have a huge party. I just wished my supposed friends would remember me, wish me at least and ask how am I doing. I think all of them forgot and don't care about my existence. Removing my birthday from fb saved me from awkward conversations. I get birthday wishes from my close friends and some family members which genuinely makes me happy. It's like a usual day for me and i don't like celebrating it. For me celebration will include having some lunch/dinner plans with my family members or close friends. Personally i don't like cakes or sweets so it was a headache during school when people prepared chocolates or cakes for my birthday when in reality I can't stand them. There are some so called friends or acquaintance who will always go for chocolates or even pastries!!!! It's annoying that it happens every year, like wishing me will be enough people don't bring all those stuff which I won't eat. I like cooking something special for my mom and brother on my birthday. It's not that i hate my birthday but certain obligations which are made by the society makes me dislike it. Like the way it should be spent, the people, the type of food and drinks, the type of emotions or reaction you are supposed to have and all it makes things exhausting. I look forward to my birthdays cause for me it's sweet when people who are really close to me will wish and sometimes i do talk to those people after a certain interval of time so yeah it's nice but hate those obligations.
I've grown to hate birthdays as I've gotten older. It is my sixteenth birthday in a few days and I'm absolutely dreading it. I am not at all satisfied with my life right now so I want no excuse to celebrate it. It's just another remind of how crappy my life is and how it's the opposite what I pictured, and not in a good way. Another fun thing to add is how I have zero control over how my birthday is celebrated and is just another opportunity for my family to stuff their face and for my parents to complain about how ungrateful I am.

The miracle day that I was born, November 4, 1989 in case you're reading this in the future and can't see the date. It is a miracle we were all born. I used to hate celebrating birthdays because of all these reasons and more. The most significant one to me being, I felt that I didn't do anything of significance to be worthy of celebrating my life. This all changed when I had kids, "oh here we go, the kid spiel" right? Okay yeah yeah, maybe so let's continue. After I had kids I was so in love with them. I was so excited for their birthdays every year because just their existence makes me so happy. Now if I start thinking that my girls shouldn't celebrate their birthday because they feel they haven't done anything significant, I would be upset they did not love themselves as much as I love them. Then I lived a year in a shelter and I started to learn to love myself. I also love learning about most sciences. So let's take in the fact that life in itself is a miracle and add us. Out of every sperm, egg, person down your ancestry line that has ever lived, you are here. How? How are any of us here living and breathing, experiencing life every day? The only way I can think is a miracle. You know my mom almost didn't marry my dad. She almost couldn't have kids because her periods stopped for a full year. Despite everything said in this and all the pessimism I used to have from my youth, I'm so happy to celebrate my birthday. I don't care if anyone else cares or remembers the day I was born because I do. I love having a day that is just special to me. And we all share this similar trait of having birthdays which should bring us together. Life is amazing and I think everyone should be able to celebrate their life on their birthdays. Today is my 16th birthday. I woke up feeling the blues. My boyfriend’s phone got taken away so we talk thru google docs with his computer laptop, but we only talked for 5 minutes bc his laptop got taken away. I went outside of my room and saw nothing. Only my mum packing sum stuff for her business. I jokingly asked her “where’s the cake?” And she told me that she’s busy and to get away from her. So I just went back to my room. I had realized that everyone forgot my birthday. There’s a corona outbreak going around so it’s really tough to have fun, though I believed that it can still be a good birthday, but no. No food, no cake, no happy birthday. I don’t really have a good relationship with my mum, but she didn’t have to go this far just because I didn’t wash the dishes last night. From now on, I’m going to have to spend it alone and not let anyone known it’s my birthday.

At some point in my life I learned that you are disposable, all of us; be selfish, take care only of yourself, and don't worry about others.

I hate my birthday because I don't like imposing my wants on others. They ask me what I want to do and then I stress that I'll end up dragging them around doing things they don't want to do. They'll want to take me to the strip club and bars but I hate going to both, and then I'll have to accept gifts but I'll feel bad about the inconvenience of them having to buy me a gift. If you're wondering how I know, my birthday is in three days and they have been hinting at a lap dance and possibly a tattoo, things I don't want. So needless to say this is becoming an incredibly stressful time for me.

All of my friends forgot my birthday only like one friend of mine who I am not even really close to. I am also not celebrating it, no one in my family really does. At the same time this sounds good to me but there is basically no space for my other dreams. Ageing is to me a horrifying thing to me. Maybe its just because I have the wrong attitude. Maybe its because I am persuading that to myself. But the fact that my birthday is the worst day in the year will probably never change.

