i was literally playing the iso on my wii u last weekend. with my old harry potter gamecube controller. can't wait to play it more after watching pokemon in pj saturday. and sunday i'll probably play it more
Man, this is a good question. I think the one I will most likely never play is SaGa Scarlet Grace. It's pulling teeth to get me to play even the classic SaGas, so it'll be 100 years before I finally make my way to the more modern releases...😅
I've been meaning to visit your channel for awhile, and great video. There are a lot if 3DS rpgs that I am never going to play due to one of the main reasons you gave... accessibility. I just check the exchange rate for SMT 4 Apocalypse, and I wouldn't pay what would about to around $195 either. (I actually have this one, but the NA version cost is no where near that). I hear you about dungeon crawlers (not my cup of tea either), and I don't have time for MMOs either. Oh well, even without these, there is more than enough to go around for the stuff that is more accessible. Looking forward to the next video.
With the 3DS eShop officially taken down, it's a good time to consider modding your 3DS, which would at least give you access to the Shin Megami Tensei 4 game.
The pain is real! If I thought it would be reasonable, I'd send you one of my backup 3DS' with RH and SMT4A; I'm all for more people getting to experience these games. The later Etrian games are SO expensive; I have the Switch collection of 1-3, a loose cart of EO2, and a digital of EO:Untold. The ones that are still 3DS only are pretty much all $100+ at this point. I have no attachment to YoKai Watch, but I know a lot of people who are big fans. Hopefully Level 5's revival is successful enough to allow for more ports or new games. Skies of Arcadia would probably make my personal list, along with Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force CD , Shining Force 3 and Shining The Holy Ark. Can you tell I have a soft spot for the Shining games?

Now Yo+Kai Watch is funny because during COVID right a store called Argos were selling off all their 3DS games for like £3 each so I bought like any JRPG they had, like Fire Emblem Fates, Bravely Second and Yo Kai Watch! So I've only just started tackling the backlog of those and man they are just proper funny!!! Also couldn't tell you like shining games ;) hahaha
I was lucky to get Yo-Kai Watch 3 when I did. I love the series so got it right away. I got very lucky with Radiant Historia 3DS as VGP did reprints of them and I was able to get it. Wish game companies cared more about game preservation as having ports of these games on modern consoles would be awesome

My guess (hope?) is that Nintendo adds 3ds to the Nintendo Online subscription someday. Why port something when you can be anti-consumer and charge a subscription fee for it?
I've played FFXIV since the 1.0 beta in 2010. It's gone from an MMO into a single player jrpg with lobby based co-op elements. You actually can't really play most of the story with anyone else. Some story fights actually force you into solo play. The dungeons and larger boss fights can be done with others through a match making lobby, but the main story ones also allow you to play them using the Trust System which gives you an AI controlled party. You can play the main story from beginning to end without interacting with another person. The side stories involving raids and harder bosses will require you to play co-op though. The free trial allows you to play the base game through the second expansion. If you're a Final Fantasy fan at all, I'd suggest playing it through the first expansion, Heavensward. At that point it would be about the length of a Persona 5 if you're just doing main scenerio. The second expansion has an extremely slow build, but after the initial story, it builds into the best storyline in the game, Shadowbringers. You can play the build up to Shadowbringers on the free trial, but that expansion is where you'd have to start paying. As for JRPGs I'll never play, any Disgaea after the first. They're just way too grindy for me.
Oh absolutely, at some point I'd love to, time commitment with work/life is another factor with this! But it doesn't take away the fact that FFXIV is awesome. I have friends who speak so highly of it :) it's always great to see the stories about the community as well!
I'm playing it for the first time now, after saying, "it's an MMO!!" For entirely too long. It's so easy to treat it as a single player jrpg for like 98% of the game. I'm so glad I finally took the plunge, there is no excuse not to
@chickenfillets Just do the trial. There really isn't a reason to buy it or subscribe to it until you get through Heavensward. I'd say that's going to be the spot where you know whether you want to continue or not. That way you aren't out any cash for it. If you are playing it like a single player game, you aren't missing anything by being on the trial. The restrictions are all based around creating guilds and using the auction house, I believe. The rest of the content is unlocked.
Ok, one thing about FF14, you can play 99% of the story solo, most dungeons now have NPCs support. I would absolutely try it (free trial is up to level 80 and all the expansions up to Shadowbringer!)

