The motor is what makes the R1 special but honestly unless you are a seasoned rider you can't tell much difference because all the liter bikes are crazy fast. There is so much soul in that crossplane motor it is amazing.
Engine* A motor is driven by electricity only, just sayin :) but what you said i agree with! That engine is legendary!
I agree. After owning one i have no desire to own a flat plane bike again. Lol.

@@cd-pu5uv I completely concur, upgraded from a CBR600rr, wanted that amazing and unique sound but a more comfortable ride and useable power for my riding style, ended up getting an MT10 donât regret a thing.

As a r1 owner and a cbr owner I can honestly tell u the r1 is worth every dollar I have my ecu flashed on mine with a sc exhaust and itâs amazing

@@brendencox5494 Having ridden two S1000RR's totaling over 100,000 miles and two R1s (a 1998 and a 2012) over 30,000 miles, I propose the BMW is a boring, soulless bike which is also less reliable and painfully more expensive to service.
I think it is worth it now that you can flash it! That sound of that cross plane sounds good. I'm a Kawasaki guy but I do respect the R1M.

Was inspired by you in 2014, bought a 2013 R1, had to sell it when I went back to college in 2017. 2020, graduated, new job, bought a brand new R1. It was stolen last September while visiting a friend. New R1 is coming in 4 weeks. Cannot stop with these bikes, literally the best bikes I've ever owned. Can't believe it's been 8 years since I started watching you.

Iâve got 15k hard miles on my 2020 r1 and she hasnât missed a beat. Just had Moore mafia flash my ecu and for $200 you cannot beat the value!! Throw in a sprint air filter and an exhaust and youâre set! đ„°đ„°đ„°

I'm interested in the other topic because atm I'm looking to finance either an r6 or r1 and I. Can't. Decide. Lol. Obv the r6 has more usable power but liter bikes have more fun torque and you can coast around in first gear rather than shifting a bunch. Tho I fear the gas mileage of the r1

Thx Motonosity. I just came frm several dealers down here in Fort Lauderdale, FL. and they are talking $20K OTD since they don't know when the next shipment is coming in. The days of finding a liter bike for $15/16K are long gone now.

I really liked the models with the exhaust under the seat. Mine was an 08. I'm debating between a new H2 and a used R1. I currently ride a buell 1125RR.
Undertail exhausts created terrible center of gravity situations. So most manufacturers switched back to the side mount.
That under seat cooks your nuts... Only thing I hate about my bike
In our country to get this Yamaha R1 2021/2022, it's difficult bro. Like you buy 2 Yamaha R1 in your country. Say like in your country R1 price around 17,800USD right? Let's say 17,800 x 2, so the total you get 35,600USD convert to Malaysia ringgit around RM149,217.40. Easy to say, you need 100K Malaysia Ringgit to buy a new R1 2021/2022. In your USD money around 26243.59USD. So to us, if we get this Yamaha R1 2021/2022, we are so grateful man, totally grateful. Cheers!

for your last statement saying "if you're not putting 10s of thousands of miles on it." lets be honest if you're putting thousands of miles on your bike it's probably more of an investment than if it's stored and weekend riding only. i drive a 2015 mustang gt and am averaging about 19mpg because I've been doing a lot of city driving and sometimes I just like to get it going. i'd be getting double that on a motorcycle.saving myself probably 3k+ per year in gas.

@@mantis3574 Well probably. not forgetting in Singapore we have COE, which is a certificate that bike owners need to buy to be able to own a vehicle and drive on the road. which is additional 9k+. Ducati Streetfighter V4 2020 is 60+k. hahha

same, around 30k to 40k in India, whats Utterly crazy is that a Panigale v4 is cheaper than R1 lol because India take more tax on Japanese brands and a lot less on Italian brands.

I don't know if this helps you but I hope so. I owned a 600 for two years (2016 CBR600RR) and upgraded from that bike to my 2016 R1. I also recently test rode a 2018 R6. In my opinion, a liter bike is totally over-powered for the street. A 600 is way more agile and easier to ride. Also, I feel like I had way more fun on the 600s as on the 1000s (I rode a S1000RR and Rsv4 recently, too), because you can give it full throttle and you're still not crazy fast. You can pull through gears better and are more "one with the bike". To everyone out of my community who asks me "600 or 1000?", I always answer buy what you want, but a 600 is so much more fun and emotion. Hope this helps you somehow

The thing that stops me getting an R1 is the tall ass seat height. Iâm 5â7 and live in London so I feel comfortable if I need to put my foot down. The S1000RR feels more compact and suited for me. My GSXR600 is perfect for me though â€ïž
I'm 5'6 and also live in London lol, I had an r1 2015 and was fine with one foot down.
@@Different-Level oh yeh? I sat on them and just feel so uncomfortable. I flat foot my GSXR and Street Twin and am so used to that. I filter a lot in crappy central London traffic so itâs always nice to be able to put my feet down to squeeze through really tight gaps. I suppose Iâd get used to the R1 in time

@@gangsta_pigeon8023 So am I lol. I know they'd both be incredible bikes, but it's hard to choose. R1 looks and sounds better IMO, but the S1000rr has luxuries like cruise control / fuel gauge, and is also a little faster. I'm stuck.

Different regions of the country have different prices.
Retail here in Norway is about $31k, youll maybe get a â17 for $17k and â14 would be $15k ishâŠ

Yeah the r6 is out of control right now. It is the best track ready 600, and they donât make them anymore, which drives demand up. But for the street, I think there are better 600 options that wonât shatter the bank account
That's the problem, '20> are a bitch to try to flash, you're better off going with a '19< that ecu isn't as incripted, as the man said. I love my '18 mt10. MUCH more comfortable than an R1, got mine with 1kmi for $9800, practically a new bike. I found a yosh alpha 3/4 decat system new for $600, that and a 2WDW flash and you have a legit 150+whp short wheelbase bike that is an absolute blast for a shade over $10k. Pretty hard to beat!