I don’t celebrate my birthday for two reasons. The one time I celebrated when I was a kid, my parents invited kids who they wanted me to be friends with - not my friends - and let’s just say they completely humiliated me and ruined it. When I was in middle school, I was backstabbed and hurt by so many people so I never told anyone when my birthday was. It’s been around 8 years and I never invited people since I celebrated because I now have trust issues and social anxiety. My mom has been trying to convince me to party again but I can’t. I don’t want to go through pain and suffering on a supposedly special day so it’s just a normal day for me.

Removing my birthday from fb saved me from awkward conversations. I get birthday wishes from my close friends and some family members which genuinely makes me happy. It's like a usual day for me and i don't like celebrating it. For me celebration will include having some lunch/dinner plans with my family members or close friends. Personally i don't like cakes or sweets so it was a headache during school when people prepared chocolates or cakes for my birthday when in reality I can't stand them. There are some so called friends or acquaintance who will always go for chocolates or even pastries!!!! It's annoying that it happens every year, like wishing me will be enough people don't bring all those stuff which I won't eat. I like cooking something special for my mom and brother on my birthday. It's not that i hate my birthday but certain obligations which are made by the society makes me dislike it. Like the way it should be spent, the people, the type of food and drinks, the type of emotions or reaction you are supposed to have and all it makes things exhausting. I look forward to my birthdays cause for me it's sweet when people who are really close to me will wish and sometimes i do talk to those people after a certain interval of time so yeah it's nice but hate those obligations.
I've grown to hate birthdays as I've gotten older. It is my sixteenth birthday in a few days and I'm absolutely dreading it. It is a miracle we were all born. I used to hate celebrating birthdays because of all these reasons and more. The most significant one to me being, I felt that I didn't do anything of significance to be worthy of celebrating my life.
This all changed when I had kids, "oh here we go, the kid spiel" right?
Okay yeah yeah, maybe so let's continue. After I had kids I was so in love with them. I was so excited for their birthdays every year because just their existence makes me so happy. Now if I start thinking that my girls shouldn't celebrate their birthday because they feel they haven't done anything significant, I would be upset they did not love themselves as much as I love them.
Then I lived a year in a shelter and I started to learn to love myself.
I also love learning about most sciences. So let's take in the fact that life in itself is a miracle and add us. Out of every sperm, egg, person down your ancestry line that has ever lived, you are here. How? How are any of us here living and breathing, experiencing life every day? The only way I can think is a miracle.
You know my mom almost didn't marry my dad. She almost couldn't have kids because her periods stopped for a full year.
Despite everything said in this and all the pessimism I used to have from my youth, I'm so happy to celebrate my birthday. I don't care if anyone else cares or remembers the day I was born because I do. I love having a day that is just special to me. And we all share this similar trait of having birthdays which should bring us together.
Life is amazing and I think everyone should be able to celebrate their life on their birthdays. Imagine how much happier this world would be if we put more emphasis on how important we are and how special birthdays actually are.
Even if I don't really do anything today I am still celebrating within myself, despite having a hard life and being depressed. I'm really trying to appreciate myself and my experience of life. I am thankful to experience life.

Today is my 16th birthday. I woke up feeling the blues. My boyfriend’s phone got taken away so we talk thru google docs with his computer laptop, but we only talked for 5 minutes bc his laptop got taken away. I went outside of my room and saw nothing. Only my mum packing sum stuff for her business. I jokingly asked her “where’s the cake?” And she told me that she’s busy and to get away from her. So I just went back to my room. I had realized that everyone forgot my birthday. There’s a corona outbreak going around so it’s really tough to have fun, though I believed that it can still be a good birthday, but no. No food, no cake, no happy birthday. I don’t really have a good relationship with my mum, but she didn’t have to go this far just because I didn’t wash the dishes last night. I hate my birthday because I don't like imposing my wants on others. They ask me what I want to do and then I stress that I'll end up dragging them around doing things they don't want to do. They'll want to take me to the strip club and bars but I hate going to both, and then I'll have to accept gifts but I'll feel bad about the inconvenience of them having to buy me a gift. You get a piece of cake or 30 dollars or a little present but thats it. I am not really having a problem with that. My only problem is that I hate when someone gratulates me ( in fact they even remember ) because I do not like that. I always get reminded of ageing. On my birthday I am just sitting lazy and depressed in my room disgusted by the fact that I am ageing. When laying in my bed at night I always think of my dreams I want to fulfil when older, but I know that my life is not gonna be like that because of many different influences. My future looks like that : I graduate school then I am going to study, become a dentist, find someone, marry him, have children, get older and older, one by one my family members die, get even more older, then my husband dies, my kids are marrying then they get children, then I get typical age complaints and die. At the same time this sounds good to me but there is basically no space for my other dreams. Ageing is to me a horrifying thing to me. Maybe its just because I have the wrong attitude. Maybe its because I am persuading that to myself. But the fact that my birthday is the worst day in the year will probably never change.
Same i just turn out 16 and i absolutely hate the fact that i am getting older