Disputable, but still neither developers nor editors will get money for outdated games which are not exists on a current systems. I really advice you to check on Skies of Arcadia, it's broken in terms of battle system but awesome to play. Do hope that someday it will be released on Switch and PS4

I used to think that it's better to have it physically but then one day i wanted to go back and play Pokemon Platinum and HeartGold/SoulSilver. The prices we're crazy 100+ dollars just for ONE game i said nope. Modded my 3ds and downloaded the games i wanted though was a little annoying for 2ds games but it was worth it in the end never looked back since.
Fingers crossed we get an Arcadia port. Might be nostalgia goggles, but I loved this game. And hey, stranger things have happened. As for RPGs I'll probably never play, Final Fantasy Tactics. I know, it's a masterpiece, but I guess I just don't have the patience for most tactical rpgs. And I'll never play the Blue Reflection series, everyone seems to love them but the dumb fan service was too much and they were just kinda...boring. Eh.

I have my fingers crossed for Skies of Arcadia being ported to modern consoles. Aside from that there is a KRPG I wanted to play but most likely never will. Are you familiar with the Ghosts N' Goblins series? Korea got an exclusive MMORPG spin-off. While I normally don't go for MMORPGs I honestly would have made an exception for this one especially if there was an option to play it offline which I say should be a requirement of every MMORPG. Anyways I always liked the style of the GNG games but they were way too hard so I found this reimagining to be much more appealing. It's an action RPG but as long as you can level up your character then I am down for them. Final Fantasy XIV is an MMO that respects your time. Don't know how many times the XIV community has to explain things constantly over the past decade. Do y'all think we're 30 million pathological liars? It doesn't have dailies,you are never forced to interact with another human, it has the most Uematsu compositions since IX, it has triple Triad and Sakaguchi who couldn't play more than an hour of XII and almost got into a physical fight in a bar with Kitase over XIII loves XIV...what more do y'all want?
im kinda shocked skies of arcadia goes for that much.. im so glad i got out of retro game buying like a decade ago.. i don't even know why people bother anymore when its been completely infested by investors and collectors. not to mention emulation is SO much better. but skies of arcadia is a great game, though the random encounters gets tiring towards the end but since you fight so much just going from a to b, you don't have to run around in circles grinding xp as just going from a to b is a grind

I love skies of Arcadia and I’m lucky enough to have picked it up way back when I was a youngin for $15 usd. I know that because the sticker is still on it lol. But seriously it’s criminal that skies of Arcadia is locked away behind the GameCube. It definitely deserves a rerelease.
With finally getting a dreamcast I can now play my copy of skies of arcadia! God dam its dear in England I got it for 90 euro like 8 or 9 months ago! I was expecting this list to have more games that never made it to the pal regions! There's a few tales of gsmes I'll never play, but that's down to never being released to us poor European folk!
Either get a decent pc Or a steam deck Or a reasonably powerful phone Or a modded console (ps1,ps2 etc) Otherwise legit no excuse to not play those jrpgs or any other console locked games
well, any Persona or SMT game is on the list for me purely because I don't like them. Same with the majority of the Tales series, though there are 1 or 2 gems in there. I also don't like handhelds, so pretty much any handheld games isn't going to happen without emulation. And there's so many cheap games on Steam than emulating is becoming more work than just buying a different game. For single games, I think Skies of Arcadia and Alundra stand out as games I would like to play but probably never will.
@@chickenfillets Still! Even a cheap PC can emulate everything up to 3DS now. I'm talking about like £150 PCs. There are also dedicated emulation handhelds. The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (£200) will play PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube/3DS/even some Switch games no problem and is a fantastic gateway into those rare games. I have never looked back once I started emulating. Would never have been able to play some classics without it!
Wow we have the same taste! I also dont like dungeon crawlers. My advice is avoid smt cause smt5 was the worst rpg i ever played! All the smt spin offs are good though like persona, soul hackers, etc…
Honestly, the biggest shame in my eyes is that you'll never play FFXIV. MMO aspects aside, it really does have an amazing story and great characters that make it really worth playing.
Tbh I would love to but my work/life I just can't commit to it. But I always love seeing stories and updates about the game. Also the music I've heard is amazing! Maybe one day! Thank you for watching!!!

