Marko's Devil character is amorously pursuing Floor's Mermaid character. She is having none of it, and manages to get away. An older song ,from the 2nd album Oceanborn in 1998, that album has power metal leanings. Before Marko joined, studio version vocals by Tarja , and guest Tapio Wilska. Tapio used harsh vocals. Sami Vanska was the bassist back then. Where to next for NW? How about "7 Days to the Wolves" live from Wembley 2015.
Emppu doesn't do unnecessary solos but he said this: The solo in "Shudder" was a nice surprise and something I had great fun doing in the studio. It's also fun live. I'm always ecxcited about parts where there's room for improvisation - "Stargazers" for example, is a great live song that enables you to really shred.
Absolutely one of my favourites! Thank you for your decent analysis and tribute to Emppu, he deserves it! And Floor? Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. Greetings from Germany and keep on rocking!
Oh yes great song great performance as expected from Nightwish, great reaction. I really hope people going to get subbed on youre channel, youre reactions are great and you take time to read wat people say, Thanxx a lot
This song is an absolute banger 🤘😎🤘. Kai's drumming on this is just crazy ( Kai Hahto "The Human Metronome", or in my book, Kai "The Machine Gun" Hahto )!!! In one of the interviews Tuomas/Marko said that Floor has a lungs of a dolphin (That long note is fire). Plus, she holds the last note (A4) of Nightwish - Ad Astra for 17 seconds (10/6/2022 Sweden Festival). If this wasn't impressive enough, I can also add than now she's just one, I mean ONE, second short from equaling Pavarotti's longest belt ever recorded. So,.... And, you forgot one thing, the song ends with Troy on his e-bow magic. Nuff Said !!!! NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘.
Hi Brian. Thanks for the shout out. I thought this one would hit the spot. Quite a theatrical performance, and pulled off perfectly. Kai definitely shines in this one. Such a tight band, the way they mange their transitions, tempo and key changes live is quite remarkable. Cheers from Canberra (good guess). Next: "Yours is an Empty Hope" - live at Wembley 2015 ... nice riffs, Floor getting gritty. P.S. Please do NOT attempt your "Aussie" accent again. 😊
You really need to listen to the entire "Oceanborn" album. It's one of the best metal albums ever created. Tarja is a big reason why it's one of the best. Floor is really flat on this one. It's not even the same song without Tarja on vocals. This album was their second release back in 1998, and you can clearly see they were way more power/prog/symphonic METAL back then. Much different than the "movie soundtrack" stuff they are doing today. The "Tarja era" Nightwish is by far the best Nightwish. 😉
"Floor is really flat on this one."???Well, have a good look at your audio system, there is something wrong🤨 Sure,Tarja has some songs wich fitts her best, but even the Tarja fan's said in reactions they liked the last version with Floor and Marko better. " It's not even the same song without Tarja on vocals" Yes ,we Nightwish fan's got lucky,it even became better with Floor and Marko.😆🤘
If you are sad or having a bad day, Nightwish is always the best medicine🤘
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done Yess

Not a fan of the original studio recording (without Floor & Marko) but I love this live performance - my favourite of this concert. 🇬🇧🤘🤘
I'm just the opposite. I prefer the original studio recording. Tarja is a big reason why.
@@TheCyberMantis I prefer some tracks with Tarja - not this one though.
Same. 🤘
I actually like both and not so much about Tarja but i like the different take on devil too
@@dazjackson1972 You are certainly free to have your own opinion. It's all good.
as always a wonderful reaction to watch

Jukka was great on the drums on the original! Hail Nightwish!
Albert Bouchard (Blue Oyster Cult) did a reaction to this with Joel Roadie.
He was impressed with Kai and admitted he wouldn't be able to play it.
Kai is an absolute beast. He is truly an underrated master of his craft.
Everyone loves Emppu :D No one would complain if we see more of him :D
😄
Yes, Kai is a beast! 🤘🔥
Such a complex song to play. The speed and the stabs alone make it hard to play.
Nightwish make it look easy!
YES!! Enjoyed it!! Love your playing, too!
Thank you! Great reaction!
If you like Empuu, one very good and long solo of him you will find in Gethsemane, in Buenos Aires concert

Kiitos. More from Finland. BATTLE BEAST NOORA LOUHIMO.Straight to the Heart LIVE.
So glad you enjoyed the recommendation, Brian! Salud from Nightwish Army, CA Bay Area Division!

Definitely "Yours" at Wembley.
Emppu had a bit more solo opportunities earlier in Nightwish. Or, you could check out his 'other' band, Brother Firetribe.
At the end, the eBow guitar work is played by Troy. Rare moments where you hear two guitars in Nightwish.
How do you count out those stabs? I have no freaking idea.
Endlesness
In this song Marco is the Devil trying to have his way with Floor the Mermaid but she's having none of it .
