    G'day Mike, just discovered this video and it caught my interest as I swapped over to a hydraulic clutch on my Tre K. I got my system from a wrecked bike down your way so I had no history on it or exactly what it was, whether it was original or aftermarket. From what I can now work out it is an Evotech slave cylinder, an original hose and a master cylinder from an old Aprilia Caponord which has the advantage of a mirror mount which takes the original Benelli mirrors and uses the same electrical connection. I was fairly lucky in that everything fitted but it's possible that the previous owner may have sorted that out. The only real issue I had (like you) was with clutch adjustment. I had to get a new slightly longer pushrod from an R160 and even after adjustment I still had to take a millimetre or so off it to get it right but now it's just right. I can get neutral any time I want to and the pull is much lighter. A great modification for these bikes.

    I know what you mean about hard pulling clutches , I don't like them either , glad you've got yours sorted . Another super tutorial 👌

    Hi Mike, thank you very much for the great videos and tutorials.
    I discovered your channel looking for infos about the Guzzis and their reliability.
    Since your Breva apparently did over 130k and counting I know I should step in the Guzzi world! Thank you and all the best. Looking forward for more interesting videos.
    I am Chris, V-twin lover from Cambodia. Cheers!

    I might have missed something, but where did the 2 little "o" rings go? I think 1 was inside the slave cylinder, but not sure.
    Also, fyi, I have a 2004 Tornado 900 that I've owner since 2006, which I stopped riding a few years back due to the horribly stiff clutch. It makes neutral virtually impossible (I believe this was a "feature of the model") unless I slip it in before stopping, and the effort to pull the lever and hold it in traffic became unbearable, as I too am getting older and the hands are not what they were.
    I was hoping I can get a similar kit as you have. Maniac Motors are no longer selling the whole kit, just the slave cylinder for 299 euros, but I think the rest of it I can make up from other available parts anyway.
    Thank you for your video, it has inspired me to put my beautiful red Benelli back on the road.

      Hi Cailean, I don't recall where I used the o-rings or if I did. Best to ask Manic Motors. But apart from the problems it's been the best upgrade to the bike I've done. The clutch is a lot lighter, has great feel and neutral is much easier to find. It's worth the pain.

    Another quality production Mike. Makes me wish I never sold mine and remember how working on the Benelli was never hard but rather work around little challenges one at a time providing a sense of achievement when it all comes together. Keep up the great videos!!!

    Hi.. Need some advise from you.. How to change the starter cluct for tnt899.. I facing starting issues.. Can't start the bike.. Suspected start clutch problem.. Sound like the starter not engage with crank shaft.

      It sounds like it could be the starter sprag clutch not engaging. I've never had the starter off mine but the guys on the Benelli forum will be able to talk you through this.

    Hi Mate
    For the cable clutch system adjustment what would you reckon on the rotation to adjust the clutch plate as its difficult to get in neutral.

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  Před 3 lety

      I always went with the factory spec of 1/4 turn at the clutch assembly and 3mm at the lever. I don't think it's possible to eliminate the drag with adjustment without risking clutch slip when the engine is hot.

    Thanks Mike, very informative video and no doubt this will save many a lot of pain during installation. I am considering the same modification - change from cable to Hydraulic. Do you have any pictures showing the gap / view between the lever / hydraulic mount and the bar? is it possible to fit a mirror mount between the switch block and the slave? or will the action of the lever interfere with the mirror mount?

    • @MikesMachines
      @MikesMachines  Před 3 lety

      No, it's not possible to fit a mirror mount between the master cylinder and the switch block. I did find that the back strap from the original lever assembly (which contains the mirror mount) will fit the hydraulic one. So you can retain the original mirrors if need be.

      @@MikesMachines thanks Mike, brilliant. That will work for me. I also visited the website but could only find the slave for sale, not a complete kit with master and braided line. Just ask and they will package the kit? Thanks again.