I have my fingers crossed for Skies of Arcadia being ported to modern consoles. Aside from that there is a KRPG I wanted to play but most likely never will. Are you familiar with the Ghosts N' Goblins series? Korea got an exclusive MMORPG spin-off. While I normally don't go for MMORPGs I honestly would have made an exception for this one especially if there was an option to play it offline which I say should be a requirement of every MMORPG.
Anyways I always liked the style of the GNG games but they were way too hard so I found this reimagining to be much more appealing. It's an action RPG but as long as you can level up your character then I am down for them. Besides, it just looks like a lot of fun.

Admittedly one of the biggest draws for me is remember how the knight in those games would end up fighting in his underwear if he took damage? That can happen to all of the playable characters in Ghosts N' Goblins Online, male and female. Check out 2:20 of this video to see what that would look like with my favorite of the female classes.

The thing is that I didn't go out of my way to find those videos, as soon as I saw the trailers I was excited for the game by itself but when I saw that 2 of the playable characters were female I was like "Does this have a similar health system to classic GNG?" I have admittedly wanted a game like GNG with a female character for a long time. My alter ego Dinobolt6 is famous for creating Lady Kokoro, an OC who was heavily inspired by GNG and was meant to be a female counterpart to Arthur and Maximo. Final Fantasy XIV is an MMO that respects your time. Don't know how many times the XIV community has to explain things constantly over the past decade. Do y'all think we're 30 million pathological liars?
It doesn't have dailies,you are never forced to interact with another human, it has the most Uematsu compositions since IX, it has triple Triad and Sakaguchi who couldn't play more than an hour of XII and almost got into a physical fight in a bar with Kitase over XIII loves XIV...what more do y'all want?
Oh I know it's stellar reputation honestly, this is more of my own time, I'm a handheld gamer predominantly due to work/life! Maybe one day though!!!

im kinda shocked skies of arcadia goes for that much.. im so glad i got out of retro game buying like a decade ago.. i don't even know why people bother anymore when its been completely infested by investors and collectors. not to mention emulation is SO much better. but skies of arcadia is a great game, though the random encounters gets tiring towards the end but since you fight so much just going from a to b, you don't have to run around in circles grinding xp as just going from a to b is a grind

With finally getting a dreamcast I can now play my copy of skies of arcadia! God dam its dear in England I got it for 90 euro like 8 or 9 months ago! I was expecting this list to have more games that never made it to the pal regions! There's a few tales of gsmes I'll never play, but that's down to never being released to us poor European folk!

Or a modded console (ps1,ps2 etc)
Otherwise legit no excuse to not play those jrpgs or any other console locked games

well, any Persona or SMT game is on the list for me purely because I don't like them. Same with the majority of the Tales series, though there are 1 or 2 gems in there.
I also don't like handhelds, so pretty much any handheld games isn't going to happen without emulation. And there's so many cheap games on Steam than emulating is becoming more work than just buying a different game.
For single games, I think Skies of Arcadia and Alundra stand out as games I would like to play but probably never will.

@@chickenfillets Still! Even a cheap PC can emulate everything up to 3DS now. I'm talking about like £150 PCs.
There are also dedicated emulation handhelds. The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (£200) will play PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube/3DS/even some Switch games no problem and is a fantastic gateway into those rare games.
I have never looked back once I started emulating. Would never have been able to play some classics without it!
Hopefully at some point! Like I would love a steam deck. And the more and more I look at I want to. But the bank of fillets tells me no hahahaha

Wow we have the same taste! I also dont like dungeon crawlers. My advice is avoid smt cause smt5 was the worst rpg i ever played! All the smt spin offs are good though like persona, soul hackers, etc…

Honestly, the biggest shame in my eyes is that you'll never play FFXIV. MMO aspects aside, it really does have an amazing story and great characters that make it really worth playing.
